I'd just like to say goodbye to Mr Grumpy.

With the blessing of his missus, I'd just like to say goodbye to Mr Grumpy (Graham) most of my friends knew him personally, he was such a nice chap, with a dry sense of humor... I like to think he hung on into 2017 just to stick his fingers up to 2016, and not let that year take another~!! Even if you never met him, you may have been part of the "interesting" banter he brought to briskoda! (he was a brisky legend!)  I first met him at our first ever briskoda camping do, was back in 2007 , the picture below is when we met up in Feb (2016) and had a nice meal, a good laugh and a few beers, then he drove away in Phantom! we talked about meeting up again in the lakes, I was hoping he would get to meet Rose after she was born :(

 

R.I.P Mr Grumpy, we'll miss you.

:( manys an entertaining exchange was read and posted even during my relatively short membership here.

He will be missed from this community and no doubt his other walks of life if he provided half as much entertainment as he did here.

He sent me a pm thanking me for the support back in May when he posted about his treatment. Which i thought was incredibly nice - given the timing id wouldnt exoect anyone in his position to have taken that time for a total stranger.. indication of the man he was despite the username :s

Not been on here in a while, but just been made aware of this thread.

Graham was one of the very first Briskodians I met, back in 2006 I believe. From there we built an interesting friendship based mostly around insulting one another! But were also good friends.

Gutted to hear this sad news, and more so that it has been so long since we spoke. Rest easy Graham :(

I've just been informed of this sad news. Graham always made me laugh on the forums at the meets, the drives out and when he fell in love with my old Fabia and bought it the same night. May he wreak havoc wherever his next stop is. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I've met Graham on several occasions, utterly bonkers but a  pleasure to be with.

 

He had a bonkers dog too, Dave, perhaps Grahams humour rubbed off on Dave the Dog

I had no idea. Such a shame. I found him a good chap on here and by the accounts of others, he was good in real life too.

I recall having some dealings with him a long time back and he was so helpful. Of course, as a Briskodian, he would be.

Very sad news - a true Briskoda legend.

 

Graham helped me plan and lead the driving route when I organised the first Burrs Camping meet (back in 2006 I think). The stop off point on this was the Turnpike Inn (overlooking the dam near Ripponden) and from there we started the monthly Lancs / Yorks meet which later moved to the The Malt House just down the road in Rishworth.

 

Great memories and as others have said he was anything but grumpy once you got to know him. He wasn't backward at saying what he thought though, and I seem to remember him getting a Brisky ban on  more than one occasion.

 

Condolences to the WO and the HC (as he fondly called them).

Grumps was one of the first people on here I had serious 'banter' with and like Loz found out, he was great fun to chuck insults at and be knocked off your feet with the salvo of weapons grade insults he aimed back at you. Some people didn't get 'Graham' but he probably meant for them to stay in the dark, he took pleasure from dancing around intellects of a ...er... different persuasion to his own :D  and his refreshing turn of phrase was nearly always honest, pithy and dryer than a mouth full of cream crackers. 

 

An absolute one off around here and the place seems to be already slightly less shiny than it was a few days ago. I'm so sad he has gone from us, but I'm very, very happy that I  got to know him :)

 

I take great satisfactions as an atheist, to know that that if I am wrong and there is an afterlife, Grumps will be making God's life so tough, that he'll think twice about running Heaven and may be persuaded to become an atheist himself just to get some peace.
