Amundsen MIB2 Firmware Update

Featured Replies

I'm running a MIB2 Amundsen from a Yeti in my Mk2 Superb and I quite regularly get random Android Auto disconnects (it drops USB connection and tries to use Mirror Mode, fails, then goes back to Smart etc), DAB often simply loses all signal etc so wanted to know if it's possible to upgrade the firmware and if so, what version do I need, I think P0359T is the latest available for my unit?

Also, I assume that if upgrading's possible, it won't lose the Android Auto/Carplay or is this something that would need to be re-enabled via VCDS/MIBToolbox?

Device Part Num: 5L0035680C
Current FW: MST2_EU_SK_PQ_P0253T
Hardware: H22
Software MU: 0253
Software Ver: H25.14.89_STD2NavPQ_EU

Thanks!

forgot to mention...

Hardware = X72, Software = X368

Bad news:

  1. There is no 04xx firmware for SKODA MIB STD2 PQ units. Solution is to flash it for VW firmware and then load SKODA HMI however it requires unit to be patched first (see MIB STD2 TOOLBOX).

  2. Your unit is Engineering version, there is a risk of bricking it with regular customer firmware.

It's not possible to upgarde to 03xx without patching the unit first, e.g. via MIB STD2 Toolbox. You may lose Android/Auto if you have a software patch installed now.

Looking for an update for my Infotainment.

update: i somehow managed to download P0480T but when I try to update I get the:
"Unable to read the file meta-information" "Can't use Update Container. The current Software Download application is too old"

does someone have earlier version to share so i can update to it and then P0480T?

Hello, I want to give my Superb with MIB2 5Q0035874A a small upgrade. I bought a screen 8 inch screen 3V0919606 (i am still waiting for delivery).

I would also like to give my software MST2_EU_SK_ZR_PO253T an update. I read that I could update to MST2_EU_SK_ZR_PO480T. Now I would also like to know if it is possible to downgrade if the new layout is not my thing or can someone provide me with photos or a video of the new layout?

Thanks in advance for the tips and advice.

That would be going between SOP2.x and SOP4.x and this is not approved as an upgrade path (although others here will say you can, its not an approved path of upgrade)

You can check at "mib helper"

Thanks for the heads up @LinoTheFox !

Looks like I need: MSTD_EU_SK_P6230

Ive had a look at the software repository at MIB Helper but havent the foggiest idea what to download and cant find anything that corresponds with the filename above.

Apologies for being a total noob, this is the first Skoda Ive owned.

Hello @pab567

Please let me know if this is not the right thread.

I have

5Q0035874B

My vin

TMBKG7NE6H0052942

What are my options about

  1. Activating smart link and using android auto?

  2. Upgrading the whole infotainment?

  3. Advantages of just upgrading the sw?

  4. What do you think about those android replacements? I guess I lose many of the car integrated functionalities?

In the end what I'd really want is to be able to use android auto.

Thank you so much, sorry for the many questions

Patch must be made to swdownload file, google for MIB STD2 TOOLBOX. Only after this is done you can upgrade to 0480.

@prosist MIB STD2 TOOLBOX is also a solution for you to activate SmartLink. I sent you link to MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0369T on PM. As I don't deal with aftermarket units I can't give any guidance. My personal opinion: if you can get OUE unit that matches your requirements then stick to it!

@AlexScout you have download link on PM too!

thanks a lot @pab567 ! I used MIB STD2 TOOLBOX and managed to get it to work, (although it takes ages to start, I even thought it was not working).

I managed to enable the GEM using VEEPEAK (every where I read said it was not possible, but it worked !!)

towards 1st: VM Firmware (other Logo and such) is no matter to me. I would be fine with that. How to do this?

towards 2nd: Engineering version??? I bought my Yeti with this, how can this be? is this legal?

Thank You in Advance

Ad. 2: It was bought used by me?!

Dis you buy it as brand new car directly from SKODA? Pls share VIN so I can check original configuration.

I bought this Yeti used and I bought it not by a VW-group seller, but from a "free seller company" :-(

I cannot write you PNs (not enough posts or such... board rules) so here it is:

The VIN is TMBLD75L1F6043507

PS: please excuse my English - no native speaker / writer ;-)

Your unit has definitely been retrofitted. Originally you had 5L0035680A.

Hi all,

After searching for a Skoda Amundsen for several months without success, I finally purchased and installed a VW version in my old Skoda Superb.

I'm currently running the latest version of Toolbox on my radio and just noticed in Mib-Helper that a newer firmware version is available.

Current Setup:

  • Firmware: MST2_EU_VW_PQ_P0468T

  • Toolbox: 1.4.2

Available Update:

  • Latest official firmware: MST2_EU_VW_PQ_P0480T

My plan is to install this update while preserving the existing Toolbox configuration. I believe this is possible by removing the esd_sec section from the update…

Questions:

  1. Has anyone performed this upgrade?

  2. Does anyone have a full Skoda firmware dump so I can replace the boot logos and interface elements with Skoda branding while keeping the red LED theme?

Thanks in advance!
