This is very similar to 'Carista' i wonder if 'ODBEleven' works with a ELM327 module?

  • All to do with the UDS protocol.   I don't believe you can take a back up of a scan and adaptation map with OBD11, so you don't have a reference point to go back to IF anything doesn't go to plan.

  • Again apologies if this is in the wrong section.   Tried and tested on a 2016 vRS with Lane Assist.   High Beam Assist (for cars with Lane Assist Camera):  Ensure light switch

  • In terms of long coding, yes, the OBD dongle makes it very easy and CHEAP to do long coding. It also has some of the most common modifications people want to perform pre-programmed in as "one-tou

OBDEleven has a different chipset unfortunately and I imagine that the app looks for a device with a specific name/description, so may not work.

Will give it a go though, as I have an ELM327 bluetooth device.

Would be interesting to know. Let us know how you get on.

It's a lot more capable then Carista; not sure if it has changed but I used Carista on my MK2 FL and the tweaks were basic. I tested Carista (paid for version) and an ELM327 on my 5E Octavia and my mate's 5F Leon, and we couldn't do anything beyond checking for faults. With OBDEleven I can do coding and adaptations like with VCDS, though admittedly it's more expensive than Carista too.

When connecting to the module in ODBEleven, you don't search for the module from a list of BT devices, like you would with Carista and an ELM327, it just automatically finds the module and connects. Therefore I doubt it will work with an ELM327 and you have to use their module.

yes somewhere on their information stuff it says it will only work with their OBD device

Meh - well, my Samsung s7 is crap and refuses to let me even attempt to connect due to some BS overlay detected message.

My Fabia has an android head unit so I'll install obdeleven on it tomorrow.

I imagine if it were compatible with an elm 327, the only issue would be down to it forciably connecting to a named device which I found you can easily rename the paired device.

Has anyone bought a obdeleven device? If so, what is the hardware name?

Cheers

I bought the pro license and module together. Will check tomorrow what it's name is.

Hi gRoberts I had the same problem as well on my Samsung Galaxy S6 i.e. unable to actually connect.

To get it to work when it showed that "overlay detected message" I disabled all the toggle switches for all apps on that screen, then when i launched the OBDEleven apps i could see it was asking for some permission (GPS I think), i accepted the permission request and presto I was able to connect.

Hope this helps someone.

Cheers :)

It was being a pain in the arse but got there in the end.

Survey says... Nope.

I renamed the device to "OBDeleven" and it found it but recognised it was the ELM 327 or similar and failed.

I'm ordering one shortly, building up my free pointa every day whilst I wait for the car to arrive!

Cheers :)

Just checked this but looks like you already got the hardware name. It's on offer at the minute I think, was only a few euros cheaper than normal but you also get free credits too. Every little helps and all that... :)

I am looking to use my PayPal credit instead of my debit card but they don't accept it :( only alternative is to pay via ebay instead at an extra £5

I haven't seen this app in the OBDeleven program.  Must have missed it.

I also have been logging in every morning and "watching" the ads, to earn free credits.... but I'm only at 40 so far, so will take another 2 months to get enough to use the app

I'd rather have a go at programming it myself, if I can find clear instructions of long coding, in format that suits the OBD11 program, but VCDS instructions I may be lucky enough to interpret and have a go at programming.

It should be there (app costs 100 credits). 2 months ? You should be able to get 6 free credits per day, one when launching the app, and the 5 others by watching ads (you can close most of them after a second or so, so it shouldn't take more than a minute a day) ;)

There is a Backup feature and a History feature in the app which logs all the changes at the long-coding level. It would make sense for the 'app' changes to be logged there too, so you should be able to find out exactly what bytes it changed.

Unfortunately not, it's only written that I used the App...

Had a crack at enabling traffic signs yesterday.

Managed to get the menu showing up in the maxidot, but so far, it hasn't registered any speed signs as I've driven past them, so unsure if I've missed something when programming.

pjam, how did you get yours working for Australian location?

I had to change another setting to tell it to not try to use the satnav information - I think it must deliberately limit the feature to countries it's been told it works in. That seems to allow it to start recognising signs in Australia but you lose the satnav's database of speed limits. I ended up turning it all off again. It would be great if you can give it a go to in order to confirm my findings. See my post on vwwatercooled for more info: #13

Just ordered mine.

They've got an offer on currently so it worked out at £45 for the Pro which seems pretty good value.

On my list of things to do:

  • Nearside Mirror Dip on Reverse
  • Add Fogs to High Beam
  • Increase Lane Change Indicator from 3 to 4 or 5 flashes
  • Increase DLR brightness

Anyone used the OBDeleven for coding up a spare key/transponder?

Ahhh, I missed the bit about Fusion.... will have another look at it tonight.

Everything seemed to turn on without issue, and I get no weird error messages when switching car on..... just the maxidot screen for the traffic signs menu says "No road sign data available for this area" or something similar.

I noticed when I first programmed it, the speeds were still displaying in the satnav map, but now they're not showing up and neither am I getting anything on the maxidot.

I'll try with the fusion bit as well and see if I can get it going.

It's another of those "it's there, so why not turn it on" things.... not critical if I can get it working or not..... will likely just switch it all off again as you did, if I can't get it working correctly.

Ordered mine this morning. With the points I've clocked up for free and the 200 I will get with it, I shouldn't need to do any manual coding :)

How have you clocked up points for free, and how are you getting 200 points with it?

I assume you've got the app installed already and just been opening/getting free credits each day.... but 200 to start off with, with the device?

Yeah, basically I don't have my new car yet nor do I have the device, so I signed up and started collecting the free credits every day.

I'm up to 87 now and I bought the device with Pro and 200 credits.

There's a Christmas offer on at the minute, it's about 5 euros cheaper than previous and you get 200 credits with it too. Wish I'd waited a couple of weeks, though I didn't really mind doing all the coding / adaptations manually.

Ahhhh... this makes sense!

I also bought pro, but only got 11 free credits.

Got mine through this morning. Done a few quick adaptations to test the water (rear lights as DRL, fog lights as coming home lights and dimming of DRL with turn signal) and all seems good.

Question: I've used the one-click app (only cost 10 credits, and I haven't seen the long-coding for this listed anywhere) to enable the "automatic lock doors if key is outside vehicle" function.

However - it's WAAAYYYY too quick to do so.
I've barely closed the door and set both feet on the ground (with the key either in my pocket or hand) and the car is already locking the doors.

While this is the intended purpose, I'd like to delay the time-frame of locking to something more realistic, like 10 seconds, or a particular distance away from the car.
Does anyone know the long-coding parameters I need for this?

Eg: the auto-locking is SO instant, that it's instantly locked and mirrors-folded, when I close the drivers door - yet my passengers haven't even opened their doors to get out yet!
Also makes getting out of the car and going to the boot a frustration, as it's locked before I get to the back of the car.

If I could set a longer time, or something like 10m away from car, before locking occurs, this would be much more realistic.

Any and all help appreciated.

Followed the instructions for High Beam Assist enable, including the helpful bit from Spnifex regarding the byte 2 bit 0-2 value change. Had light assist in the car setup light menu to tick, but when pushing the stalk back it showed the symbol for HBA for about a second, then said Light Assist Fault. Anyone else had a similar issue or any ideas? Reviewed the instructions and followed again exactly but still had the same issue.
