Speed cameras ,speed humps massive amount of traffic ,i think its things like this that takes the fun out driving now ,and years ago you knew the quick cars on the road ,but even the family wagon is a fast thing nowadays ,its all become less involving .

A VW Up GTI maybe. Or maybe something that has not much power, but rear wheel drive and OEM ditch finder tyres and you can get loads of fun within the UK NSL. Or get a BMW i3 / VW ID.3 and have fun & range anxiety.

Ah well the solution for Seat mib2 high owners is to get the Skoda lifelong navigation FeC on your unit. "Easy enough" needs 08300008 added then you can enjoy all the benefits of Skoda 😉. We say easy enough. You either find a retrofitter to do it for you or do it yourself. Currently not many of those in the UK that touch Seat Mib 2 Highs since they were not marketed as much as Skoda by Seat. The DIY solution doesn't cost anything but needs VCDS / Obdeleven skills to enable the green menu. Then you use Mib Tool and guys from the M.I.B. collective. German DEB board has postings since its all in German to an extent. You can do a firmware upgrade but obvious risks to that or stick on current firmware. Mib Tool runs on a SD card in the unit. Contains a module for each firmware release they have looked at. If a module exists for your firmware then it will recognise that when you back up. If it doesn't you are invited to supply the backup to the "collective" (I call them that). Useful to be on a board where they are. Then some useful guy may offer help. It's possible for them to create a dummy patch module. You then install that into the patch folder of Mib Tool, go into the patch module option but don't import the module, it's a dummy one, just tap AddFecs. Come out and reboot (the long press on/off). Check installed FeCs and Bobs your Uncle. You can write the dummy module yourself but I reckon that's too complex. The FeC table in the patch is a normal txt one and can be edited. The process circumvents the program "Whatthefec" since FeC edits are built in. They have Skoda modules as well. Worth looking at if troubled by FeCs🤣. But obviously Skoda drivers are not, just Seat being petty. Normal success pictures attached... got there in the end.

Go into Module 5F MultiMedia Select Adaptations, then Car_Functions_List_BAP_Gen2 Select traffic_sign_recognition_0x21, and set to Activated Select Adaptions, Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu Select menu_display_road_sign_identification, set to Enabled Select Coding, and then select Byte 24, activate Bit 6 – (was already ticked in long coding) Go into Module A5 - Front Sensor Driver Assistance Select Coding, and then select Byte 16, activate Bit 4 (‘Traffic Sign Recognition VZE’ ->Coded) Go into Module 17 Dash Board Select Coding, then Byte 5, active bit 2 (‘Traffic Sign Recognition Installed’ -> Activated) Go back into Module A5 - Front Sensor Driver Assistance Select Adaptations, then Road sign detection fusion mode, and change to Road Sign Detection. The original was Road Sign Fusion Enter Code 20103 to save the change Reboot the infotainment unit

I drove through torrential rain the other day and it didn't let anything in. I have though paid for a k&n air filter sock to cover the filter, Weeks ago i bought a roll of 3M magnetic tape. It's only a few mm thick and i made these for when the car is parked up, until i can find the time to make a better rain guard....

I wonder if the car has an third party remote immobiliser fitted and hidden away somewhere that you've triggered by removing a fuse? If you bought the car within the last 30 days from a dealer or trader, then it may be easier to just let them fix it under the Consumer rights Act 2015. Don't tell them what you've done though!

@xman Battery voltage 12.1 Fuse 16,17,18 all have 12v each side of the fuse. Taken fuses out and checked continuity (meter). Fitted new fuses. @UndertheRadar I'll do a battery disconnect now.

I owned a diesel F10 5 series before switching to the Superb and rate the Superb higher in most areas, particularly space, practicality, reliability and refinement. The G30 that you are looking at is a much finer package than the F10, and having driven one recently came away very impressed. It was a high mileage car that felt almost like new. In a Superb with similar mileage there would be rattles and it would feel it's age much more. For a diesel it was remarkably refined. The sound sound system in the BMW is really rubbish though. BMW are notorious for having really crappy audio and even the upgraded Harman-kardon is pretty average. The lack of folding rear seats as standard as well just wrecks my head and would be a deal breaker for me. If I was given a choice between the two for similar money on a PCP it would be very hard to overlook the BMW. You have an interesting decision to make!

Bad engineering idea to lower CO2 emissions . I'll really take my time to have a test drive on my next car to check it doesn't have this stupid default setting! I don't feel in a safe car, when coasting is activated! Additionally, I don't see how it can really save fuel and CO2 emissions since coasting sets the engine ~at idle, whereas normal mode fully shuts fuel injection and hence makes no CO2 emission at all. A quick look at instant consumption display on the dashboard simply confirms this.

Looks far better than I thought it woukd, and makes me smile like a 70's viva with a cherry bomb would. ( thats a good thing) Cant remember if you said the engine but assume it wont drip anto anything 'sensitive" when it rains?,

2018 L&K 2.0 TSI estate, 19K miles £22840 should have DCC, Canton and lots of extras at Birchwood Skoda Eastbourne. Reliable smooth. From my experience very little road tyre noise compared to Golf GTI. Some fluttering from the door mirror. 40 Mpg on the run, not sure when the 7 speed DSG box was introduced but DSG is smooth. The DCC will removes the floatiness on twisting roads. I expect the TDI 190 L&K would be similar, especially if it’s is a 4x4 version.

My last Cupra was certainly faster and more fun than the previous two vRS's. It took a test drive to open my eyes though.

