Mot today and a clean bill of heath.

So after 10 months it looks like I will get the car on the 7th of February. The car arrived to the dealer on 26th of January. Ordered first week of march 2021. 1.9 diesel dsg ambition sedan + canton, led matrix.

Borrowing my Granny's (once mine) Technics RS-TR474M2 for recording an album. Forgot how good it could make a tape sound with the ATC auto-calibration. Recording Deacon Blue to a 2nd hand BASF LH-EI via Spotify. Featuring Archie as a photobomb.

Lots of people are getting 50 kW battery cars like i have. Like Peugeot e-208 & others from Stellantis Group. So the salespeople do not explain that the usable battery is 45 kW. If you go on a 50 kW charger and you have some power in it and are going to charge to near full and sit an hour then you get 33 kWh of charge. You will not get 40 kW of charge in in 60 minutes on a 50 kW charger no matter the weather / temperature or the battery temp. The car starts showing that it is charging at 212 mph, then 186, the 112, then 88 and the 39 mph and then maybe 8 mph. If you go on a 7kw AC charger it shows as the charging speed is 21-26 mph. In an hour you get 6.6 kW of a charge. That means if you are going to be getting 21 miles added range the car is getting 3.1 miles per kWh and to get 26 miles it will be the car going 3.9 mile per kWh. ......................... Not really impressed by this guy or some of his information or opinions. The eUp!Mii Electric CitigoiV is a great small / city EV though and it is pathetic that the VW Group has not got a replacement small EV ready to go into production. Or at least kept making new Citigo iV's available in the UK. Peugeot e-208 range probably in the low 200's is if you are going downhill a lot of the time in one. Talking WLTP / Manufacturers figures is just stupid now. They actually just need to spend 4 hours and drive 200 miles or 6 hours and drive 300 miles in 'True 300 mile Family EV's'. PUT THE FAMILY IN AND NOT A SINGLE PARENT FAMILY WITH 1 TODDLER.

1. Fix the servo pipe. 2. Move coilpacks between cylinders 1 and 3 (swap positions). 3. Drive for long enough to see either a) problems all gone and no codes come back, or b) misfires logged but now on cyl 1 - replace that one coilpack which was on cyl 3, now on 1, or c) misfires return on cyl 3. Time to compression test.

Hi guys, It has been a while since I've posted on here since I haven't had a Skoda for years. Last week I bought a yellow mk1 VRS hatchback as a project, I'll post regular updates as I go over all the little jobs that need attention.

You haven't really thought this through have you. Generally speaking when I undertake a project I have a good idea of what to expect, it seems to me that you have absolutely no idea other than that you want heated seats, which frankly isn't enough.

Fixed it!! 😀 Finally got round to taking it apart and noticed that the ribbon cable to the laser head seemed to be kinked and felt cracked. So I took it off, straightened it out and used a bit of sellotape to strengthen it and hold it together. Reassembled it all and it now works perfectly. New ribbon cable on order though just in case.

Finally some daylight The white Audi is the car I drove while I waited for my RS (for some reason it is just RS here). Kodiaq is so much better than that Audi (and we all know Audi isn't a bad car. That one had similar engine too - 169kw 2.0TSI. For winter, I put on 19'' wheels.

He may have run the engine between clearing codes and swapping coils so just being a little pedantic in case new pending codes popped up in that period. Cylinder 1 is furthest from the gearbox/battery and closest to oil filter/alternator end. Left side looking from the front ro the rear of car. The aircon code 65535 (-1 or 0xffff) is ”unspecified" error. Whenever I've seen this is usually due to low gas, and the aircon therefore not working. Radio code might be the connector not fully home, has the radio ever been out or is it not the original radio?

I have contacted Skoda online chat and they have confirmed that the oil should be changed at 40,000. He will be in touch with the dealer on Monday and will let me know the outcome I expect the dealer will also call me.🙄,

I live near cargo train station in Ljubljana / Slovenia. Today there is a looooooong train ful of Skodas parked. As much as I can see, mostly Octavia (all of them are hatchback) and Kodiaq, but also few Scalas. 🙂 btw, there is only a small part of train on the photo. It's two level and at least few hundred meters long.

