I’m also unsure what would be the case in which I would use the carpet side? 🤔

I think I paid about £85 for mine from a UK main dealer. I have never used the carpet side and never will, but it adds to the heft of the mat and stops it sliding, so really doesn’t matter if you won’t use that side.

Fully satisfied with this double-sided one. I highly recommend it too.

There maybe three. The OE one I have is also double sided, but it is twice the length of the boot and is folded L2R across the centre. The side which one usually sees and uses has the same material finish as the boot floor itself, which means you can still use the load fixers. However this spilt 60/40 down the middle and these flaps can be lifted and put across either, or both seat backs to protect them from damage. On the reverse is thick, hard wearing grey plastic which protects the boot floor and seat backs when carrying longer loads or general cr@p to the recycling centre. I also have the OE plastic floor protector which is actually very thick, so maybe the later versions are thinner plastic?

There's not so much difference legroom for rear passengers. I had feared it would be tighter for my 3 kids (sorry I shouldn't say kids, since one is a teenager now and another one is about to become one too... Time goes fast 😁). The tallest one is 5'6" and does complain though most of the time sat ont the central seat. Since the seats are a bit higher from the floor than on my ex Mk3, the difference is not a big deal I would say.

However the comfort mode with DCC on Superb Mk3 is way smoother than on my Kodiaq Mk1 on long trip (though the latter is acceptable).

I don't regret my Mk3. I wanted to go for a change...

TBH as I get older & my mobility deteriorates the easier entry & exit provided by higher SUV's / crossovers is becoming more & more appealing.

I drive my wifes Kona EV a fair bit when we are out together & I notice how much lower my Superb is when I get in it. You step up & down to get in & out of the Kona whereas the Superb it's a step down to get in & a pull / push up to get out & is definitely more difficult as I get older.

This would probably be the main reason for changing my Superb for something else. What that is I have no idea as I haven't given it too much thought. However, the more aches & pains I get makes me wonder whether I should start considering a change at some point.🤔

I can concur with ease of entry and exit, I suffer from the same things. Annoys the hell out of me if I have park close the kerb on my side or if I can't get the door open far enough, it just makes everything harder.

Been there done that.

In fact it was 2 years after I bought my Superb (2nd hand) that I realised I had a virtual pedal. Wondered why the boot kept closing for no apparent reason when I was loading shopping in & out of the boot.🤣

Is there any way to temporarily turn it off ? It tried to eat me about 6 times during my cam install...

Don't have the car keys within 3m at the rear of the car.

Leave the keys anywhere inside the car, or more than 3m away, or in a room inside the house, far away.

It won't eat u then, nor try to decapitate u.

New rear discs and pads for me this morning - just over 9 years old and a smidge under 42,000 miles.

It had two front lower suspension arms done in March for the MOT but apart from that maintenance costs have been minimal since I bought it.

Hi ,

Well today I gave the old girl ( the car ) a good belt of electric energy after a few months of inactivity.

Took my C Tec CT5 out of the box and wired up the old girl as per manufacturer instructions and let rip.

After 6 hours the battery is fully charged ( On go ) light but try to let ot rest on the maintenance cycle.

The battery on the car is the new kid on the block that everyone seems to be pushing , the reviews go from brilliant to rubbish , Kwik Fit push the brand.

I will replace the battery before the winter but would really would like to install an AGM battery but don't appear to like abuse.

Have the forum members ant thought on the subject ?

Any thoughts would we greatly appreciated.

I let my daughter drive it after adding her and her sister on the insurance ahead of an upcoming holiday.

This doesn't sound very exciting apart from the fact that the last time she drove a car of mine was on her first driving lesson over 25 years ago where she panicked and crashed my Peugeot into a wall laugh

Replaced the rear brake pads and discs again, they only seem to last about 36k miles. Nearside pads were ok but the inside of the disc was rusty:

Offside disc was ok but inner pad was completely worn out, must keep a better eye on them.

Made use of revo's summer sale to finally get that stage 1 remap. 190ps tdi 4x4. Who has this engine knows it's lazy and doesn't really do much off boost. The power is there but it manages to be so unexciting at every stage of operation somehow.

So, overall consumption is the same. Maybe it's a bit easier to pull into the 50's below 70mph.

On boost acceleration hasn't noticeably changed, however, off boost acceleration is where it really shines. There's less need to push the gas until the gearbox downshifts, making slowing down and pushing it seamless, like on roundabouts. Starts in 2'nd a lot easier, pushes in 6'th for an overtake at reasonable pace. It's like the car is a few hundred kg lighter.

One thing i've noticed and i'm not sure how to feel about it is that the dpf stays cooler in normal operation. There's more headroom to heat up and passive regen doesn't happen as easy as before. Active regens are also a bit colder and take slightly more. I'd say from 550-670° down to 520-630 now.

Of course i have 0-60 times as well (via car scanner).

Replaced the intercooler and boost pipes/hoses yesterday at thephirm - the guy working on my car, Simon, was seriously pedantic about doing a perfect job. Says he likes to work on it as if its his own car. Was there for ages and I helped out for the last couple of hours where I could and could see the lengths he would go to to get everything right; builds a lot of trust to see that first hand so if you're in the area it gets the absolute thumbs up from me. Now to plug in the RacingLine PDM and reflash to Stage 1+...

Hi D402 Are the worn discs and pads in your photo Delphi parts as in the box displayed(?) or are you changing them for new Delphi discs and pads? The reason I ask is I am due to renew the OEM discs and pads and have been offered Delphi as one of the better brands for the job, would be interested in your thoughts

@Stonechip The old discs and pads were Brembo, the new ones are Delphi. The Brembo discs were fine but I wasn't impressed by the pads - braking wasn't as strong as the OE pads and they produced lots of dust, also that one pad wore much more than the others which makes me suspect the friction material broke up or detached from the backing plate. No complaints about the Delphi pads or discs so far.

Unfortunately, I still have brake judder so will have to do the fronts as well, and I found a leaking shock absorber too 🙄

@D402 Thanks for coming back feel a bit happier now to use Delphi parts . All the best sorting out your brake judder

Years ago I had a Saab 99 that eat front discs for breakfast.

I complained to the Saab dealer who suggested that they fit taxi pads as a trial.

Problem solved.

This takes me back to over 50 years ago after my father retired at 65 in 1973. He'd had company cars for many years that were supplied to him from new, so they were never smoked in. After he retired, they asked him if he'd come back and work for a couple more years as they couldn't fill his place, which he agreed to, and they gave him a Ford Cortina MkIII that a female rep had used, but she was a heavy smoker and the windscreen was cover with scratches inside where she'd wiped the glass with her hands and not bothered about the damage her jewellery was doing.

My father had an injury from WWII, so he wasn't able to do too much physical work, so I said I'd give it a good clean. I couldn't do much with the screen, but I cleaned the inside as thoroughly as possible, the metal ashtray being coated in grimy brown that I took out and soaked to get it clean. There was even ash inside the instrument cluster which I couldn't get to, but I've no idea how it got in there in the first place.

Like your Superb, the Cortina wasn't completely clear of cigarette smells, but it was 95% better than it was. I even bought him a Feu Orange to hang from the dashboard to eliminate the last 5 % of the smell!

No idea why or how people smoke in a car, bloody grim!
