I agree, why isn’t is enabled as standard??

Because Canton's give more profit to the factory/dealer?

Standard audio system mustn't sound too good.

OK, for us computer Biffs who want to try this with OBD11 on a Facelift vRS. Click on 5F Infotainment then click Long Coding.

Then on the next page click on the top right corner on the 01.On the next page use the right arrow at the bottom of the screen to move along until you see Byte 11 at the top left of the screen. The box opposite Bit 0 will be ticked. Untick that then tick box opposite Bit 2. You will see Hex 04 is now displayed on the right side.

Now press and hold the power button on the head unit until the screen goes off then comes back on. Then click on Media then Settings and Sound. 2 new boxes should be there for you to tick.

Ahhh....it's Bit 2, not Bit 4. I managed to get it up on my Columbus too. Ticked them off as didn't find any significant sound difference, maybe because I'm already on aftermarket speakers and sub.

But it's great to have the options. Might try the other Bits under Byte 11 to see what appears.

It doesn’t make it sound that much better, like putting a sub and amp in but the question still remains I suppose, why make the software and not enable it?

Yes its Hex value 04 you are after :)

I tried this on my MIB1 Bolero earlier today.

As per the previous post, with the MIB1 you don't see the new options in the sound set up (accessing from the Media option) but it does change the sound.

The change however, was not for the better; I have my EQ set to 9 for bass and around the 0 / -2 for mid and treble just to get a reasonable sound (having moved from a Mondeo Titanium X Sport to the vRS, the vRS sound is awful) and the coding made the sound much tinnier and reduced the prominence of the bass. A little like the fake surround sound on ghetto blasters (for those of you who recall twin tape decks) in the 80s.

Looking at the long coding you can see the change has been written to the module (see images).

I've changed it back, but definitely worth trying. Maybe those of you with MIB2 / 2.5 units will have more success :)

Sound is such a personal thing. I have run a MIB2 for 10 of the 12 months I’ve owned the car and just having the newer unit made a lot of difference :)

Christmas has come early in my house, my virtual cockpit arrived today and I finally sorted that pesky Wizard plate. Decided to leave the Sasha plate on the Mercedes for now and put my initials one on this. Gotta get some new plates made up.

Guessing your surname is JONES. Stab in the dark!:tongueout:

Yeah it is, didn’t take much of a guess did it?  I had hoped to end up with someone with a really exotic surname, or just anything different from the 4 or 5 that everyone around here has, but I ended up with another Jones. Yey.

I liked the scrolling wing mirror indicator video despite the typical Welsh weather.

Tell me about it, it stopped about 10 mins after I filmed it! Typical, 4 seasons a day weather over here.

TBH I'd guessed the surname quite a ways back when I saw the personalised plate.  I had a chuckle as I was reminded of a scene in a film I'd watched again recently.

Tired of the tinny stereo? Here’s a tweak recommended to me by @Maverick567. Use OBDEleven/VCDS to go into module 5F Infotainment - Long Coding - Byte 11 change the value to Hex 04 and then reset the stereo. Next go to the Media tab, click Setup then Sound and tick the 2 new boxes, Skoda Surround and Virtual Subwoofer. Makes quite a difference

I've just plucked up the courage to do this as my first mod (I've had OBDeleven for months!!:blush)

Cheers @SashaGrace & @Maverick567

What do you think of the improvement?

@SashaGrace boot LED lights have just arrived, very impressed, only taken 10 days over Xmas from China. Much brighter than stock!

It's good, I'm no audiophile, but it sounds "richer"

@Cakemonster Glad you are happy :) Go for some more tweaks, they are really easy to do. I recently set my rear taillights to come on when the tailgate is open as an extra light/safety measure. You can do so much with OBDEleven :D

It's clearly a slippery slope  I've just changed the headlight wash to a 2 second pull.... :D

I like the sound of the taillights coming on with the tailgate open

I'm no audiophile and I can't tell the difference!

I mentioned that I left the options unchecked. Today, it disappeared from the Sound menu. Oh well.

Strange, reverse the coding and have another go, see if it works :)

Sharing a tweak I found under Auto HVAC. This made the air conditioning cooler.

Funnily, the Skodas sold in Singapore feels stuffy and it only feels normal after I have coded byte 12 to 10 by selecting cold temperature for hot countries (like Singapore).

You joke, but we had a great summer! Tbh I have no real need for fancy dual zone climate control, it’s either set to 18 degrees to be comfortable or 22.5 to get warm first thing on cold mornings. I never have it on any other setting. Heated seats (and other touch points) and screens are far more effective at getting the people in the car warm and the screens clear.

Same here heated seats and 23c in the winter and if it's not really hot the electric sunroof gets deployed. Plus AIR CON can give you a dry cough.B)