Hello again, after all these second hand mechanics (4-5 of them I went to) voiced their opinions on the issues, especially the gas smell and abnormal fuel consumption, my father in law came this weekend to visit, also the toolbox i ordered arrived friday so it was the perfect time to check the engine cover and guess what, after we changed a gasket to thicken the seal, changed one bolt that was loose, now it doesn't rattle anymore and the smell is gone. It was because that engine cover was loose after all, and the gases were escaping the oil pit or whatever you call it (not good at english). This didn't make sense to me as to why a recipient that holds oil would release petrol gases, still doesn't, but whatever at least now it's fixed, will have to check if the fuel consumption also drops. I only have to clean my injectors and change the 2 lambda sensors to be sure i'm on the track, even though the sensors most likely will fail again after a few months. So i kept the engine cover after all @TMB and also thanks for the video that covers how to seal my rear doors, after this rain stops I will get to work now that I also have new tools (including torx) @GordonSuperbmk2 that was the my decision after all these "mechanics" didn't know the issue, to go to a skoda dealer and have the actual tester used that shows everything, but glad i didn't have to now All that remains are the air vents from under the front seats, facing the rear passengers feet. I really wanna improvise something, maybe like a bend made out of plastic, so the mats don't block the vents anymore and they're actual functioning..

Agm batteries require a slightly higher charging voltage to EFB. I believe you need to change the battery type setting from EFB to Fleece (not AGM)* using a diagnostic tool to take this into account. Changing the serial no. resets the SOH so that the battery manangement assumes a new battery has been fitted. *Fleece is another name for AGM+ which uses modified construction and requires even higher charging voltages than traditional AGM.

I p/x my 2013 Octavia Mk 3 for a 2016 Superb Exec. with 17 inch wheels last May. I was disappointed with the soft suspension, especially over speed humps. So I purchased Bilstein B6 shocks, and my independent workshop installed them for £240. Great difference with original springs, and the car is now a delight to drive. Insurance company ok'd change. Thanks to those who reported on Bilstein's in previous posts.

Maybe, or you could just get a magnifying glass and a fine pointy thing and lever the loose contacts carefully inwards towards each other.

Our local vw do a check after 1000 miles. I asked Skoda about this and they don't. Never had it on any other cars either to be fair so I'm not worried about it.

A few more questions. I have done a few tweaks using Carista as below 1. Passenger mirror fold on reverse (it now shows as ticked on infotainment menu) - unless I am doing something wrong, nothing happens when I select “l” on mirror switch though? 2. Fan speed in auto - works ok 3. beep on lock/unlock - works ok i now have mirror puddle lights and think I selected that on Carista but not sure if they were already standard/working? Is there a way to also have mirrors to only fold out on ignition rather than on unlocking car? fInally, checked oil level and when pushing dipstick back in, when it is seated it seems to be “loose” / does not click/lock in - is that normal? sorry for all the questions , but that’s me when getting a new car! I am now a freedom lite member so can edit posts, but there does not seem to be a delete facility? Is that normal ?

Not fully charging the battery saves energy otherwise taken from fuel. Stop Start batteries particularly AGM operate fine at 80% charged so there is no point using fuel to drive the alternator to charge to 100%. Off throttle coasting switches the alternator on to charge the battery above 80% so that it’s a ‘free’ charge that can be used for a while before the voltage drops and the alternator has to be engaged again. A standard flooded battery can’t handle the duty cycle as well as an EFB or AGM and wear out quicker.

No it was from MY16 on the pre-facelift so a 2017 is likely to have the smaller 312mm disks Calipers are made by TRW, nothing wrong with them and either size is fine. What you lose in heat capacity and ultimate stopping power you gain in unsprung mass.

ACT is not noticeable in driving the only time I notice it when it the dash changes and I look to see what come up. Totally seemless

I can help you with phone connectivity as I just did the needed upgrade for my bolero unit. Start by checking which bluetooth unit you have. It's under your right side front seat, under the plastic cover which slides forward.

Strange that VAG/Skoda have changed the DSG control laws. I don't have this on my DSG6 DQ250. If I really enjoy it, I doubt I would be satisfied with coasting as a 'standard' mode on my car.

Hi Noli, very likely a Golf 8 version of the same size engine will fit. I got a Golf 7 engine cover for my 1.4 TSI, which also came from the factory without one. Personally I think the engine bay looks more finished with one fitted. Try the 'Bay.

'Chipping' using an add-on 'box' may be making a bit of a come-back as it bypasses the newer ECU security and can generally be removed without trace.

Nope... MIB2 pre-lift versions have green backlight. Only facelfited versions (MIB2.5) have white backlight

It could be down to getting used to how it works. The boot normally requires an 'in/out' kick and touch 'only' the door handle dimple to lock.

It's not clear from your description but has the car had the door carriers sealed up? If not, here's a video...

There should be a cap provided from the factory for use during servicing. They are clipped to the underside of the engine cover. You might find that it is missing, though. The cap is the same as was used on the Felicia 1.3. Part number 047103485. New caps usually come without the rubber seal which is 047103487

Hi M, i had a Roomster for 11years, went a little OTT, uprated springs and shocks, leather seats etc. I always think wheels can make a big difference to car, but dont know how far you want to go with things. A couple of simple things are, wind deflectors, and window blinds, they would look good on a black car. So just some things to start with.

This is a common issue. I used obdeleven to soft reset the central electronics module (09) and the infotainment (5F). After that, it was available again. Maybe you can try, if you don't have VCDS or obdeleven, to unplug the cable from the battery and connect it after a few minutes.
