  1. Towed my caravan for the first time today, I was very impressed with how it did it with ease. Equally as good as the VW Tiguan it replaces. Yetis make surprisingly good tow cars... 2017 SKODA YETI 2.0L TDI 4x4 OUTDOOR SE L DRIVE TDI SCR DSG
  2. I think the ignitor for a curtain airbag is around the B-pillar but it extends over both windows and down the A-pillar Much like this example image for a Golf:
  3. Ok took door card off and undid metal plate and just managed to prise open bottom right corner enough to get my hand in making sure not to bend inner window frame and sure enough the connector had come away. Alot of feeling as not able to see in managed to get connector back on and made sure it was securely on the terminal catch. Bit fiddley but now works fine.
  4. Sorted. Well hopefully. Great customer service from Aviva. The claim was still open but the claimant had apparently never come back with any evidence. So NCB will be reinstated and renewal go ahead.
  5. Today I have genuinely come across one of the most professional companies I have ever dealt with. After having my towbar fitted by a local fitter who did a great job but struggled with the coding I came across Telford towbars. Booked me in at short notice and after a 1hr drive arrived at the absolutely immaculate premises. The guys there could not have been more helpful & professional. Coding sorted within the 1hr and on the way back home. I cannot recommend these guys enough as it is so rare to come across such nice people.
  6. Well along with my vRS, i have just bought this little badger for my daughter as a first car. 8000 miles and a little minter!

    Cupradev. 😬
  8. They are indeed very good, the lack of rear axle overhang makes a big difference.
  9. Hi I've just bought my car and noticed this in the manual so I just ordered the bits for both sides from Skoda but not the net, picking them up Saturday morning, just over £12
  10. From a 2019 Superb owners manual: So no, there is no phone control when fitted with a VC as far as I know
  11. It's the same in the UK, if a car doesn't have a VIN number then it's likely stolen or some other illegal activitie has happened, but it's perfectly legal to replace a engine so long as you inform the DVLA of the change and supply the new engine number 👍
  12. I have reluctantly had to to purchase a new VW Golf Alltrack instead of a new Octavia. I drive on rough tracks a fair bit, and both our Octavia Scout Mk3 and SE 4x4 had underbody protection, ("Rough Road pack" for the SE), and raised ground clearance, but this option doesn't seem to exist for the Mk4, and of course there is apparently not going to be a Scout model in the UK even though it is available elsewhere in Europe. I am a bit sad to not be getting another Skoda, but the Golf Alltrack looks like a nice bit of kit, and with the Mk 8 the Golf estate is almost the same size as the Octavia (just 50mm shorter), so that feature of the Octavia is no longer such a big deal as it was with the Mk 7 Golf estate. Things I will not get with the Golf: Colours are not as interesting as for the Octavia No USB port by rear view mirror Doesn't look quite as good as the new Octavia Scout (IMV). Slightly smaller internal space (although not all the dimensions are available to be sure about this). After I placed my order for the Golf, Skoda announced the Sportline, which addressed one of my other issues which was the lack of a 200PS 4x4 option in a non-VRS model, although the Sportline still hasn't appeared in any way on the Skoda UK website, not even in the April pricelist. I got an extremely good deal on the Golf, with a discount that was very much better than I could find on an Octavia, and also the lead-time at about twelve weeks was much better as well. So hopefully I will be driving my new Golf in about eight weeks from today. The other thing that I will miss is that I haven't found an online community which is the equal of BriSkoda, but maybe I just haven't found it yet? The VW forums I have found so far (of which there are quite a few) are more fragmented and none are as active and comprehensive as BriSkoda!
  13. Mine gets pretty hot under the bonnet anyway. I put it down to having an engine
  14. Staro30, I know you said you have a brand new battery but did you charge it first? I have nearly always spotted a new battery that is supposedly fully charger, to be around 60-70% charged and that, as far as the car is concerned, is half-charged and Fabia's hate semi flat batteries! I now take the precaution of fully charging any new battery, prior to fitting it and won't rely on the car doing it for me. If you think about it, stop start technology prevents the system working at around a 70% battery charge!

