Anyway, told the guys that they should finally try to swap the screen. Not sure they won't give it back to me all the same, saying again "we applied update, see how it goes".

Can't believe what I've heard today, but they are finally changing my screen and 12V battery.

  • I had so many spontaneous reboots this week with even 4 occurring on the same day that the infotainment system was practically unusable. That’s why I decided to go ahead and install 1941 yesterday.

In my case infotainment reboots after a minute or two of being in on/off loop. I had no reboots before on/off thing started to happen. So I'd argue these are not unrelated things.

When you have on off loops you also have reboots. Problem is like someone presing power button, so for short touch it is on off, and for longest touch it is rebooting. That was in my case, display change was solution.

Again a little update from my side.

For the last few days I'm starting to notice that on highway (in Slovenia) I don't get any restarts at all, but restarts always happens in town (approx. 1km from my home).

At first I thought it was a problem with some assistance system, but lately I think its navigation/GPS related. Every time I get restart, 25 seconds before the sound goes away, I get message "Location data is not available" on screen (speedo). I also have a video which clearly shows how navigation maps turns blank and 25 seconds goes by and sound goes away.

In the upcoming days I'm changing my unit (just for a few days), just to see if its unit problem or screen problem (or maybe GPS antenna problem).

Well it seems I am now yet another Skoda owner to suffer from this, I can't actually believe how common this is.

I have a Skoda Octavia PHEV, 2022, started resetting every 45 seconds or so, SOS failure.

I've read most the pages and it seems the software update will fix this, fingers crossed.

I'm currently on 1889 and would be massively grateful if someone could share the software that fixes this with me

You might need to get the dealer to do the infotainment update to version 1941 and then onto latest 1969 version.  Also, very likely you will also need some module firmware updates completing,  for example the Telematics module, to address the SOS issue.  Should all be covered by your Manufacturer’s Warranty.

Browse the forum as plenty of information to be had across various threads.

Thanks spcdust, hopefully it a simple fix with the dealer

Hello,

I wanted to report my issues… I just wrote to the service today and will inform you how they will resolve them.

When I listen to the radio or have CarPlay on, I hear clicking sounds (like I’m pressing buttons on the multimedia system, it goes click click), the multimedia system resets 100 times during the drive (black screen + Škoda logo). At the same time, front assist, cruise control, etc., stop working for a second or two…

Sometimes, these problems don't occur at all.

It's hard to go on a longer drive with such issues.

Additionally, sometimes the multimedia system doesn’t want to turn off after I leave and lock the car…

I have issues where sound goes to max, auto turn on while car is locked.

Service knows issue and they reported that they had already swaped some infotainments and they reported mine also to skoda to receive approve to change it, because of hardware issue.

I have 1941 version, beceuse on 1889 there were another issues but with update i have now other.

@Rookie97, @vran22, I'm no expert here, though my dealer also insisted to swap infotainment when I had the same symptoms. It took them two infotainments to finally come to conclusion that it was faulty screen, not infotainment at all. Took them two years.

Once it’s updated to 1941 you’ll get all those features. My head unit is the same hardware from early 2021 but it’s running 1969 and it’s smooth like butter.

Did you get 1969 from dealer? I had issues before getting1941 from dealer almost a year ago and from then smooth sailing.

I received from skoda factory that dealer need to perform first update to 1969.

Because this update is also carrying fix for sound auto min to max and screen turning on / off.. So they need to perform update first if update dont fix issues they will change display.

They'll need to replace the hardware before the software, although it could be the other way around.

I wouldn't worry about what they do, as long as it works correctly afterwards.

I said that i heard that 1969 dont fix thoose issue because already some installed manually but they said problem stays with thoose who did it manualy because components was not reset correctly and it has to be done with offically software odis or odin what is called.

Not heard that.

Just had mine updated to 1941 at dealer, 21 plate had never been updated , service department said there was a campaign which takes it to 1941, the maximum dealers are told to do at the moment

That could make sense or at least it corresponds with what I was told when my car was in for it's last service about 1 month ago. I reported 2 issues - car not starting for about 15 mins (happened twice in a year) and the random ICE on/off issue (not the issue sorted by 1941). Service manager told me they updated software with patches to what sounded like 2 or 3 components of the system. My overall version didnt change from 1941 that came down over the air many months ago.

I started experiencing exactly the same issues in last few days. Could it be that this started because of some update or some online service? These issues had mostly be resolved with fw 1941. It's strange that many owners started having problems again now...

Well update to 1969 didnt fix issues and i called skoda dealer to report back to skoda factory so that they approve switch of display.

Mines been fine for months today constantly rebooting

I'll admit my car has received a few updates and has been acting strangely of late, radio doing odd things, starting in sat nav mode, freezing, mode switch not working.

I’ve had a couple of ‘Pop Pops’ recently’- after a year’s respite - but no reboots…..so far. My wife bought a new Polo in June. The infotainment in her new model is fine.