So I came back home with the superb tonight No issues at all in parking the car, I could easily get at 5cm from the wall.. I'll just buy a neoprene to be sure. Thanks all for the answers and the pictures!

Brings back fond memories of family rides, my son similar at a similar age to yours, and we were mostly on tarmac bike tracks. When he needed a bit of assistance on the steeper bits or we needed to go a bit faster/further than his normal speed then it started when I'd find a suitable length tree fall (stick) and push his bike from behind. I formalised it a bit with a lightweight, extendable tent pole. Not quite as awkward as it sounds and he loved being out in front and going twice as fast as he would under his own power. Not really practical when off a good surface but I never liked the idea or consequences of him overrunning a tow rope. Didn't seem long before he was pretty capable of managing on his own. They really grow up quick

Thanks Gav, yes I've seen some of those posts already. Though maybe I haven't got the hang of the search function? As it never seems very easy to find hings I'm looking for? I can't believe only having one broken wire in the drivers door loom that I've lost all the functions on the N/S doors? So maybe there are more damaged wires? As DEL8OY has previously mentioned he's found broken wires where the insulation is still intact IIRC. I've now noticed that the insulation is quite brittle on most of the front door loom wires and found a crack in the insulation on one wire in the loom to the front N/S passenger door. The rear door wires are probably not far behind though guess that they are likely to last longer as I rarely have passengers so the wires aren't being made to flex as often. You are correct, they don't know anything and that is sad. One guy that works in a BMW dealership said his work became very sressful, because he needs to keep lying to the customers about delivery time, when they call.

But... It is still a "ball ache" for the average owner to do and would be much better for the owner if it was presented as part of the digital certificate (IMHO).

MOT information is easily available online via the DVLA to show the dates and mileage recorded, and if you register for free at Skoda Erwin https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do as a business user type, you can then easily check the digital service record records for any given VIN

If it only has 38k miles on a 6 year old car, might be better allocating say £2000 for servicing and repairs (and using the money pot to fix whatever it needs over next 2-3 years), rather than spending thousands more trying to change it during current market turmoil with lack of good secondhand cars.

Fitting bigger outside diameter tyres means that you travel further than the odometer indicates, assuming the odometer is correct to begin with. This is because a bigger outside diameter tyre travels further with each revolution of the wheel.

@ Pete - i am on the same page, i think this is the only one thing that left, also i found its aftermarket part...one of the reasons maybe there is completely no communication with that module... @ J.R - Radio is disconnected also ... Strange thing about the radio - its on its own fuse, and it works correctly. BUT when car is completely off, radio still can work. That looks like a factory decision as if i remove the fuse - radio is dead right away. My car is on K-line only - no CAN. here...

When you say you expected a DSG oil change I presume it's 4 year old and you were looking at the above chart ( 4yr or 40,000 miles, whichever comes first ) ? And you say it's covered 30,000 miles - is that correct? He then asked if it was a 6 or 7 speed box, told him 7 he then told me it doesn't need doing on this box. I can read that response in two ways: 1: They think it's a DQ200 which doesn't require an oil change ( or worse still, think every 7 speed doesn't require an oil change ) or 2: They know the Skoda service document ( printed above ) is wrong and there is no time limit on the 40,000. In other words they were correctly teling you a DSG service is not necessary. I'd be more worried about the 1st question - Is it a 6 or 7 speed. They have your registration details in front of you so the system should be telling them what gearbox is fitted to your car. Sounds like they haven't bothered to check. Someone's going to be in for a b0ll0cking on Monday morning!

I would definitely use an extension loom or similar to avoid cutting the original wires. Some amplifiers need a remote line to turn on. Others will turn on automatically when audio is detected on the input, this is auto-sense but may have other marketing names.

Thanks for the prompt reply mate, much appreciated. I'll have to investigate further when I get back on dry land then if that's how they are when they are working...... I assume they have a motor for them, i'll see if there's a fuse for that that may have blown.

