Amundsen MIB2 Firmware Update

Featured Replies

Basically you can do it with MIB STD2 TOOLBOX however as this is engineering unit it might end with bricking it so honestly speaking I would keep it as is.

The unit is working fine, but...

I've got -as many other vw/skoda/seat customers - the issue, that after 2024 the unit-clock shows 0:00 o'clock - jumps to 6:xx o'clock - back to 0:00 o'clock

so navigation cannot show when arriving at destination. that's my only matter. but - for me - a big issue.

I would try the toolbox. but "how to do"? -> kinda newbie...

Google for it, it's quite well described, just remember that after upgrading to VW firmware you will also have to patch the unit (as all FEC/SWaP codes will be deactivated - again use MIB STD2 TOOLBOX). You will also have VW skins so if you want to have SKODA skins again you have to reflash them.

I'ms sorry that I can't guide you more but I don't use MIB STD2 TOOLBOX at all :(

Hi all,

I had a 2008 Vrs estate about 10 years ago and always missed it. Today I picked up a 2016 Vrs Estate and loving it.

I have to reaquaint myself with the infotainment system but I've got an Amundsen unit.

Maps need updating as I think they're the original maps but the unit needs an update.

This is the current install and I understand I'd need the 6230 update?

Also I'm not sure whether this unit is capable of having MirrorLink/Android Auto switched on on it?

Thanks in advance.... And yay... Happy New (to me) car day

Check your PMs

Can someone help me with an update for this multimedia . I have problem with s.o.s. alert from time to time multimedia keep restarting.

Component protection is ON. I don't think the update is the solution for your problem.

worth trying let me at least try this first

@isleamfatih - Component protection is ON - and the unit will continue to not work until you get this removed by a Skoda dealer. A firmware update will not fix the problem (although you can update to 0480) when you have CP removed.

So - you need a receipt for the headunit and screen and some identification and head over to the Skoda Dealer.

You need to pay for an hour's diagnostic.

Component protection appears when the sos emergency alert appears and the multimedia starts to restart . When no emergency error all works ok no component protection.

Hi, are there any updates for my brand "new" Octavia? (I am new to the forum so I cannot send PMs until I get 20 posts or sth).

Hi,

i'm new here, thanks for the sharing !

Can anyone send me link for Skoda Fabia 2018 (FR) latest update please ?

Hardware 041 (ref : 5Q0035864C)

And just update me a little bit please, my previous car was an old VW (2011), with just firmware update to proceed sometimes.

It seems, that now, we need more than just update firmware ? Or does this update include everything (except maps) ? Any issues with this update ?

Thanks for all guys ans take care

I sent you download link on PM however I hardly believe this could help you.

All check your PMs.

Pls keep in mind that IF your unit has SW patch applied then upgrading firmware will have it killed - your unit will be locked with Component Protection and activations might be lost as well.

Let me remind you upgrade procedure:

1. format SD (best max 32GB) under FAT32

2. unpack to root (metainfo2.txt and all the folders must be placed directly on SD, not in any folder)

3. insert SD card into the slot

4. enter Service Menu (long press MENU button)

Thank you very much !!!

@pab567 many thanks for this, worked like a charm! :)

Would anyone have any advice for updates for our 2018 Karoq? I don’t know what the most reasonable version I should be running is.

Any help or advice much appreciated.

Hi again,

Sorry for maybe stupid question, but when you say « Pls keep in mind that IF your unit has SW patch applied then upgrading firmware will have it killed - your unit will be locked with Component Protection and activations might be lost as well. »

Could you explain a little bit more about that ?

Thanks !!!

My interpretation is that normally the radio is matched to the car and other electronics. If you are running a patched radio setup, do an aftermarket retrofit or and/or adding that aren’t both from Skoda direct the radio will revert to stock behaviour if updated.

That means it’ll probably wake up not recognise the car (then go into content lock/protection) and the modifications will be wiped as they are sometimes part of a ‘’modified” firmware.

If you have the radio that came with your car and no dodgy fixes you have nothing to worry about.

Ok, thanks for explanations !!!
