@leolito

on my previous Mk3 i have done this mod

The throttle response

44 - Steering Assist

            Security access: 19249

            Adaptations:

                        channel: 'Driving profile switchover' change

                                    from 'Incremental: controlled over time'

                                    to 'Direct: controlled over threshold value'

but i skipped it on my current Mk3.FL, me similarly as several colleagues noticed, it works more like a placebo,

touchable difference can be get just by moving back DSG lever, fasted way to switch D <-> S

I did not try the adaptation yet, I am unable to find free time to play, every time I need to use the car I have some unavoidable task and cannot risk something going "wrong" 😝

I saw there is a 'Torque Steering assist' setting or something similar, what is it?

In any case I tried in a ~300km trip I had yesterday to play with the settings, and I concluded that:

- in 'Sport' the throttle response in much better, but the ride becomes very choppy and harsh

- will try to set up 'Individual' mode with a mix, if possible (say suspension on comfort, DSG on sport, etc. and see)

- the DSG response in 'comfort' or 'eco' is very laid back, in Sport more active

- I tried to move the lever from D to S but it goes in "Manual", not "Sport". Am I missing something?

In any case I see me going to the pedal box if playing with the above settings does not give a meaningful result.

  • Why would you want them off? Auto lights are notorious for people driving around in poor visibility and no rear side lights.   Personally I always code them to be on.

This only change the gearbox setting, not the driving profil. Thus it's normal, that it doesn't switch to "Sport" mode.

However, it's strange, that it goes to "Manual". If you only pull the lever from D to S it shall keep in automatic. To switch to "Manual", you really need to push on the side...

Yes, sorry, I meant the DSG should go to "Sport", not the driver profile. So many settings! 🤪

And yes I confirm I have tried this more times, flicking the lever from Left to Right goes into "Manual" mode, which after you can operate with the "+/-" or with the paddles. When flicking the lever back to Left, returns to "Drive".

This, irrespective of the driver profile loaded (i.e. Eco, Comfort, Normal).

Now I read you better and perhaps I should try to "pull" the lever towards the rear, not the side, and see if that makes it go in "S".

Will try!

:thumbup:

Yesterday I had a long ride, but on an Octavia 4x4 with the same 7spd DSG.

I did pull the lever towards the rear and it goes to 'Sport' (only gearbox response, of course).

That made the ride much more interesting, compared to the dull response in D.

Can't wait to try it on my own 280 now. How foolish of me not to notice that ... how they say it? RTFM? 🙄

@leolito

just one but 😞

with smaller engines i can leave 'S' all day long
while 2.0 TSI keeps too long gears and i have to switch back to 'D'
when reached third gear after pulled from standstill or after overtake

Well, this was a TDI and I did notice it would keep, as you say, the higher gears for long. On the way going on my journey (it was early and we had time and all the nice things) it was just a D thing, on the return leg we made a mountain pass, very little traffic, and I was "chasing" (literally! 😁) my colleague that went to pick up a Tesla suv do not know what, so it was S all the time.

I've noticed  that if the keeping in the higher gear bothers (say it stays in 5th or 6th instead of 7th), a quick flick back to D solves the problem. And another back to S when needed ... hope the selector like that! 😊

my apologises about starting this new thread, few reasons to keep it separate:
1. Mk3 coding's thread is grown hugely and isn't easy search something in it.
2. FL codings has several differences.
3. coding procedure has been also changed -
 before do coding, must be opened bonnet and activated handbrake

Hi,

Thank you for the detailed explanations. I used some on a 2023 SIII L&K, however I had to revert some as I seem to have very different codings of some controllers and I had some errors. I did the coding with VCP.

The seat settings worked, I could also stop the engine on warning with the driver door open, the light not on warning when not on auto, high beam memory and a few others.

I could not code the pingpong of the ACC, the DSG coasting disabling and reverted.

I would have liked to code the eyelashes!!! I have taken a screen shot of the lamp adaptation page. If anyone knows which lamp numbers are the eyelashes I might try again. When I coded as described I received an error to check my fog lights.

I was left with a stupid error which I am unable to trace back so far. I tried to code the VZE /TSR and after getting nowhere I simply copied and pasted my original coding for the controllers.

STG17 is still showing VZE error in the dash when I switch on the ignition.

The error is in the attached pdf file. Does anyone know which adaption I did not revert by any chance?

DTC STG17.pdf

Eylashes coding is 100% not possible on a S3 FL.

You can save yourself the effort with a facelift!

This FL is starting to suck ... they took away the pleasure of playing! 🤪

Did I write this?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if I can activate an indicator light in the virtual dashboard (AID) to show that the headlights are on. I know the car should do it in Auto setting of the light switch. I just miss it from my previous Superb.

I went through the manual of my MY2023 and I don’t see any indicator for this function.
I’d say the best you can do is check the lights knob. In the auto mode, the parking lights indicator should be lit when the headlights are turned on (the one named „led” in the attached picture)

Hi,

What I mean, is there an option in the controller to code in a light that comes on in the virtual dash?

If there is no indicator light for this in the AID, then you can't code anything there.

The main beam or DRL indicator on the instrument cluster is gone for good in almost all the cars.

Don't worry - compared to some other cars your chances of driving without main beam at night are close to zero. The car would give you a message on the cluster if you are driving on DRL at night.

Besides that of course - just leave the light switch in Auto mode.

Another coding question.

Can I set the driving mode so that it remembers the last setting and does not reset to "Normal" again?

The answer is: yes and no.

Yes, this can be changed.

No, this is not done via coding - but via changing parameters (quite a bit more complicated  then coding with OBD11).

I did this in my car:

Hi, I am having trouble with several topics:

-Skoda virtual surround & subwoofer: in ECU 5F, it want to change byte 11 to "Sound_System_internal_individual", however there isn't any option available. Is this function special to certain SW or vehicle trims?

-Aircare always on: I changed ECU 08 adaptation "Filtering of interior air: store" from "service life dependent store" to "active", however, I still have to manually activate Aircare everytime. Is there further coding necessary?

-Emergency assist: I want to activate the function, is it part of Traffic Jam Assist? I did the following changes but there isn't any option appeared anywhere in the menus:

   -A5 -> Byte 10, bit 4-6 "20 Emergency_Assist, EA_Variant_2"

   -13 -> Byte 4, bit 2 "Emergency assist active"

   -09 -> Channel "Aussenlicht_Blinker-Warnblinken_durch_Fahrerassistenz" --> Active

 Lane assist is active any working properly

Thank you

Hi,

I have another couple questions about the FL models.

1. Is there a way to get the ACC / CC adjusted in single MpH / Km/h steps rather than the 5 MPH steps as it is now.

and

2. is there a good FL guide to code the Traffic Jam Assist?

Hi,

If not changed from non FL :

Pull the ACC stalk = +1 MPH / Km/h

Press "Set" at the end of the stalk = -1 MPH / Km/h

The FL does not have the CC / ACC on the indicator stalk but on a separate one below.

When you pull this stalk forward it activates ACC, LA and whatever else... The increments are in 5 MPH / Km/h up or down.

I was wondering whether there was a setting in the adaptation when coding the controller that I have missed.

exactly same on FL, and

stalk Up for + 10 Km/h, Down for -10 Km/h, Forward turns ACC Off

one important note, @Bap33 and me are talking about continental not UK steering wheel

i have/had (2023FL/2016Mk3) version without mode button

Are yours going up and down by 1 or 10 Km/h?

I cannot remember if I have have a Mode sign on mine. What does it do?
