  1. I disagree entirely. The interiors are simple and straightforward - but they are anything but bland (and I'm quite happy with physical buttons, tyvm). Of course, there is a lot of variation across models as well as variants, but I'm more than happy with the look of the interior, and it's a a lot less bland than a lot of cars out there. As for the driving, my 1.5 150PS Kodiaq wasn't overly exciting... but it wasn't as bad as some cars I've driven. My 2.0 245PS Kodiaq is whatever I want it to be - boring and practical or fun and exciting. I'll admit that it's nowhere near my old 1 series for being a driving machine, but comparing an SUV with a small hatchback is, well, pointless - and having tested SUVs from Volvo, BMW and Audi, I'd save the money and take my Kodiaq any day of the week.
  2. @automass here's the thing. In your posts in the previous thread you were getting error codes across a few cylinders and after you had the plugs and coils changed there was a brief respite for a couple of days you now get the error code on only cylinder three. I guess that can be considered as some sort of progress. It seems that now you are reporting only one misfire being detected (out of all the multiple thousands of revs), and the only reason that you are aware of it is because the stop/start function stops as a precautionary measure. To be quite honest stop/start is not terribly important in the grand scheme of things. Consider also that when your 1.4tsi is idling it is only using 0.5L/hour so depending on your journey type, you may not be saving much fuel with it at all, and anecdotally the battery life can be reduced by the stop/start function so what you potentially save in fuel may have to be offset by the cost of a prematurely failed AGM battery. I would really recommend against putting multiple bottles of Redex, or anything else in your fuel. Additives are not recommended by VW, and while mathematically two negatives make a positive, it rarely works mechanically What you could do is to put some higher octane fuel in for at least a couple of tanks and hope the additional cleaners and detergents in it do something. I personally do not think it will but it is harmless and relatively cheap. You could also turn off stop/start for a few days and see if the error code goes away. It probably won't but if does it may provide additional clues to the problem. Also re-read @xman's suggestions regarding pressing the foot pedal a couple of times to test for an air leak. Judging from your response you either totally misread his instructions or you actually discovered the cause of your problems. I do think you are over-reacting somewhat, If you didn't have a reader you probably would not even be aware of the problem since the car seems to be running perfectly well. However, If you still want a solution then (as suggested by many others) it will require a competent professional mechanic to identify and fix. Oh, and I can assure you that these sorts of things do happen with other brands.
  3. No worries, it quite interesting, and you are trying to help me and i'm very glad, On friday im getting back to the car i will probably change the oil and filters and i will update you on the car. Cheers
  4. Hey All, Picked up my very first Škoda Superb today and a very proud new owner. I got the 2018 206tsi 4x4 (Australian Spec) in business grey with all the bells and whistles. Still really low KMs 40,000 (25,000mi) and runs amazingly. Just had a full service from the dealer and in tip top mechanical condition with full service history. Looking forward to getting to know it better and get a real feel for it. Looking at putting on 4 new tyres and posted on this subject here a few days ago - everyone on here are so helpful and knowledgeable. Such a great forum, really enjoy browsing and reading up. Cheers all, happy driving!

