Updated DAB logos...

However, my kids are convinced that when we took our test drive, the info screen was showing a picture of whichever artist was singing and the title of the song too.

It's likely that was playing music off an SD card with album art etc..

Very glad to have found this topic. I picked up my new Octavia Estate last week, and the radio logos are the only thing I haven't set up yet.

Did they imagine this ( I wasn't paying attention to the radio!!) ? I must say, I'm really happy with the Bolero setup, although my last car, a Volvo V70 had a cassette deck in it, so I'm easily impressed!!

I'll bet you'll miss those V70 seats before too long!

As Neily says, it was probably an SD card with album art enabled. There are quite a few posts about this. I find that album art looks great but some images show and others don't despite being saved in the same format and the same size.

Some DAB stations also broadcast pictures along with the text which changes with the artist, etc.  Seen this when I've been down in "the smoke". I think you can tell when this extra information is available with a star or something against the station name when it's listed.  Can't remember for sure - being "up north" for most of the time we're still amazed at colour TV...... :D

Hi

Having trouble with this. I have an iMac and have downloaded the icons from VW and saved to a pen drive. Looking on the pen drive I don't have the option to un zip, I only have the option to compress which leads me to believe they are un zipped on the pen drive. I have then sat in the car and plugged the pen drive into the USB port, the system sees the pen drive and the folder I open the folder to see all the icon files in a .pnc format. When I select the required file it dosnt load onto the preset station so not sure what to do. I have tried my old PC, but after 20 minuets with it fighting to display numerous adverts and pop ups I gave up before it was thrown out of the window.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Kind regards

John

Its better to download these onto an SD card and leave it in otherwise the headunit wont show the logo, it doesnt keep them in memory.

What head unit? It keeps them in memory on a Columbus.

Sorry, Bolero

It keeps them once programmed, but if you accidently delete them, or have a poltergeist on occasion, like mine, then you need the device to reload them from.

Because its happened a few times, I now have mine stored on the SD card with my music.

Finally managed it. Had to use a PC to download the files rather than the iMac. Not sure what the difference is as the files are both .PNG files. Anyway sorted now.

The Mac puts loads of hidden files and folders on the SD card that the Infotainment unit doesn't like. Same goes for when you do map updates, use a PC

Thanks for the information, I did wonder where to get the logos from.

Very straight forward, clear instructions given.

My head unit looks so much better now.

The correct files are usually still there, you just have to scroll a little farther. Or you can get rid of those invisible files by using a third party app like OptimUSB.

Thanks john much appreciated mate

Thanks John - got the logos, unzipped them (on my MacBook) and stuck them on a USB stick - updated no problems at all.

(For anyone with a Mac and limited access to a PC, download CleanMyDrive 2 from the app store - it's free and if you're transferring files between Mac and PC on USB (or updating anything on an Infotainment system) it's worth the download.)