From the same German forum. Looks like sw 1803 really exists and is already available. Unfortunately this is a unit ending with D.
  16. Yes and yes especially the last part. Doing it yourself at least you know it's been done. Never had much luck with brake bleeders etc, but tried the gravity method when changing brake fluid on our Megane. Ok, so it took way longer but no mess , no trying to juggle one man bleeders/air pressure pumping foot peddle etc and no reversing seal on master cylinder , all events I've 'enjoyed' in the past .
  17. That is good news and basically what happened with my false claim. The insurance company (AA) sent a letter asking for more details to the claimant's insurance company. As they had not heard anything back after a set period they closed the claim with no impact on my NCD of claims record.
  18. yeah can do. Basically I didn’t have to trim the little tabs, just heat everything up so it’s nice and warm, peal back the tape and push into place and the location tabs will click into place. Sounds like they lock into the locating points by the noise it makes. 😊
  19. Can you share some detail, just on the off-chance someone else has the same issue
  20. PetrolDave is correct. The Media app will read MP2, MP3, WMA, AAC, M4A, OGG, FLAC, WAV, etc audio files, so just about anything you can throw at it. My iTunes library holds my music in mP3 and WMA files. And my USB stick is a Integral 128GB Fusion Dual USB-C & USB 3.1 Flash Drive - 200MB/s (see at Integral 128GB Fusion Dual USB-C & USB 3.1 Flash Drive - 200MB/s £20.96 - Free Delivery | MyMemory) which is small enough to sit in the USB-C port under the sliding flap to the phonebox compartment. 21. Not only cut corners but scrimp on costs and many are hamfisted too. My dealer refuses point blank to tell me what oil they use but keep on insisting that is 502.00 oil and is the correct oil for my 2018 1.4 tsi CZEA despite the factory embossed label on the slam panel that says use 504.00/507.00 oil. Skoda UK customer services told me the correct oil is 508.00 oil. And guess what, after the first service I struggled to get low 40s mpg whereas before it was high 40's easily (average over the first 2 years, before first service) They also appeared to have overtightened the sump plug (my assesment looking at damage to steel washer on returned item that I always insist) so come the 2nd service a new one fitted leaks and now needs an extra crush washer, which they claim is the advice from "Skoda technical". Many Independents are no better, I just just changed my sons Octavia oil, boy was that sump plug tight! Well damaged steel washer again! 30Nm should make only the lightest imprint. And often when certain independents have removed wheels to carry out repairs or change tyres, I've had to use my 900mm breaker bar to remove the wheel nuts. Fortunately without damage to the locking nut.
  22. I wouldn't bother buy that though, you'd get the same effect by using sand paper...
  23. I'm getting fed up with the charmed life that Mr. Hamilton seems to lead.
  24. To be fair they arrived this morning, so roughly two weeks since order to get to UK. Been in customs for most of that time.
  25. theres another thread about superskoda, and recent orders to the UK reaching Holland after a couple of months, then being sent back to Superskoda as not deliverable to the UK. their customer service is also notoriously slow to deal with anything...
  26. The Karoq has the same part so it will fit. Also, if you look at the back of your car you'll probably find that it says Karoq and not Koroq.
  27. Wife has them (electric ones) in her Mokka. Extra support for those with long legs like me and not necessary for those with short legs like her. I get into trouble for moving it out when i drive her car. Seat shouldn't be any less comfortable with them if you have them in the right position for your legs. Once you have had them you want them in every car . . . . .
  28. No, you're right, the TDI engine is fundamentally different, the guys a moron.
  29. Yes, there are just some tweaks in maps for improved starts etc., otherwise, they are identical.
  30. Agree with you about not caring about fuel consumption...all city driving.. adv 20kmh... dublin traffic nightmare !!!

