@SashaGracethat part seems to have come quick! Hope it all fits in smoothly, should be a good result. I got one today too but it was already in the car when I picked it up! Im trying to decide if I want sweeping mirror indicators while Im changing the puddle lights :wondering:

It has done, 6 days from Latvia is really quick. If only Royal Mail could be so efficient! Maybe they need Liam Neeson, or maybe they should swap all those red vans for 245’s? Could get around much quicker  You deffo want sweeping indicators.

Made that call for you to Liam Neeson to put some pressure on the Latvian so he would deliver your VC before Xmas. Seems to have worked because he promised appropriate steps would have been TAKEN (see no.1,2 or 3).

Ta muchly. Seems to have worked very well. I was really confused when it arrived yesterday. Wasn’t expecting it until the 28th.

Are you doing the coding for the VC retrofit yourself? Or is it a bit more specialist?

With the dynamic indicators, can you still see the flash from the inside of the car when the indicator is lit, through the little clear bit next to the glass? Also would you say they are a bit more yellow than orange compared to the originals? Currently have them sat in my basket :)

I’m not doing the VC coding myself, it’s going to someone who knows what they are doing. If swapping a cluster you have to code the immobiliser and the ABS so that’s up to a pro! You can still see the flash through the little peep hole but it’s a bit dimmer, looks good because of the tint though. They look perfectly orange in real life. No yellow tinge to them :)

What the above means is that someone who wants to upgrade to a colour Maxidot can make me a good offer for my cluster and it’ll work with a bit of specialist coding. Not too many £££ either :D

That sounds great, I'm definitely sold! Thanks for the quick reply and merry Christmas :)

Id hate to think what it would cost to change to the Colour Maxidot as a retrofit!!

The guy who’s doing my cluster quotes £200 plus what you can get a cluster for. Hint, I have a cheap one coming up soon

Haha!! Does that include fitting???

  • Author

Yes. Fitting is quite simple tbf.

I’m interested.

What kind of difference do you get?

It’s quite hard to describe but the sound is generally just more full. The bass is more impactive with the virtual sub.

As above, give it a go and if you don’t like it, just untick the boxes. I’m lead to believe that the menu’s don’t show up on the MIB1’s but the process works. On the MIB2 there is a tick box choice which is nice.

Will it explode with canton? Virtual and actual subwoofer combined.

Tired of the tinny stereo? Here’s a tweak recommended to me by @Maverick567. Use OBDEleven/VCDS to go into module 5F Infotainment - Long Coding - Byte 11 change the value to Hex 04 and then reset the stereo. Next go to the Media tab, click Setup then Sound and tick the 2 new boxes, Skoda Surround and Virtual Subwoofer. Makes quite a difference

Is that for Canton only?

No mate, not sure it will work with Canton. Mine is not Canton.

So you've done it?  What HU have you got.

cheers

  • Author

As above, it’s for non CANTON cars. My HU is a MIB2 Amundsen :)

Ooh .... will have to give this a go.  The one think I dislike about my Oct 3 (other than the regents) is the very poor sound system.  The stereo in my Oct 2 was far far better

Dont get me wrong it’s not like replacing the stereo but it’s a noticeable improvement!

Is it a no-go or a maybe on Canton systems?

  • Author

I guess it’s not going to be any help with a CANTON system because there is already a sub. Maybe someone with CANTON can tell us?

Any improvement is worth it as the standard system is basically tragic :D

I had looked at going down an amp sub route but I should put that sort of money to better use like family fun stuff.

I'm not somebody who seems to think the world has ended with my standard audio fittings - however any opportunity to enhance would be a bonus.

Is this likely to work on all factory fitted setup? I have the Columbus in my car. I did plug in VCDS, however am the first to admit my skills and knowledge of product isn't great - I couldn't see how to "Byte 11 change to Hex04" for example - if that could be explained in more simple terms?

I did go to the said Byte 11 in 5F Infotainment, Long Coding - however simply saw the following options:

I did try selecting the 04 byte-11.....from the drop down and coding back, however after completing a factory reset on "Audio" from the main settings nothing new appeared.

You are doing it correctly so I wonder if it isn’t compatible with Colombus models.
