  2. For the rear-facing camera, did you get the one which plugs directly into the side of the dashcam, or the one which is stuck to the tailgate window with a cable run to the main dashcam? If you got the one which is stuck to the tailgate window, did they do a tidy job with the cable, or is there a big cable loop hanging down between the tailgate and the roof liner?

  4. Update: OK there seems to be a bit of life left 🤒 buttons have their illumination at night power button causes the backlight to glow faintly (screen still black) little later, the animated logo displays ... ... then shuts down completely will repeat with further presses I'll give it a clean with my can of air, but further information or suggestions greatly appreciated. PS. dirt seems to be coming from a defective exhaust gas temperature sensor. I can get a spanner on it (i.6 has a bit of elbow room) but it isn't budging -- Is it easier to replace that bit of exhaust pipe?
  5. @defsix I replaced the camshaft sensor with a new original part from Skoda and after warming up the engine above 80 degrees, a strange sound came again and the engine light came on. So I don't know what to do next. I'll have the wiring checked and see
  6. The fact you unplugged the cam sensor and the sound went away is your biggest clue.
  7. Same here and I had already switched it off!!
  8. That's good news, mine is a 24 pre-facelift model! I have just 'Googled' the problem and the first response suggests that itis the KESSY system being activated by moving keys thus draining the 12v battery. Apparently leaving doors/ bonnet and/ or boot open whilst cleaning and polishing can also significantly drain the battery !
  9. Photo showing it in action.
  10. Hi Lee, Thanks for sharing your thoughts! You’re right that checking compatibility is important, as even cars built on the same platform can have differences in parts and specifications. The vehicle selection tool is there to make finding the right parts easier, but sometimes it’s worth double-checking details like engine codes, brake disc sizes, and chassis versions before ordering. This isn’t unique to AUTODOC, as fitment data
  11. You did well there, I’ve a set wrongly ordered and I’m well stumped on how to get the rubbers out…….?
  12. Personally, I change the oil and filter in my 2020 Kodiaq 2.0 ltr tdi 150 hp every 10'000 klms, using Castrol 05w 30 long lasting oil and MANN filters. I check it routinely, and generally find that at the 5-6'000 klm, it needs a 250-300 Ml of oil. Does this ring any bells with anyone?
  13. I did it on my 2023 VW UP using OBDEleven. The car has a physical lane assist button on the dash. The car now remembers the last mode it was in. So it is left in the off position, but I can turn it on if needed. ( for the MOT ) Thanks. AG Falco
  14. Hi all, Does anyone still have a Škoda DataPlug? I’ve made an Android app that uses the DataPlug to log trips and trip data and to detect refuelling automatically. All data is stored locally on your phone, with no account and no cloud. I’m looking for testers for a closed test on Google Play. It runs for at least 14 days. You’ll need a DataPlug and a phone with Android 8.0 or newer. If you’d like to help, please fill in this short form: [LINK] Thanks! 15. Hi Alasdair, Yes the issue is my canisters part number doesn’t seem to be listed. when you look at the info on the filters especially after market filters they usually say this filter will fit x canister etc hence the confusion as Pete checked my vin which shows a completely different canister part number.

  17. This thread has been helpful, unfortunately the holding down the red button trick has stopped working in my 2020 Karoq. I went into the local platinum dealership garage today and they were less than helpful. In fact I felt like they didn’t believe me and I was very surprised they had never heard of the problem! My husband had a kamiq with the same issue which was resolved with software update, but when I asked them about this they didn’t even know what software update that could be!! It’s booked in, but I can’t say I have any faith in them after their attitude today. I’m going to write down all the possible solutions offered here to present to them!

  20. Hello there. I am Ian from down in Sussex by the sea. I have just put a deposit down on a 2015 Skoda Octavia VRS TDI estate as a second car for commuting and providing me with way of getting all my carp fishing gear to the lakes for me. Im looking forward to owning this car as I have had a few cars over the years, including my tuned mini countryman Cooper s auto that was my deceased wife's car, until she passed away recently. I couldn't part with the car as I couldn't bear seeing somebody else driving her car. The Octavia has a DSG gearbox so I am kind of looking forward to driving this car on a daily basis. Please forgive me if I ask any stupid questions.

  22. @defsix Thanks for the advice, I'll try checking the wiring. But I think that if the wiring was bad, the sound wouldn't be so bad when the engine warms up, or could it be related?
  23. Hi lee01, viewing the vehicle tomorrow it has the 8.25 inch touch screen with digital cockpit i know if you have the 10 inch you can have a conventional speed rev counter layout, see what it's like tomorrow. Thanks

  25. Validation of readings from sensor using a separate meter. Resistance check on loom.
  26. Does yours display the map in the middle? Try the multi function steering wheel 'View' and use the thumbwheel to scroll and see what appears.
  27. I did it with the 'CARISTA EVO ' on my 2020 SEL for same reason so permanently off. Not sure if this is possible with newer cars though. Good luck anyway. I presume you know it can be temporarily switched off at each start ?

  29. 2025 Fabia Se edition 8inch touch screen, digital cockpit can you select speedo and rev counter side by side. Regards robsie
  30. My issue 2 years ago was a known software problem also affecting 74 plate Superbs and Kodiaks. I successfully rejected the car and got my money back. Skoda only admitted the problem after dragging it out for 2 months. I then bought a pre facelift 24 plate e tec that's been fine
