I thought I'd add my tenpenneth as I have just fitted and immediately removed a set of xenon bulbs to my Yeti. Sick of being blinded on my way to work in the mornings I fancied a set of super white bulbs so I could 'give some back' on full beam This was last week when the roads by me were really icy and not treated as I'm quite rural, the roads are quite safe as the icy bits can easily be seen. Once the xenon bulbs were fitted I was quite surprised to see there was no ice on the road next morning despite having scraped the windscreen, so speeds went up a bit. That's when I noticed my first issue in that that the xenon bulbs caused a lot of reflection from leaves, grass verges and the road surface itself that all looked very similar. Approaching familiar bends at speed I realised that if I didn't actually KNOW the road I would have ended up in the hedge as there was no definition. Then I got a glimpse of the road surface from someone else's yellow headlamps and realised the road actually were VERY icy and I couldn't see it due to the white light from the xenons! ( Thank you Cross Climates) I took the bulbs out, and have gone back to my old 'yellow' bulbs, perhaps the KIngs Clothes are not so great after all?

But the OP isn't saying he's bothered about being able to see where he's going; he needs the car to look cool and modern to others, or himself if he walks around it with the lights on. Total mystery to me, but it seems to be a very common affliction.

We collected our new 'temporary' 200 TDi L&K on Saturday after coming to a satisfactory arrangement with the dealer. Now we have to wait another 6 months for the correct ordered spec to arrive! Still on the plus side another new car in 6 months. 😆 Anyway, the new one feels so different to our old 190TDi Edition to drive. The engine on the new car feels a lot more than just a 10bhp uplift and the overall quality of the cabin (even if it is the wrong colour for now) feels a step up. It is annoying that little details like the spare wheel being covered under the boot floor has gone, torch in the boot gone, door protectors gone (I have got really good at fixing those in 15 mins), window buttons losing the bright edging, felt lining on the door bins gone. Also there is now nowhere to plug in a drive with all our music on without having cables trailing about, so I need to find a small USB C flash drive that will allow me to shut the cover where you place your phone. It all relies on music though phone apps. Also the key allocation takes a while to sort and now it doesn't remember the drive mode so you have to set that every time. So all in all some improvements but some annoying steps back. But back to lead times. The dealer did say that they are dropping fast and although they have planned on a 6 month wait for our replacement it should be shorter. The one that we have now took 4.5 months from order to dealer which wasn't that bad and our L&K has all the kit on plus Travel Assist and 20" wheel.

Engine code tells everything. Engine code of 272 is DNU, no MPI. New 280 engine code should be DNF, no MPI as well. Both of them pair with 7 speed DSG, and have GPF. While CJX, has both direct injection and mpi, pairs with 6sp DQ250, and works without GPF. That's the engine and transmission Australian received in their Superb Sportlines. "Australia is at a risk of becoming an 'automotive third world'", that's one of the VW local spokeman in Australia claimed. Australia is still under EURO 5 emission regulation, so VW basically dumping all the dated engines into OZ market to cut cost.

Big news from the dealer, my RS ordered in May is finally done and arriving to Lithuania. No spec changes afaik, other than new colour. What is even more strange is that the dealer also received another RS that was configured by the factory and it also has Canton, but it's a MY22 since it has the challenge pack too. They're currently selling it, without any discount obviously. 🤣 So it seems like Canton is still possible to put in, but they don't let you order it. Maybe trying to fill all the orders and build up stock for the next year?

How many miles has it done? Does it run well once started, full power, smooth, with reasonable fuel consumption? It needs to be scanned with a diagnostic tool to check for error codes. Might throw up a sensor issue, such as crankshaft or camshaft sensor. Check all wiring and connections. Timing should be checked. A specialist would be able to sort it.

Replace the coolant temperature sensor for starters, it's cheap, quick and easy to do, just unplug it for now and try starting it.

Normally if the cam sensor goes it will still start as it uses the crank sensor as it's main reference but if the crank sensor goes it won't start

If they sit flush with the wheel arch they'll hit it under full compression.

I never in a million years would consider to be in the same situation as my parents when ordering Zastava Yugo back at the beginning of 90s 😆

Just a quick note. Although Michelin are a French company, it is not a guarantee that the tyres will be made in France. I have had German Michelins, my C3 has Spanish Michelins and my daughter's car has UK Michelins. So I suspect it may be difficult to specify French made Michelins. I'm having 2 new Michelins on our C3 on Friday. Manufacture date and originating country will be interesting!

It's no better in the UK. I ordered early August but there's been no information or sign of progress since then. I like to pretend that the longer it takes the better the software will be...

Hi All, I have just bought a 2018 2.0 TDI 4X4 SEL trim to replace an ageing discovery 3. I agree with all the posts regarding the Karoq. It is an outstanding car, the trim and seats are excellent for a mid trim model, and the lack of high end features radar etc are probably a blessing in the long term as discussed above. Its driving modes give a range of performance and economy to suit most needs. Features like easily removable rear seats make it a great utility vehicle, or big boys toy transporter. Regards Bob

Call from the dealer yesterday: my car is in Emden awaiting the ferry. Depending on how soon it gets on to a ferry, it should be ready for delivery to me 2 - 3 weeks from now. Car was built in week 1, which does appear to have actually been the case despite reports of factory closure etc. Car is a 1.5 SE estate, only options being the simply clever and LED light packs, plus metallic paint. Ordered last week of September 2021 so looks like 4 months all up, much faster than I was initially advised.

