When they're sub £13k, I'll be interested enough to read it.  Never spent more than £13k on a brand new car yet.   Sub 30k is just not relevant to average people in a country where the mean

Not long now George - "electric man. "

Discounted while people still wait for delivery of the most expensive model and can be getting quoted RRP's.

I am leaving towards a PSA EV rather than the Zoe.  What persuaded you to go for the Corsa over the Peugeots ?

Like the fast charge rate and the honesty about range and they say 300 miles might be possible in ideal conditions and if using eco and the slower speeds.

Style much better than Zoe too.

Renault need to bring out cars like an Zoe estate or saloon with 60/65 kwh I reckon as to all the other car companies.

Their market value is so low the tech companies could cherry pick which ones they want and which conventional car companies will die.

@lol-lol,

Vauxhall garage 1 mile away and i know them.  Peugeot garage 9 miles and ars3 and elbow comes to mind. MG garage is 15 miles away.

Non coldest weather the Vauxhall, Peugeot or DS have 250 miles possible with some miles to spare without hypermiling.

I wanted the simplest, plainest and most 'cloak of invisibility' EV.  The 208 IMO is like a tarts handbag anyway.

Apart from little round e badges and different wheels that's it with the Corsa. (no exhaust pipe, but then many cars have them not visible.)

The e-Corsa actually goes a bit further than the e-208 being a little lighter,is has better handling and is an ickle quicker. It has heater switches and a normal steering wheel which can be set to see the dash,

and just KISS as far as the interior, plain seats and materials.  Less shiny easy to scratch black as well.

The e-208 GT-Line or GT interiors will not stand up to hard use IMO, well not my use, seat covers would be needed.

Thanks George.  Very good summary.

Vauxhall is also my nearest dealer.  Baylis is a large dealership with 8 branches but quite a good reputation.

@lol-lol

The Corsa drives nearest to a Mk2 vRS Fabia of any EV i have tried.  The seating is lower though and not as much windscreen or all round visibility, not as much space and no dark headliner.

The 208 gets the black headliner also worse all round visiblilty.

I wanted to enjoy just getting along on back roads like in a twincharger and that is what you get, a nice amount of acceleration, put TC off.

The cars i have driven had on Michelin Pilot Sport in 205/45 R 17.  I think some like the ones arriving now are on Michelin Primacy which is a shame.

A Kia e-Niro is a more practical & better built car IMO if you are going to have 1 car.

.....................

So she is driving in 'Sport' with B engaged.  That is 136ps.  (without knowledge of what she was in and what the difference is!)

She could have gone to Normal and would have had 110ps and got more range and driven at the same speed and if she had to boot it it would have given her full power, just as it would if she was pottering along in ECO & getting 83ps and much more range.

The switch is just at her side. Then the shifter can be in D and if you want braking without touch brakes take it back to B,

or just leave in B as she has done and is getting more re-cooperation.

One child in a car seat and put the other seat down and the buggy goes in.

Difference in models is the lower spec are on 16" and the 'Sporty looking' are on 17's.  You decide, they are identical motors / batteries.

Looks like a 21st Century version of a SinclaIr C5 (with a roof) to me 😁

In the UK electric scooters of the stand on type are not even road legal,

and 16 years olds can only get a moped or disabled 16 year olds a car licence or drive a tractor.

There are so many different laws & licences and vehicle classes across the EU & Europe to be taken into account, and vehicles to might well suit city centre and town or village use that are not going to be getting approved for use in Britain.

Who remembers the Velosolex 14 year old could use ?

Car Sales People, Journalists / Reviewers, Manufacturers Media Teams.  Can you really believe them?

If the cheaper or more basic model is ever so slightly lighter or just different as in it has 195/16" tyres compared to 205/17" then really are the range for them to travel identical if the same driver drives the same route the same speed etc in the same weather?

Well no actually!

Hence with a ICE vehicle they get different WLTP / RDE results and CO2 g/km figures.

The actual car he is in and in that colour is not under £30,000 OTR with the Government £3,500 off,

it's RRP OTR is a crazy £30,460

Even more with an 11 kw/h on board charger. £31,310

So a Dealer is getting really a  £33,960 with a 7kw/h on board charger car or a £34,810 sale with an 11 kw/h on board charger with premium paint...,

the tax payers are bunging manufacturers / dealers loads of money.

^^^ Exactly.

I really can not understand why all the manufacturers are ignoring Estate Versions and versions of the estates without rear seats for light commercial deliveries in towns and cities and out and about.

There are Hybrid Estates like the Toyota Corolla.   The Mini Electric could easily be offered as a Clubman / Clubvan Electric.

SUV seems where all the focus is.

Which suits EV form factor but not not getting longer ranges as the aero is worse.

One of the model 3 and S advantages is their low height and drag in addition to their superior battery temp control.

Renault need to do something quick of face oblivion like most other car companies with only Hyundai and PSA seeming to be getting it right at present.

As it is for City cars & City light goods vehicles Aero matters not a jot in congested traffic, stop start, average speeds supposedly less than the days of horse drawn carts.

Renault EV's can do quick 0-30 mph and 0-62 mph already with EV's as can all the others producing sun £30,000 EV's and the 92/93 mph top speeds are surely not a problem for the EV's being sold and used in the UK.

The only thing holding up the currently available EV's in 30 / 40 / 50 mph speed limits might be big ICE vehicles running around with just a driver in and commercials with part loads.

Plenty Trades / Commercial users can do fine with a low roof vehicle with roof bars and some load space.

ie Window Cleaners / Alarm installers / Lock smiths/ Mobile mechanics..

The Zoe seems to have poor energy use at higher speeds compared to Hyundai and Tesla and particularly at lower ambient temperatures.

It will be interesting to see how PSA cars measure up but I am hopefully as they seem to be doing a lot right.