Good news second attempt today at hook a duck got the bonnet open lesson learnt. Thanks all 😀
  6. Snake oil doesn't fix problem?! Madness Maybe it didn't work because it doesn't do anything or perhaps the fuel system was already clean enough that there was no marked improvement...? Anyway, I think it's pretty unlikely that your issues is caused by dirt or deposits on injector 3 and that redex will remove that specific contaminant by using above the recommended dose. I assume you've seen the number of possible reasons for these fault codes: - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16684/P0300/000768 - https://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16687/P0303/000771 I don't understand why you want to keep guessing at the fault and spending money on random fixes hoping that'll sort it. You need to get the problem diagnosed properly and then you can fix it...
  7. Might as well completely derail the thread with a pic of one of my Estelles, a W-reg (1982) 120LSE. I had it up on ramps because it was feeling poorly 😛 ++
  8. I'm guessing you're referring to stop/start. As rum4mo suggests, the most likely cause is battery charge. It may indicate an ageing battery, but most likely it's the combination of short journeys, cold weather and VAG's EU enforced ghastly charging system that limits battery charge to around 80% capacity and only charges on overrun. I got so fed up with it (and occasional dashboard warnings) , I simply disconnected the BCM (battery control module) sensor connector from the negative battery terminal so that the alternator acts as it should rather than to the EU's stupid dictate.
  9. Going through the threads on this forum it seems that no one does any research before they spend tens of thousands of (insert currency here) of their money. Complaining and wanting to change so much stuff, suspension, in car ICE, charging points, how the safety stuff is set up, fitting options after receiving the car, removing options after receiving the car. Blimey it’s crazy!! I spent a while going through the options of all the cars I was considering and did appropriate test drives to decide what I wanted. And now I have a car which I am happy with. Do some people just throw some dice to decide what to order? Or were you forced at gunpoint to get an Octavia? I know I’ll get flamed for this as some people wont notice a (hopefully well intended) joke or are the perpetually offended. 😂😂😂
  10. I couldn't afford one of these new but went to a mate's test drive for one when they were first released, he could afford one, £12k new IIRC. It was at Corby Co-Op Motors (Northamptonshire) and the salesman said to my mate he probably knew more about the car (100% he would) so jus threw him the keys, no paperwork, as quick and simple as turning up for the appointment, can you imagine that now! As it was just us I drove first, with my mate telling me to slow down through the country roads even though we weren't going at great speed and then when he took over and drives a lot quicker than me I realised what he meant as a passenger. It was the year we had a lot of rain and in the farm fields with hilly slopes the dug up topsoil mud had slid down, I'd never seen that before. A number of years later I went to look at this car for someone I worked with and very surprisingly the very small local dealer had two of them in the very small showroom. When I went back home to suggest my wife sees them she said she didn't really want to as she'd want to buy one - so we did. At the time it was the modern day equivalent to a MG Midget, if they'd made one then but they didn't, but of course this was much better.
  11. Especially Fords of that era. I've never been in an Escort actually. My Granda had sold his Mk5 (so the one before yours) by the time I came about. He bought a 1997 Mk1 Punto instead, that, like the Ford, rust also claimed... in 2011 though!
  12. Boy were you rollin' in it £70 for a first car, back then! You're just showing off. 😊 And another rear-engined buddle of fun. I should recognised that road the Talbot Sunbeam 1.3 LS is on, think it might be Welsh. I was just about to widen the scope of the thread with a non-Skoda model but you beat me to it.
  13. Sticking with rear-engined Skodas, two of my past three, period photos. 1986 Rapid 130 1985 120LS (4-speed)

Excellent, a man after my own heart he who dares wins!!! I bought my MK1 Octavia at 3 years old, used as a chauffeurs car, looked like new but with 188000 miles. I did the cam belt at 250000 (it had never been changed before despite my pal paying for it twice) as I could see the cords becoming exposed at the edges, I then took it up to 325000 miles. A PD cam belt transmits a lot more load.
  15. Drive the car anywhere near a river estuary when it is windy, get salty spray. Drive it when there is salt on the roads, get salty water splashed on discs. You will find it rusts quickly (even overnight) Don’t worry about it unless disk has big grooves or is warped, a couple of heavy brake applications normally cleans them up.
  16. yep me too 9 months just passed, could have extended the family and added further need for a 7 seater
  17. My VRS order has now moved to status 20, and build week 6. My fingers are both very crossed!!!!!
  18. But your start/stop button is on the wrong side (like the steering wheel 🤣), the buttons on that side of my car have longer cables too.
  19. I lost a post a post so out of order (and topic again). One of mine had the aerial in the sunroof, another I think had a black metal aerial but I'm not sure now and one, the Rapid 130 coupe I guess, had the the aerial in the rear window which was OK until you turned the rear window heater element on. As I remember it the Rapid 130 coupe had a complex almost infinite range of settings for the interment wiper, I thought there was like three rotary knobs involved but when I looked at the cars on the stand at the NEC Classic Motor Show last November none had anything like that. And I was wrong about the rad grille, all three of mine had the same grille but on one I had added the fog lights that were part of the grille pieces, on another spot lights hanging below the front bumper. Photo below is from the end of November 1985, Raglan Castle (I think), Wales, I'm sure of the date as it was our honeymoon, though neither of us can remember if it was a three or four day honeymoon but it was abroad and in a new car, the vulgar extravagancy of it all.

