  2. Welcome to the forum. Your concerns about the DSG would tend to suggest it's a wise decision to leave it. Sounds expensive too, if exterior condition is as you describe - also a little odd given the interior condition.
  3. Snap from the Drivers Collection after everyone had gone 🤣
  4. And just had some show car vibes in the Skoda Attending The Drivers Collection , Mathewsons live and a few others šŸ–¤ not a bad summer, she goes to the body shop Saturday for the new custom painted genuine landing panel, radiator, air con condenser and a couple of bits sorting (may paint the front bumper and fit the Milltek vents) and then the work for next year starts with a re trim, if anyone can help me locate some alcantara or suede that matches the silver/white floor carpet as the door card on my side has delaminated 🫣 I did get a new steering wheel from @mr_trim_it on insta which is to go on too šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘
  5. Hi all, looking to pick some Octavia experts' brains. I've just been to look at a low mileage (51k) 2007 Octavia 1.9 TDi DSG Elegance, but there are a few things I'm not sure about and I'm second guessing myself a bit. I think part of it is it's all the money at £3k for a 19 year old car, and while it presents very well, is mint inside, comfortable and drives very well, very dry and clean underneath with no oil leaks etc, it's a bit shy of mint outside; it's had paint on the nearside doors and picked up a new scrape on the rear arch since, there are two or three dings on the doors, the paint's bubbling on the offside rear arch, and it really needs a new set of tyres - the fronts are old, and the rears for some reason are winter tyres! Part of it, though, is that there were a few things I wasn't comfortable with on the drive. At between about 38 and 52 there's an odd, low pitched and quite noticeable droning noise which seems to come from the front, and sounds like a harmonic or intake noise; it's enough to make the drive a bit unpleasant between 40 and 50. I struggled with the gearbox a bit, and I'm not sure if it's the gearbox or me; I found it a bit clunky and not smooth to shift. When accelerating gently from a standstill it seemed to creep, then surge with a bit of a thump, and the gear changes weren't always as smooth as I'd expect from a conventional automatic. It also seemed to surge while I was trying to creep into a parking spot. I also struggled with visibility. At a couple of junctions where I needed to see to the left the nearside A post seemed to almost completely block the view, and I had to dodge around to check the road was clear. It might be something you get used to, but it seemed to me it'd be very easy to miss a car coming from the left and get into trouble. I think I'm going to leave it, which seems a shame for what should be a nice low mileage car, but before I do I wanted to get some thoughts from the Octavia experts! Thanks in advance.

  7. Also won best water cooled at this years VW Festival (the final year at Harewood house)
  8. Won best Skoda at Tatton Park VW festival this year šŸ«¶šŸ»
  9. Further to the Primary user point. Today when I started the car I had to enter email and password, the welcome screen message said my profile had not been accessed for some time. If I didn’t enter it I could drive without Connect services. Initially I got the password wrong it made me Guest again. So being an active Primary user seems to be a requirement.
  10. :) thank you plenty hard work gone into it cheers she's good for an old un
  11. I found this on the internet. Looks like it could be quite an elegant solution to the problem of the big cable loop dangling between the roof liner and the rear tailgate. It’s a magnetic mount for the Nextbase rear camera which clips directly onto the edge of the roofliner, so you don’t need to stick the camera to the tailgate at all. I guess the only downside is that there’s more chance of catching it while loading bulky objects into the boot. https://www.dashcams.co.uk/post/magnetic-nextbase-rear-dashcam-mount-updated-vehicle-compatibility-list-customer-reviews-2026
  12. Today
  13. Everyday a School day. I am pleased it is working and i am wrong.
  14. I've adjusted the cable at the gearbox end. Happy days all is well. I have an automatic back. UP down, auto, paddles etc. OK I still need to retrieve my socket and extension but I can see it and it is out of harms way.
  15. Has anybody remapped their 2.0 diesel vRS? Can find several posts for the 245 bhp petrol model, but none for this. Does this mean there isn’t really the option to do it?
  16. Hi pab567 do you have the MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0253T software I can“t find it online anywhere thank you so much.
  17. Also I was told by another technician here at home that you can purchase and graded flash file for our cars, can this be confirmed, and that the flash can be done remotely via a special data cable?? I thought I read that somewhere on the web, "said software offering a little over 20hp plus torque"

  20. Hi all, just saying hello from the south coast. Not a Skoda owner, but might be on the way to it as I'm looking to replace my current car and a Skoda could be on the cards! Hoping to get some technical advice and tips on what to look for.

  22. Think he said as of 2020/21
  23. Tell me something else sometime ago I emailed Skoda parts located in the Czech republic regarding a replacement ECU and was told that Skoda no longer makes replacement ecu's for our mk1's But would that also include climate control units?? So it would appear that their inventory retains certain parts and discontinued others, oh dear.šŸ¤”šŸ¤”
  24. Hi can I have a quick question do you have by any chance the 253T software file I can“t find it anywhere online. Thank you so much.
  25. Hello again there good sir, thanks in advance, even though there are a few few fabias that has been scrapped I'm doubtful about he working condition of the climate control, but I'll check, I'll also check out your link, I have someone in England who cones home yearly for their holiday šŸ‘šŸ‘
  26. Should be 312mm vented front discs, 300mm solid (non-vented) rear discs. Plenty of places claim to provide the right options while offering all different options so check that. Have you checked the quick checks? Feel the wheels after a drive (carefully) - extra hot (hence the care) or cold will be a sticking caliper (stuck on or stuck off respectively). Stuck on means it’s on a bit but won’t move more to brake. Check brake fluid level. Perhaps have them bled too to make sure there’s no air in the system.

  28. @33q Stop. I posted last night on the phone and quickly. Leave the cable you are touching. The is for the pawl locking in PARK. The yellow plastic bit the release for when stuck in P. No way should that be to do with the issue you are having
  29. I'd never even heard of them till now. Just had a quick read and I think I'd have still gone with the standard ones. I'm a gentle cruiser these days :)
  30. Ever since I bought this car a year ago, I've been unimpressed with the braking. I find myself pressing the pedal far more than I'd expect - it doesn't give me a ton of confidence. The seller said they'd recently replaced the front discs - so I guess it was some really cheap stuff that went on due him knowing he was shortly selling the car? Not sure what sizes I'd need, but its the iV 1.4 petrol hybrid model, with 18" wheels. I guess these all have the same brake sizes. Can anyone recommend a good combination of discs and pads to swap in? FWIW, I don't do loads of miles, just a 10mile commute back and forth 3x per week - so performance is more important than durability for me. Thanks!
