Ah thank you! Have you got a link to the camera you purchased? Tempted to grab one myself. Not sure why I want to volunteer taking all the interior panels off again! :)

Looks awesome. I am still trying to get Iron Maiden to play in our car, by have come up against a WIFE1 issue. Seems to work fine when I remove that from the car though.

I also considered removal of the WIFE1 component but I found mine was hard-wired to the media selection. It sometimes plays Iron Maiden successfully but reversion to Foo Fighters, Linkin Park and Ramm

You'll be pleased to know you only need to remove the rear hatch plastic and (depending how you route the RCA cable, I went along the roof lining and down the A-pillar) the side panel on the dash which just pops off! :)

So I can't get the  MFSW phone button working correctly with CarPlay. When pressed it just shows the CarPlay info in the MFD (photo attached of result).

 

I've been in and pulled my VCDS logs for the Amundsen unit on 5F and the car itself. I've checked the coding for byte 16 and the button is enabled. It works correctly for standard phone mode as far as I can tell, pushing it tends to redial the last number.

 

My basic logs below - the battery regulator fault I believe is because of the car detecting a parasitic draw from my dash cam I was installing at the time (now with parking mode added) which no longer causes issues.

Think that's how it works, at least my t6 transporter does the same if I try and use mfsw phone functions whilst in carPlay.

I think you can recode the left roller as a "push-to-talk":

- Go to address 16 (steering wheel) and check byte 1, bit 3.

 

I can't remember exactly how it works as it's been ages since I had the original MFSW fitted. It might remove the mute function or make a short press mute and a long press voice control?

 

The other solution is to fit a MK3 style wheel as that has separate voice and phone buttons ;)

Ah I will have a look at codings later. I can grab a mk3 wheel with the next parts purchase, is there a specific part number or car it should come from? I miss my old flat bottom vRS wheel.

Any MK3 wheel will fit, the buttons are where you need to be careful..,

 

They need to compatible with PQ platform cars so would have been fitted to a Yeti or MK2 FL Superb. You can switch the buttons easily enough. I used 5E0919719F which have green backlighting and no DSG paddle support.

So tried pressing and holding the +/- roller a couple of days ago and indeed Siri does come to life! Appreciate it's a retrofit so going to operate slightly differently.

 

Thank you Langers2k and all, I will keep an eye out for a wheel to pop up at the right place, hopefully with an airbag with it!

Need some help on this unit if possible! Got the 5L0035680E and Ive got a 5G0035222F however my Smartlink doesnt work - Android Auto ends up in a Black Screen and Apple Carplay just comes up as Connection Failed - tried a few different cables - still no luck? anything on coding to check?

What have you enabled via VCDS?

There's about three or four options that need to be enabled within the 5F coding module, all pretty self explanatory (mentions Apple Car Play, Premium connectivity etc)

Did USB full in Long coding - made sure in adaptations google_dio, apple_dio and Smartphone interface is activated

Hi guys, I have installed Amundsen in 2006 Octavia II. CP is off and everything works great except bluetooth, when I press wanna connect the phone only what I get is message "Bluetooth not available". Is there any solutions?

Have you paired it with the car/radio? May sound like a daft question.

 

I can't remember if I paired mine using the MFD display or the radio itself.

Friend of mine was doing it, he installed dozens of these radios in VW and everything works great. He also installed another one in FL Octavia and there is the same problem HW and SW are the same...