Pretty much sums up my position. There isn't anything else for a similar price (still sub £40k list price) that really does it for me. There are a handful of Superb 280 4x4, almost new or pre-registered out there available, but I'd be paying £500 a year VEL for 5 years instead of £155 - and I'm loathed to throw any more money at the government than I have to.
  21. I'm on Eibach pro kit as well. But I have Audi TT rear top bushings instead of the OE bushings.

that's the problem, i found nothing else exiting in this range price, especially in 200 cv diesel !

The wiring in the rubber door bellows is damaged and must be repaired.
  24. Thanks a lot for the help, I got it done yesterday. Seems to be working great. It did hurt my fingers, a lot of force was required, I was a bat scared to damage something but in the end I managed without breaking or scratching anything.
  25. Mine had the very last grille design. This one.... ^ EDIT: But it broke because the plastic was like something out of a chocolate box, so I replaced it with a normal Estelle 2 grille. And yes, the aerial was in the sunroof!

@roottootI had forgotten about this topic. The car runs well as you'd expect. Oil use is not noticeable, I.e. I haven't added a drop in 12000 miles although I do check it occasionally. It's had 2 oil services and is on 18000 miles. I just checked the service paperwork and it's the usual bland uninformative 'serviced according to manufacturer's specification' No detail on amount or type of viscosity. These services/inspection services are nothing more than expensive oil and filter changes. I can see for myself if discs are lipped, grooved, tyres are worn, brake fluid and coolant is low or it's dropping oil.
  27. The messages I routinely are: 'Emergency Brake' in red even when nobody is near, and every day both 'Drive in the middle of your lane' and 'Take control' or something about keep your hands on the steering wheel, which is a joke ass my car is fitted with Travel Assist but it doesn't work so I have no idea who the car thinks is steering!! Its almost a joke now to see what random/irrelevant message pops up on each journey. The emergency brake warning, at night, with nobody around is a bit concerning but sadly as it happens so often I doubt if it happened for real I would react, so its totally failing as a 'safety feature' because of its 'crying wolf' all the time.
  28. I think that in general, we, or I have been very kind to the 640A CCA EFB battery in my wife's August 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI, especially during lock down periods, by connecting a smart charger to it. I've also treated it to a "reconditioning" charging profile once a year for the past 3 years, that has dragged back up the CCA value that I get when I test it, currently it is returning a value of 475A CCA and "replace battery" - but it will enable auto Stop/Start quite early on in a journey if I let it. I'm hoping that this year's Spring "recondition" charging period will bring that value back up a bit - although I have already bought a new AGM battery.
  29. My friend drives nothing but audi and bmw and gets all kinds of cars from his work and yess there are some nice touches and cloth here and there an "better material" but it is not like you are hugging all parts of the interiour and pay Loads of dollars more for it. And nowadays those design interiours from audi and those ugly air funnels in front i find very ugly. If i would buy another brand car it would be bmw and certainly not an audi or mercedes. The only fact i dont get a bmw is because all of the hassles it has with maintenance, much more of a hassle than a vag car. ps: Bmw does have some nice superiour automatics (in my opinion)
  30. Does it really matter if you’re only in the car for 15mins as you have said? It’s barely 4 songs, or maybe one if it’s Pink Floyd. 😂😂
  31. This is the issue the VW Group have. Ideally they would like the perceived branding hierarchy to be Audi->VW>Seat>Skoda However, the reality is very different. The last 3 brands cost virtually the same, depending on what deal you can get. Quality is subjective, but imo Skoda is generally the best out of the last 3, the same for practicality. Audi does indeed have better materials, but whether they are worth the massive like for like premium is up to the individual.
  32. @Pete_Ex-Wino, does the name change reflect your adoption of a more healthy lifestyle?
  33. haha, let me know and i'll join you. I keep thinking how long is too long to wait..................but i know i cant jump ship, i wonder if its worth asking if my delaer has had any cancellation slots i could take over instead which are further than mine