  32. It's definitely not manky! Looks great and a bargain at £1500. It may be worth more now... Enjoy and do report back how the mighty 245 does 😎
  33. Funny enough I placed an order yesterday and was wondering on time. Seems a long while. I had Ali express items come in a week so I can't see pandemic making that much difference

Fitted my pedal box at the weekend and got to try it out today for the first time properly. Certainly transforms the pedal feel and the pickup from standstill, also seems to make the stop/start less jerky at pull away. Tried it in Comfort and Sport but not Sport+ yet. A good improvement over the standard pedal feel.

ours is two years younger but has done 116k miles but I hope to get a few more years out of it yet, all cars cost money to run unfortunately, good luck with the mkiii
  36. Generally not. I drive to the system (advanced driving) and always brake early and smoothly. Never last minute unless having to do an emergency brake. Or unless the wife drives the car and forgets there isn't a clutch pedal. #whiplash 🤣 Just a thought I would also check your pads, as they might be vibrating in the caliper housing with build up of brake dust and crud on the lip where the pads slide on.
  37. Answering to myself, the fix was easier than what first thought.. The small rubber piece between the front and rear gear linkage segments(between seats) had perished so that it seemed to be in ok condition at first sight, but actually was missing the whole bottom half and thus didn´t allow the linkage tube to turn enough. A new piece was cut from some similar piece of rubber and reverse gear was found again.
  38. Mk4 gripes included but weren’t limited to the buggy and laggy MIB3 (though you get that on the 2021 Superb as well, my 2020 Facelift non iV has the MIB2.5 which has been flawless), the quality of the plastics and fit and finish was noticeably poorer than my Mk3, the seat fabric felt cheap and marked easily, no vRS logo’s on the rear seats which looks cheap too, no option to upgrade seats yet to half leather to combat that (though it doesn’t help the cheap plastics, especially in the rear), very little extra space inside over the Mk3, no interesting colours (now we have Mamba Green though so that’s something) and the biggest issue is that the spec needs too many options for me to consider a worthy alternative to my Mk3. The Superb also needed a spec bump but at 14 months old and 6500 miles it had lost £15.5k so it made sense for me to get a nearly new one with the options I wanted as brand new even with discounts was far too much £.
  39. This is going to be a long post! Finally got to splitting the 5 Speed box to finally see what the damage was and there was nothing left of 4th gear So began the hunt for parts LNK 0A8 sourced from Vee-Dubs in Newcastle Sam Levett sorted me out with driveshafts, Cable ends, Starter, Gearbox mount. My friend Greig sort out a clutch and pressure plate from his Fabia that only had 200 miles on it, Also gave me a spare set of drive shafts, spare set of mounts as well as a the dog bone mount and a gear cable bracket. And Darkside Developments came through with a flywheel, shifter, oil, bolts needed, dust tin , clutch line and slave cylinder Not much was saved from the 5 speed, everything is different even down to the driveshaft bolts were all different and had to be replaced. But its back on the road Testing to see what speeds we get in different gears as i couldn't find the ratios for this.
  40. Indeed!! Unintentionally over exposed, but came out surprisingly well......
  41. Judging by that picture, no.
  42. A couple of us have bought the custom box below which fits in the space behind the near side rear wheel arch, it’s for a 10” sub though: From my experience that 10” sub is more than enough! Hope that helps, Nick
  43. My 12 inch sub is fitted in the spare wheel well, as my car didn't come with a spare wheel. Amps and DSP all fit in there as well. No issues with volume.
  44. Check alternator output and battery voltage. ECU cuts power to the steering when the voltage drops too low.
  45. This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for! Any chance you would be willing to make another one and send it down under? Would happily pay for your time and expertise!!!
  46. new figures 228bhp 431.1nm (317.8 ft lbs)