That picture I posted is from my son-in-laws car, just rebuilt the regulator from a kit I already had in stock in one of the sheds, waiting for the rivets to turn up in the morning before I reassemble it.

Both my fronts have gone and been done. A plastic runner broke both times. Replaced the carrier seal with "caravan/minivan" mastic. One other broken part still in one door. There's two spring compression "hats" allowing a bit of "give" in the cables where they enter the drum/spool. One of mine has failed. I guess that means the shock of the window hitting the stops is less cushioned than usual. It's been that way for many years now though. ... So I'd buy a complete mech kit or a replacement carrier if doing it again, just to ensure I had all of the bits. Bored of drilling out rivets and replacing door card clips too.

The owner of the SEAT Leon 1.4TSI with this leaking fuel issue found that in USA and Canada there is a safety recall for this, okay we do not live in USA or Canada, but this is not been dealt with over there as a normal recall but a safety recall, so maybe that makes a difference and VW Group in Europe should be recalling all affected cars for checking FOC as well as paying for all cars that have suffered failed bolts. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2020/RCRIT-20V648-7026.pdf Edit:- note that the bolt tightening procedure is now 8Nm + 90 degrees, I've not seen the "+90 degrees" included for these bolts before now.

Depends on the market. In Lithuania style does get full rear lights.

To be fair the failure mode is usually the plastic runners breaking and releasing the cable nipples because four of the six terminate at the runners with the other two ending in the cable spool itself, once a nipple comes out of the runner a failure is certain.

roottoot I do know you know your stuff about DSG boxes so I will get in touch with the dealer. The person who told me is a service advisor who has worked there for a long time? I did question him about it as I wanted the service doing this year a bit earlier than required at 30,000 as next year it will need the cam belt / water pump and wanted to spread the cost. Thanks for your advice.

There was no hint of a sunset when I arrived (@ Rufford Park) and in the space of a few moments it looked like the sky was on fire!

I am never going to own a Mk 1 or 2 Escort RS or a Focus RS / ST in the colours i like and have wanted to own. I would happily have one of these and make it a keeper to see my driving days out. (No cloak of invisibility.)

You certainly can and many do because their old pump failed with a stuck shroud. I like the quick warm up but if mine fails with a stuck shroud I will remove the achilles heel.

I don't know man, but I can tell you what i will do next month if there will be no info till then. So after 6 months waiting, I will demand answers. Dealer don't have them? Ok, fine, demand answers from importer and so on. This is the least we can do, to demand some explanation. I would understand if everyone was waiting similar amount of time, but not this. There must be some fu**ing explanation. Don't know is not good enough anymore after so much time.

I have always used CASTROL EDGE 5W30 LL with a new filter ( Mahle ) at 10.000 with out fail !!! cars done 300,000 plus with no probs at all to date. Changing at 10000 seems to keep the oil use age down to 0.5L MAX which is good for the DPF. Always remember cheap or dirty or incorrect oil will clog up turbos egr and your DPF IN NO TIME AT ALL...as it will over heat and burn/vaporise.

Always start with full service for the whole car no just the relatively unimportant engine. What is usually missed from a service of the engine, which many owners and garages take to mean just an engine oil & filter change, is also often cleaning, air filter replacement, throttle body, MAF as appropriate. Giving the car a good blowout run 30+ miles on motorway or similar can often help as well as a couple of tankfuls of better fuel like V-power. Also very important to running is that the car battery is not allowed to go too low in charge, you may still be able to start the car and the lights seem bright enough but the battery could still be too low for the over-complicated and invasive computer programs, particular battery monitor and start/stop programs, that the computers will throw up all sorts of problems. Check the battery condition and state of charge. Do not take raw error codes as an answer as usually they are only pointing to where the proper diagnostics should start. If you do not have access to a decent scan tool here is a quick, easy and free way to reset the computers and systems. Good luck. -

You do know the fog lights are built into the headlamps on these? A bit high up but they should be there. As for the rear you can make both sides light up with a wire from one side to the other.

And now the headlight slotted in a treat, and lines up as it should do. I can actually see the adjusters now. I can also now easily remove the headlight with the front plastic bumper fitted.