Not true, they can mix smaller quantities, what usually limits them is the viability of doing so. I had a tiny touch up bottle mixed to code by an E-bay seller for next to nothing.
  35. Welcome to the forum. Really there are no issues to worry about with a DQ250 DSG. Just be sure to have the box serviced every 40,000 miles or sooner.
  36. For me it certainly wouldn't be anything new from the likes of the usual sports car makers... I reckon I'd go old-school with a garage of cars - so maybe something like an older G-wagon / Jimny for winter, maybe an AMG E-Class estate for the family and then something small and light for hooning- so it's got to be a Caterham?? I do fancy a massive old American V8 barge though as well, or maybe a TVR with a V8 (despite the lack or reliability - it's the sound I like!)
  37. Meanwhile, back at the point, Skoda Yeti vRS 4x4.
  38. Is that a do or did? I thought that was a mobility car that you then changed for an Alhambra (nice car) and now a Corsa ev?
  39. @lol-lol I am happy that there are coaches that nip along quite quickly and some HGV's from Ireland that are good for me drafting behind at a safe distance and at around the National Speed limit for a car. That eeks out the range of an EV otherwise i would have to go about 10 MPH slower or be stopping to charge the car earlier.
  40. Apologies to Fominas for the thread derail.
  41. And there, I think, is your answer.... it's the tyres (in conjuction with the suspension setup) You chose Michelin E primacy tyres are designed for heavy EVs. They are ECO tyres, ultra low rolling resistance and very hard wearing. And thats the problem, ECO and EV specific tyres have a hard compound and stiff construction in order to acheive ECO status, the trade off being grip and their stiffness transmits through the wheel and suspension, and on basic setups like your car straight into the steering and bodywork. Lack of weight, any suspension isolation and insufficient sound deadening makes things sound worse especially when engines are so quiet nowadays. I find you tend to tune into these noises and because its a drone type noise start to worry, I suffer exactly the same issue with my Superb and its OE P7 tyres. Very noisy. However occasionally I'll drive over a smooth continental type tarmac and the silence is so refreshing. Proving the tyres are the issue. Don't confuse EU Noise ratings with what to expect in the cabin. Those noise ratings are external drive by ratings and have no relation with the noise transmitted through the suspension into the car. On the plus side I've done 22,000 miles and the fronts are on exactly 5mm and rears on 6mm having started life at 7mm, again showing how hard the compound must be.

Honestly the way Škoda is handling this situation is properly insulting quite a lot of their customers. Many of them will probably delete Škoda from their shopping lists and never order anything from them again! As @Ralliskarasaid, we understad the reasons that can cause delays, but there is 0 logic in not putting priorities to people that are waitting 9 months - 1 year+.
  43. If money were no object I would create and employ a private security force to abduct and re-educate those who use "was" instead of "were" in the "if" clause/conditional use of the verb "To Be". They would also be tasked with euthanising anyone who writes "breaks" for "brakes" on car forums 😆

Ordered 8th of October , took delivery last friday, petrol vRS with almost all options, Bulgaria. Even the dealer couldn’t believe it got here this fast…
  45. And the trilogy of purchases is complete! Creation Motorsports oversized tip to work with the ko3s and standard 70mm MAF aswell as my SAI blanking kit First impressions are good, definitely meets the criteria of oversized being 70mm all the way down to the turbo inlet. Feels smooth down the main hose all the way down to the turbo inlet (well, as far as my hand could reach) and is alot stiffer than i expected. Decent!

The RS I think only comes in one diesel, 2.0 200bhp. I ordered from the guys in Pilsen.
  47. Bring back Chains, no reason to have cam belts other than keeping the service sector happy.
  48. Rather than starting a new topic I thought I'd piggyback on this one - hope that's ok! Has anyone had experience using these Octava IV tunnel mats in an Octavia III? There are some floppy rubber ones available for the Mk III which seem to have the same part number, but they don't fit as well and don't look as nice. These ones seem to be a sturdier, firmer shape similar to those available for the Superb, Fabia, Karoq etc. and I'm hoping they'd fit the Mk III. Any guinea pigs in markets that have the Mk IV on sale already who have tried?
