I also easily recognize when my 1.5 ACT kicks in. It does it at all speeds and gears. As long as my foot is just lightly on the accelerator.  I thought it would mostly be just a highway cruise thing

ACT will kick in around 30mph in 4th gear as long as 1,400rpm is showing and you see the ECO on the dash.

Will have to check an my next trip.  But I am rather certain it starts in 3rd.  Mine says '2 cylinder mode' on the display; there is an eco as well.  Not so noticeable at speed, as I guess the 2x combustion is fast enough not to  knock the car around

In both the 1.4 ACT engined cars I have owned when they go into 2 cylinder mode you don’t notice any difference it’s only when you see the “ECO” symbol on the dash that you realise that the engine is running on 2 cylinders, IMHO it’s the best engine that I have ever had in a car.

I get 2 cylinders starting in 2nd at 15mph. It also has to be in closed loop.

Hi all

Seems there are a lot of Troc 1.5's doing the same thing. I've been into a Skoda dealership in Newcastle today. Once again they hadn't heard of any issues I pointed out that a lot of owners had issues so suggested he takes a look at all the posts on here. I'll find my local dealer near Oldham and get it in there. No more fobbing off as they say!

Certainly they must have known about this if they did any reasonable level of engine testing.

With my DSG the cold weather has made it more jerky after starting on low speeds.

Not undriveable but certainly not smooth and no previous car drove like this.

This has certainly dented my view of Skoda and I will look more carefully before buying a new car and not trust the magazine's about which are the best new cars...

The first cars did not have that "feature". So the magazines did not experience the kangarooing (not sure about Australia :P).

Hi. I have sent all of these links to the salesman at my Škoda garage last week. I'm going there this Friday. I have informed Škoda customer services myself last week. Will update how I get on. Not hoping for much though. We really love the car apart from that fault though.

Yes, that's what I always say. Manufacturers spend a fortune on research, development and testing and then they release a car with a serious fault like this.

And, as has been said, that it's because they had to change the software etc. for the WLTP is nonsense as that should have been tested extensively as well before being signed off. Given that this engine is used across all the marques and a number of models under the VWG banner, in my opinion they are going to end up with serious egg over their face. No wonder they are focussing more and more on electric and will be phasing out their combustion engines as soon as they can.

However why do they need to worry about a percentage of customers when they seem to be doing better than ever, helped in no small part by their financial operations, especially when they are asking e.g. 6.4% for PCP which is above what some other manufacturers are quoting and certainly what banks are asking. Finance seems to as important if not more so than manufacturing vehicles!

I have noticed the DSG IS a little more jerky, from cold, in cold weather. Not enough to worry me, as yet. If its proportional to the cold/very cold  weather it may be not so good. Its a very clever gearbox, that gets everything right about 95% of the time. But I'm glad I didn't take the DSG when offered it on a new Golf in 2005!

As an overall package, i remain very pleased with the whole car.

That seems steep. They are doing 3.9% on the Karoq and 2.9% on the Kodiaq here in Ireland.

That said, our purchase prices are higher. The discounts reported by some UK owners  just don't happen  -  not on the SUV models yet anyways.

It is steep, in fact it's worse that I said it's 6.9%!!

OK, they are giving up to £2000 manufacturers contribution, so if you took that into consideration, the rate would be a little less. But it's still a right royal rip off.  I've taken out a bank loan at 3.3% APR for the settlement on the Yeti to give me more time to consider Yeti replacements and I'm in no rush now.

I've made the mistake in the past of buying with the heart and not worrying about the APR but never again.

Hi all.

I know we all have issues with this car or SUV, as to its engine and other bits of which I have had 7 different faults inc the engine from the day it came out of the dealership but I must say the car is a nice drive when you get passed the kangarooing.  I have just completed 12,000 in 4 months most of it motorways and have not put a drop of oil in it and its still on the max mark. Third and fourth gear I have found unbelievable for overtaking. I can find very little road noise or other wind incursions. So its a shame they have failed on all counts to do with R&D on the engine side as we are all complaining about. Fuel consumption the overall over that 12000 is 35MPH which I think is a better representation than the 58 MPG auto Express and others quote. But then we all knew that.

This is from today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  Now they know about it so hopefully they will have to do something. Fingers crossed

Mine kangaroos regardless of warm or cold, did a 450 mile round trip yesterday and as soon as off the A1 and back to urban traffic the kangarooing continued.

Lex have arranged am independent vehicle inspection for Monday where they test over a 100 mile period. Let's see what the Engineer reports.

Hi ya. Mine is through Lex so I'd be really interested in what they say. I've not thought of going back to them. How did you go about arranging it?

Who's paying for the fuel on the 100 mile jolly?

A very good point! I'll have to put it as a trip on the work fuel card  mileage logging system or it will be me !

You buy a car for £20k+ and worry about £10 worth of fuel in trying to sort out a serious issue?

My Octavia has it's first service next month and no way is it going to be road tested when there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Might let them wash it as have already paid for the first 2 services and first M.O.T.

I'd pass on that one unless you would like some free swirl marks in your paintwork :whew:

As a full speed road test to the pasty shop and back is part of the service schedule, it'll be marked down as "not fully serviced - warranty void" :nerd:

Got my fleet dept to complain on my behalf. If you lease direct just ring customer services and raise your issue... more of us the better!

Plenty of them already after 17,700 miles with a Black Magic Pearl paint, it never looks clean and it's no SHOW PONY either. Gets used and abused on a daily basis LOL.

I think the warranty got VOIDED after 7 months when it went over 300bhp.:D
