Hi guys,

I think a few of us ended up getting the Octavia VRS 245 on PCH at the end of 2017 and early 2018.  Mines just coming up for its first oil change service and just wondering what others have done around timing of exactly when you need to have the service done who are on PCH.  I ask as its right smack bang in the middle of some holidays I have so couldn't have come at a worse time!!

Also interested in what others have had quoted for the service.

Thanks

Driven like I'd just stole it for 6680 miles since collecting on the 25th August 2017, debadged, tuningboxed, pedalboxed & air intaked.   Fuelly.com has its long term avg at 24.9mpg but,

Due to being on the long variable service intervals (for me 18,500 miles) paid the dealer £300 for first 2 services plus first MOT. Just to clarify this is not a Skoda UK Service Plan. Think 1st service should be around £179 however, just oil and sump plug really as no filters are changed. You can get it done earliier before the summer holidays as all services these days are computer recorded and service books are no longer stamped.

I paid £162 for the first one. It was approx 500 miles beyond what the computer suggested (9200).

Thanks for the approx price headsup.

With mine being on PCH I'll just call the Skoda Driver line (for Skoda FS/VWFS) in late Oct this year and say ok car is coming to 1 years old can you book the service at my local dealer/service centre for me please. Ideally I get the first service 'just' after its first year anniversary meaning it goes back right before the 2nd is due.

What servicing schedule are you on fixed or variable?  Might impact when you need that first service.

Scotty72 only really uses the car at weekends so his annual mileage will probably below the 9,400 mile fixed service interval.;)

Correct, if I hit 9400miles I'm over my allocation for the year (technically) of 8k too! I say technically in that it has to be 16000 or less in the 24months I've got it. I'd be on the wrong lease if I was doing lots of miles :)

Mrs uses it weekdays for local trips and it gets proper use most weekends only. Cycle/Train commute for myself daily.

Excess miles are cheap. I'm already at 13000 and officially only have 16000 to last until February.

Sure I'll worry about that if and when it happens :) Its only likely to change if I need to start car commuting for work for any reason.. then I'd call up VWFS and get the mileage allowance changed as it would be cheaper overall.

Finally got my brakes done, been sick & Fn tired of having worn brakes.

Fitted C grooves & yellow stuff pads, slightly noisier but, OMFnG do they stop

Even more awesome with HEL braided stainless brake lines and Motorsport spec 5.1DOT brake fluid. No mushy pedal and no brake fade.

I will tell you who it's not. When I bought the car in 2017 Quote Me Happy wanted £100 more than the company I now use so forced me to switch and last year was happy paying £339 so chuffed it's gone down. 14 years NCB and no points probably helps.

Finally found a few minutes to do some shopping around and got it down to just under £260 from £650 starting quote, without changing insurer!  ;-)

Finally paid £301 after renewal was £323.

Wonder whether an Audi S4 owner (349bhp) could match this achieved today.

Wonder if an S4 owner cares? It's hardly a car you buy if fuel economy is a priority or concern.

Unusual angle shot of the 245 taken using CCTV.

Running costs are important to most car owners (except NOAIM) so quick update over the first 21 months ownership. Miles covered upto 21/05/2019 stood at 21,914 with £3,230.55 spent on 99octane fuel at £153.83 per month. Fuel used 2,462.40 litres or 541.66 gallons at an average 40.46MPG. This week alone seen 42,43,44 & 48mpg on single 26 mile commutes.

You're right, I DGAF

Here here, you dont buy a 245 for fuel economy as top priority, you buy it for the fun and practicality

Hi there I'm new to the forum, I picked up my 245vrs on Saturday, ex demo with only 80 miles on the clock.

An old school friend of mine is a valeter so I got him to give it a good going over and a ceramic coat as well.

Coming from a very dull 10 year old BMW 118d this is a much nicer place to be 😁FB_IMG_1559155451094.thumb.jpg.412f385c264cb61c049d0050c176cdb3.jpgFB_IMG_1559155478316.thumb.jpg.993b25b93d575a4f7b3679f4a22a8ad2.jpgFB_IMG_1559155500650.thumb.jpg.dbf7fe6c8fcb027791cdf57f5018e77b.jpg

Wow how long did it take your mate to get that shiny?

Best part of 4 hours all by hand.

How much would he charge someone on Briskoda (mates rates of course)?

Well it cost me 200 for the 12 month ceramic coating, I'm sure he'd be happy to answer questions. Where are you based as he's in the Bournemouth area? If you're not local he might be able to point you in the direction of someone else.

About 180 miles from Bournemouth but would make an early start and make a day of it. His company RPM Detail and Valeting as on the front number plate?