Seen this crop up across Facebook groups recently on the mk3. Being winter its showing the age of the batteries. Plus the mk3 stop start stops the car from charging the battery to full. Its recommended to turn off stop start when traveling on the motorway or long journeys, and turning it back on again when you enter the city for stop start driving. Low voltage on the battery can cause the ECU / BCM to receive faults as a result. The sensors receive low voltage which then send a wrong voltage to the ECU / BCM causing the car to think there is a fault as a result causing those errors. If you don't drive the car a lot its worth investing in a smart charger (CTEK) to keep these battery topped up but its worth also getting the current battery tested as if its dead its not worth charging it over and over again, best to replace and keep topping the new one up to help with longevity. They are not cheap to replace either as they are AGM batteries and require coding once installed.

So in septmber i will have owned my 14 plate 1.4TSI DSG Elegance for 3 years, but after a long time absence form these very pages (life got in the way) i come on to say i still enjoy and love my car, although i might treat her to some new DSG gearbox oil this year, the dreaded DQ220 7speed box, but still going strong at 45k miles, yep 2014 car with just 45k genuine miles. Must say i still prefer the MK2 interior though, just seems to have a bit more "character" to it i think. The MK3 interior although a very nice place to be and very comfy is a bit err bland to to me.

The last one there has me in tears laughing! The rubber chicken was a serious consideration though...

To answer Ketts question. I'd have a look on powerbulbs.com website. They list loads of bulbs often with the colour temperature listed. You can filter by bulb fitting & best performance or styling. The styling bulbs are generally the more blue or less yellow but can sacrifice overall performance. Are you fitting OEM or aftermarket ? either way I think you'll find it a lot easier to remove the bumper cover to run the wiring from the sensors to the control unit and with the bumper removed I think you'll find the cover is marked as to where the sensors should be fitted

Few little bits today, boot struts swapped boot seal swapped rear speakers fitted beats spare wheel sub and tool kit put in, And the boot trim with light obviously not wired in but when I run the new loom will all be plug and play

@areed had posted pictures of the previous head gasket too. @areed 's previous head gasket was a TEMAC. From your previous posts, I think you are not the first owner of the car. So we don't know the exact number of HG replacement. Important questions now: - How will the head look like when it's cleaned? What's the current situation of the surface? (Straightness of the entire head surface and status of the previous pits especially around coolant holes) - Can the head skimmed further if needed? - I've heard about a filler material for the corrosion pits. That must be applied before skimming. (not sure about the product name JB Weld Extreme heat ???) - Will applying JB Weld Extreme Heat to fill the pits, skimming the head again and using thicker head gasket save the head? Or at least buy enough time for justifying the effort? There are "thicker than normal" head gaskets on the market. Which might help to solve the issue.

Perhaps I should have asked this first. So its reasonable that the battery is ok. And you need to look at that ignition switch or your immobiliser. Have you tried the spare key?

Hello All, new member here. I was following this topic for some time as reference what's going on across Europe with Kodiaq deliveries. I'm from Bulgaria and decided to share the situation from Eastern Europe. Kodiaq FL 2.0 TSI, 190hp Vision (Vision is package available only for our region I believe, and closest reference is L&K). Most important it was the last chance of getting Canton + Side assist. Ordered 6th of November 2021. Delaer reached out at December 6 with proposal to remove Canton + Side assist with the assurance I'll have the car around New Year. I declined since it's no rush for me. Today I received an update that Skoda Factory have not accepted the order yet, hence no build date. Even further the dealer is not sure that they will be able to provide the Canton and Side assist at all, so there's a great chance I'm just waiting for nothing. Sorry for any punctual or grammar errors, but it is what it is...

Mine needed a cut out underneath the bumper on the fake diffuser. It can't be seen from behind, so no need to worry.

Fact of life. Diesel vehicles only heat up when working. Get a diesel up to running temperature and then stop it with the heater on and watch the temperature gauge drop. Before retirement, I worked for a rail company. We'd often end up at night on a standby role. (i.e. we'd turn up, wait while work was performed in case some signalling kit was damaged). During the waiting time, we found a corner, got the van heated up and slept, but we knew not to turn the heater up too far as the engine would cool down. In my car, the heater is excellent, but only after a trip of more than a few miles. But a thought for Pentium. Do you leave the dog/dogs in the car for a while? I've got a small dog(JRT/cairn X), We often leave her in car whilst at supermarket to come out and find the inside steamed up especially if the grass is damp.

Yeah I understand. The ol' fellas beamer has a speed limiter. Set to say 30mph and keep your foot on the accelerator and it stays at 30. But then mash the pedal to the floor and it will speed up. Our CC is a set it and release the pedal affair. I don't mind it, but when you're on the motorway, I find my right ankle aching after a while because my foot is hovering over the accelerator pedal.

Yes. A lot of us who got early model cars were basically beta testers. I believe VW group released a lot of cars early to meet some sort of emissions target. They weren't ready but they released them anyway and we all had to do their testing. Might not have been so bad if the support had been better but it was lacking.

Yes, have got rid of mine. Wasn't tested properly before sale. Great potential but shouldn't be for the customer to test it for them. Really damaged my faith in the brand. Having said that, I went back to a MK3.5 and I can't speak highly enough about it. Probably Japanese though next as I want it to work properly!

The manual is a bit wrong btw, you don't actually have to fully floor the accelerator, it's possible to use less RPM for the launch if you know the conditions can't handle the maximum. Can get a better time this way and less drama.
