1.5 SEL first gear issue.

Featured Replies

I haven't noticed it when reversing - but this may be that by the time I need to reverse it is normally warmed up.

So our software fix could depend on Brexit - that runs as smoothly as a cold Karoq in first gear!

Mine kangaroos cold or warm regardless.

What is the story on Social Media / Forums on Continental Europe and other World Regions with Left & Right hand drive cars, are people reporting issues

with the 1.5 TSI Manuals in the various vehicles with them?

Tried what car and the Telegraph with zero response. Worth a try if we all mail watchdog perhaps? I'm up for it if anyone else is.

I've contacted Watchdog but they won't respond unless lots of people contact them.

I suspect it's the price of keeping CO2 emissions under 130 g/km.

"In 2009 and 2014 respectively, the EU introduced legally-binding CO2 standards, for the first time setting a goal that, on average, new cars sold in Europe in 2015 should emit 130 grammes of CO2 per kilometre, and 95gCO2/km in 2021."

All they need to do is bring back the choke cable! The engine is running too lean when cold due to them attempting to beat the emissions.

The DSG compensates but you can still feel it surging. I think you should all turn up at your dealer on a busy Saturday morning, park up in front of the door with a big sign stuck on it saying it is undrivable. Invite the local press maybe? That should get the ball rolling.

Plenty MId Size vehicles with 150PS or more got low Euro 6 emissions & are driveable.   VW Group even built hundreds of thousands of them.

Even 1.5 TSI Manuals.  So no need to make their excuses for them really.   They need to be brave enough to admit their faults when there are one.

No more Das Auto or Vorsprung Durch Technik just 'Honesty'  & Trust Building and stop the spins and adverts on how green they are.

Maybe they will do an ad with a kangaroos or better still ostrich.

The CO2 limits referred to by agedbriar are for manufacturer fleet average. Averaged across the manufacturers total production output.

Don't think for a minute that a Toureg or an Audi Q7 could manage 130g/km WLTP.

Suzuki are just limiting the number of the New Jimny being sold in Europe / EU due to the ridiculously high C02 g/km from the manual & auto so that their average with their other  low emission vehicles keeps them in a good place.

Not only those, even Karoq 1.5 TSI DSG 4x4 'sports' 149 g/km of CO2 emissions.

I hope this one doesn't kangaroo, as I'm going to order one. :)

Has anyone with the issue actually contacted the motoring press, or ombudsman?

I know one thing - all the big successful corporations absolutely hate one thing - negative publicity!

Too true, one or two voices can be brushed under the carpet. If you all get together, on mass, and shout as a group they'll soon take notice.

This was and is a totally different issue regarding DQ200 DSG's in Euro 5 vehicles.

but the relevance is that VW Group seem to never learn how to handle what can be Safety Related issues just because they can get away with doing nothing,

especially in Europe.

I'm sure it's been done by some of you guy's but I've been commenting on Skoda UK's Facebook page when they post about the Koraq warning potential new customers about issues.

Sieski, I like your style.

I'm not on Facebook or Twitter but if I was I would certainly be using the social media side to annoy Skoda into actually doing something.

Well Done

I've posted it on the Skoda UK Facebook page - now I'll wait and see if it get a response or simply deleted.

Hi all

Thought you might like to see the transcript of my chat with Skoda this morning:

Hi, you're through to Paul at ŠKODA UK. I will be assisting you today.

Paul
Hi xxx, the effect you have described is a known characteristic of the vehicle and therefore is not something that the Retailer will be able to provide a fix for.

Me
A characteristic?? You mean it’s supposed to do that?!

Paul
This is the information we have been provided by the ŠKODA Factory, the juddering is a characteristic of the vehicle. Your Retailer should be aware of this and should have advised you of this as they have had the same communication as ŠKODA UK have received from the Factory.

Paul
If the engine is allowed to warm up before a journey this juddering will not happen.

Me
So the car is actually designed specifically to work like that?
The juddering happens when the engine is warm, although to a lesser extent

Paul
The engine characteristic is that it may judder when the engine is cold and at low revs.

Me
You haven’t really answered my question. Are you telling me that the car was actually designed to work in this way?
If I had known that the [car] was designed to work like this I would not have bought it. What are my options?

Paul
Apologies, I can only advise information provided by the Factory that this engine has this characteristic at low revs and when cold.
Thank you for your further comments, as this is a characteristic of the car there are no options available regarding this.

Not sure if I should laugh at that or not.

I would laugh if only I hadn't spent so much money...........

It would surely be more productive organising a KANGAROO TRACK DAY and invite members of the press to race each other in manual 1.5Tsi Karoq's around the circuit with one stipulation, they are only allowed to use 1st gear (even 5th Gear presenters) and style points are awarded for the most jerky laps.
