Updated DAB logos...

Featured Replies

Cool thanks for the link. Is the 160 x 120 size the max supported? Does it look good on the screen?

Im not sure on the max size - theres a previous post on here somewhere.

Yeah they look a lot better than the black grey squares you get otherwise!

I guy on a VW forum went to the bother of making his own with transparent backgrounds to get rid of the white bits but a quick glance at the updated logos makes me think VW have done that this time around.

Just what I wanted to know. Awesome!

A slightly longer quick glance suggests its really an updated list of logos. I think a handful have improved but probably down to the individual station.

Anyway, it's nice to see VW are keeping them updated.

Thank you, I didn't know you could add logo's. I have just done it and it looks so much better.

For those who don't understand the German, to install these new logos:

- Download the relevant ZIP file for your country(s)

- Unzip/extract the contents to a folder on an SD-Card

- Insert the SD-Card into the Infotainment System

- Goto Setup-> Sender Logos

- Select the Station you want to update the logo for

- Select the Logo you want for each station

- Repeat for the rest of the stations you want to update

- You can then remove the SD-Card

You really have to update the radio station's one by one?

You really have to update the radio station's one by one?

In the UK one of the few stations which broadcasts the logo is BBC World service. So yes we have to do them one by one for the stations we listen to. Perhaps for you on the continent it might be different.

I downloaded the packages for all the European countries thinking I could just add the complete folder and it would associate the sender name with the logo name automatically.

I doubt I'll actually ever listen to 99% of stations so I won't be adding them one at a time. (European radio is terrible)

I'll have to wait to see if the European stations already broadcast their logos...

I'm currently stuck in the vRS delivery date lottery. :(

Gabbo,

You can only add the logos to your presents. It works on all bands, not just DAB but still just presets.

So these are still the December updated logos?

Sent from my phone so please excuse brevity and spelling

Were they updated in December?

Didn't know, as I popped the logos on my car back in September and only went looking as I'd deleted the files and changed the car.

Done this today. Thanks.

Yep - the filename is a giveaway 20131216 (16th December 2013)

As you can only assign them to your presets there's only 15 needed. I actually found it easier to manually find the logos myself, save them onto USB stick and apply them to the Amundsen.

For example:

BBC Radio 2:

1) Find your station on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bbc_radio_2

2) Click on the logo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BBC_Radio_2.svg)

3) Choose your resolution, I chose "500px" as manual states max res is 500x500

4) Right Click on "500px" and choose "Save target as.."

5) Save straight onto Pen Drive.

That saves scrolling through loads of Logos. Its taken me longer to type this than it took to actually carry it out.

( It would appear I need to wipe a cloth on that dash though )

They look better than the 'official' VW ones!

Agree on whittling down to the ones you want before putting them on the SD Card. Scrolling on the Bolero is not perfect and it can be a bit of fiddle to find the one's you want/accidentally pick one you don't want...........

Just to add - this isnt just for DAB stations - you can also add logos for FM & AM stations too!

I must admit, dab is exacly as I expected, ie: frequent cut out from loss of signal.

But thanks for the updated logo links, now have them done.

For those that didn't already know ... you can scroll down the list from USB/SD card with the "tuning" knob instead of touchscreen if you desire, much easier. It took me a few minutes of struggling with the touchscreen slider, and lots of icons, to figure that out !

Done my logos as well in less than 5 minutes. Works perfect. Thanks.

Cheers for that.

I tried the original route, downloading that file from the VW site, and it turned out to be an empty zip file.

This is much easier. Hopefully it'll transfer to the car just as easily when i give that a go later

I just cut and pasted the log's I needed onto an SD card.

Inserted the SD card,

Selected Radio,

Stored the stations I wanted,

Noted which station was playing.

Selected setup  on the screen .

Station logo's.

Selected the logo.

repeated for each.

Worked for FM,AM & DAB

Bolero system colour screen.

Yep, the Amundsen works exactly the same.

  • 4 weeks later...

Very glad to have found this topic. I picked up my new Octavia Estate last week, and the radio logos are the only thing I haven't set up yet.

However, my kids are convinced that when we took our test drive, the info screen was showing a picture of whichever artist was singing and the title of the song too.

Did they imagine this ( I wasn't paying attention to the radio!!) ? I must say, I'm really happy with the Bolero setup, although my last car, a Volvo V70 had a cassette deck in it, so I'm easily impressed!!
