Video is not as per VW Group / Skoda. You get a different level showing Stone Cold (Always know where it is cold which you need before setting off.) or at Normal operating Temperature, not just Warm & after a few minutes. Oil Filter as used by VW since 2012. Either up top or lower. Easy, try Cold you can do that every time. If you just serviced it and know how much is in then great. Then compare as VW says on every engine other than a 44kW 1.2 with only 2.8 litre capacity. Check Cold.

And yet, these bargain-basement dangerous sockets and other electrical items are still slipping through their fingers by the thousands and ending up on sale to electrical contractors via electrical wholesalers all over the UK. I have worked for Crabtree Electrical, Ashley & Rock and Hager over the years. The other scam is good-quality electrical sockets, etc., allegedly purchased for export, being delivered direct to the docks FOB (Free On Board), and then these same products end up being sold, once again, in the UK via the distribution network, which I also had to track down. A secret coding system identified the affected products, and they were impounded.

Talking to Lloyd Skoda in Carlisle they originally expected to have an Epic viewable in the showroom in February, but now hope for January. Simpsons Skoda in Preston however think they will have a left hand drive one to view only in the showroom in mid September. Guess I'll keep monitoring them both every now and then.

Correct, but the bit of interest was the plug-in balcony solar that @lol-lol was extremely keen to see and get. Sockets like that have been getting the destruction order for decades, and I have personally been involved in searching out stocks of these in wholesalers' and importers' warehouses and getting them destroyed. The YouTube channel is designed for the electrical trade only, so it really is not clickbait as we all know it; it is designed to draw the viewer's attention to the particular type of socket and alert them to the dangers they bring. Once upon a time, it was simply a matter of saying that all sockets made in China were not to be used in the UK and electrical wholesalers shouldn't stock them. These days, that statement cannot be used, as the major players in the wiring accessory industry (MK, Ashley & Rock, Crabtree, BG and Scolmore etc), have shipped their production to China and the surrounding area.

i always measure cold, pull dipstick out, wipe, leave overnight and than put in and out. if i try to pull it out when engine is hot, it wont come out easy, it have rubber O-ring that seals, and when hot it cant move easily.

Thank you for the reply sussamb I had forgotten about that switch. I tried it yesterday with just the ignition on and it made no difference. This morning I had another try with the engine running and it worked. So problem seems to be solved. Thank you. I hadn't pressed that switch originally that I am aware of. Sometimes I think that the car has a mind of it's own. I normally have the MFD on MPH but every time I start the car it's on something different, and often whilst driving it will change to something else. Thank you again.

That's hilarious clickbait. What's being ordered for destruction is a certain brand and specific type and colour of 2 gang sockets with switches that were made in China. It's one of DOZENS of product safety recalls that happens regularly. Best selling car (not just EVs) in China, about half million, which is by far largest car market in the world. Not as good looking as the R5 IMO but good price especially in 47 KWh battery...... Geely own Polestar and Volvo, part own Aston and also numerous other brands. Good boot and Frunk size too. Spacious but slowish charging. 115 hp and bit slow to 60 ie 11 seconds. Could sell quite well.

Coming back to this as I've toyed with a few things we thought would fix it. So far, we've replaced the oil filler neck and the cap itself - if you have a leak here it will prompt the same codes (P1504 and P1553) as I have been having. However, this was not what was causing mine after replacing it with a known good neck/cap from a spares car. Chucked a smoke generator on the vacuum system and identified that the intake manifold has been leaking where it meets the engine itself. I haven't fitted the new (used, known good) one yet as not had the time but I'm hopeful this will fix it. If anyone else is doing the same, make sure you replace the gasket too. I'll report back with my findings as soon as I have them.

Not quite the same thing, but my mate (who isn't on here I don't think) and I retrofitted rear electric windows from a donor Elegance to my old 2006 Mk1, although being a later one there were some CAN/LIN incompatibilities. I think the main thing I'd advise is making sure you have a Comfort Control Module that is capable of running these things, as I know there's a certain spec of these that have a stripped down system that cannot be adapted. @Tech1e might know more than I do about this actually.

My dipstick is exactly the same as the manual describes BUT there is not ANY treatment at the marked area as shown in S19-0760 picture - it is just plain steel. That is why is difficult to see the border between wet and dry. The other reason is when inserted is becomes wet and dirty almost everywhere...

My Fabia's Owner's Manual describes checking the oil fill-level as shown in the attachment below. The Fabia's dipstick is black-coloured steel and (as fabiamk4man has said) it is not easy to spot the level, particularly when the (thin) oil is clean. About 3.14 into this video it is suggested that laying the dipstick against a piece of kitchen towel is a useful means of identifying the oil-level and I've used that method successfully for many years.

It shouldn't have been that hard or tricky... easy things are made difficult by vw...

You are dealing with people on a keyboard that can be anyplace and who know nothing about cars / Skoda's. Even Communication / Resolution Managers might have more experience of selling shoes / trainers or serving fast food than motorised vehicles.

Try taking a photo with phone and then zoom in on it to try to see the wet/dry boundary.

Are you checking it both ways, stone cold before the engine is started to see plenty oil, & as required at Normal Operating Temperature after stopped a few minutes, so 4 or 5 and when the oil is at an indicated 90*oC or so? You can wipe the dipstick and then maybe a very light dusting if talc powder on the dipstick. I used to use french chalk on difficult dip sticks. Only a Tiny amount.

I admit that it is quite difficult for me to clearly see the oil level on the dipstick every time. It usually gets all dirty when it is inserted, and in addition the space in which the level should be is pitch black and without any treatment to hold the oil and thus clearly show the level... I wonder if anyone else has the same problem and if so, what they have done to deal with it...
