Just in case I haven't got enough pictures of my Sportline iV - I took some more today after fitting the summer Supernova wheels.

Dear All, Since i got some comfort through this thread during waiting time i would like to inform you that i have finally received my new car. So the car specs are - Octavia 1.5mhev, DSG, Panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, rough road package. (Location Athens Greece) Car Ordered 31/7/21 and received 3/3/22 so overall 7 Months from order to delivery. The car price picked up from oder to delivery almost 1900 euros but after negotiations i paid almost 1000 euros more. (Not happy with that) Now about the car. Although my experience with the car is only 750km i can share some first impressions to make you feel better during your wait period. - Smells fantastic - I love the smell of a new car and i hope to last a little longer. - Drives super smooth - Very low road noise in the interior (at least to my standards) - You dont feel the start stop of the engine - It happens instantly. - No weird noises and robust construction feeling. - No Cangaroo effect at low temperatures or when car is cold (i am mentioning that because of several threads that i have read about the 1.5 tsi) - DSG work fantastic. I will never go back to manual gearbox after knowing the feeling i am enjoying now. - The infotainement system works extremely well, very responsive, wireless CarPlay works fantastic, no freezes or any other glitches up to now. - The side assist work very well for me. Its not interfering where it shouldnt, ang gives me a feel of extra safety. I have never swithed it off and in Greece we are not famous for our road quality. (i am mentioning that because of several trhreads for not working properly that i have read) - Although the car is just out of the box consumption is lower than i have expected. Average consumption for all its life is 6.2lt/100 km (including heavy traffic situations). In open road consumption varies from 4.2lt to 5.2lt. I managed to achieve 680km before refueling and during refueling the reservoir was not yet empty. Fow sure i could make 100km more. Overall i am super happy with my choice up to now, but of course now its too soon for objectivity and only time will tell if everything will be OK. Sounds like a mechatronics issue. Something as simple as a temperature sensor could cause this issue (that was/is a common issue on one of the other DSG gearboxes), but the probability is that it will need a new mechatronics unit regardless of what the exact fault is. As above, push hard for this to be done under the approved-used warranty. Even if the warranty had expired, I would be pushing for Skoda to at least contribute to the costs, as the car is less than five years old, and it sounds like it has a pretty good service history, and obviously had been checked over to some extent as part of the approved used process. Living in the Southeast corner of the UK means very mild winters so as far as I'm concerned it's only the corrosion inhibitors I really need and since my coolant is still pink that'll do me, it really is possible to get too precious about this sort of thing, life is short and painful enough without fannying about with stuff that doesn't really need doing.

It certainly does. ...and you don't need to change your coolant unless it's become dilute through topping up with plain water.

I believe all 1.5 Tsi Kodiaq’s have the DQ381 0GC 7 speed wet clutch DSG fitted, not the dreaded DQ200.

My Octavia was scrapped after 17 years and 350000 miles still with the original coolant, every year it had a freezing point check and it had never changed neither had the colour, it was doing a good job of protecting the various metals so why would I change it? I changed the brake fluid after 15 years, it was moisture checked every year and was still fine, new fluid made no difference to the pedal feel, what was bled out was not stained so I knew that the seals had not degraded nor was there any corrosion.

Call them and ask for advice, given the complexity of these gearboxes,I would consider gear selection issues, as you describe, a breakdown.

Ask the information from the dealership. Or Skoda or tomorrow from the selling dealership. Get the full service and service campaign and warranty history. Maybe put the reg number up here and a member will know if it is a car they rejected or punted early. The threads are in this and other sections from 2018.

I was finally able to collect my car on Wednesday. Props to Marshall Skoda Northampton as they managed to prep it very quickly once they received it. I ordered the car on 30 July and was originally given a build week in October and target delivery in December. The build week quickly slipped to November before reverting to 'order accepted by the factory' with no build week. Just before Christmas I was allocated build week 08 and that proved to be final. I can't fault the dealership - they performed a service and MOT on my Octavia FOC due to the extended wait. Just before handover they re-valued the Octavia to release a big chunk of extra equity for me too. For all of you waiting for cars, I hope you have some good news soon.

Yes, it was bought from an official Skoda Dealership back in September. I didn't realise that there is an approved used warranty that covers this? I might make an enquiry to see if I can get this booked in.

I read in the OP an approved used car bought in September. That is not out of warranty then. If Skoda Approved used then the Warranty was made valid by them even if the car had not been serviced to manufacturer's recommendations before a Dealership sold it.

That's decent enough - what engines in it? But of a comparison from the cheap seats: I did Dundee and back for a weekend in my base spec MK2 TDI. On the way up I stopped for a leak just south of the border. According to the MFA: 246 miles 64.8 mpg 4 hours 30 min 55mph AVG Not luxurious, but totally comfortable apart from my iffy shoulder starting to complain a bit on the Edinburgh bypass. Only real downside is, it ain't fast. But I was going up the A1 in the afternoon, so limited opportunity for that anyway. Oh, and I used a litre of coolant 🤣

I finally took delivery if my SE Drive on Wednesday. Went out for a proper drive today and am very pleased. It feels like a nice upgrade from our Mk.III Octavia. The family love it too, which is good!

The problem with these sorts of threads is that the people giving the info seem to assume a certain level of knowledge of coding and using OBD11. I would like to buy a unit and do my own coding but there doesn’t seem to be any step by step guide to help the novice. I’m pretty good with technology but I’m still nervous of buying a OBD11 unit and not being confident in using it. Not even the OBD11 website is easy to follow! I think part of the issue is that a list of posters are not natural English speakers so the translation can sometimes complicate things!

More progress in the beam, soaked it in rust remover gel for a few days, reapplying every once in a while. That left me with this: I pressure washed the gel off, and scuffed it down with steel wool, wire brushes and a sanding pad on my polisher. Once it was at this stage I gave it a heavy coat of kurust and left it. Grand total of 175 miles today and absolutely no issues with the Fabia. So that might wrap up whatever is going on. Will still check for pre-existing fault codes, however.

They can re value car prices offers if they drop drastically and it will be passed onto you. In about 12 months used car prices will be lower given that chips will be back in circulation and new cars flying out of the factory again. Unless things change drastically with our current price of living, people will stop changing cars as they will not be able to afford the higher payments (energy/fuel/grocery etc) That will pull down prices as dealers will have to in order to sell cars and make them affordable. I looked at changing mine but now I wouldnt given my mk3 VRS only costs me £161 for the payment and under £200 including tax and insurance. I would confirm with the dealer what would happen if the value of cars drop and get it in writing to cover yourself. Good luck with everything though and I hope it works out in your favour 👍

Weekly wash today, summer Supernovas fitted (winters on Vegas) and suspension given a quick spruce up whilst I was there....

Last month i asked the dealer what is with the price of the car and the financing and he told me that everything stays unchanged. The deal we signed is still the same, and nothing can change. So i doubt they can change price as they whish?!?

There's a small gap where I was able to shake them out from the red corner into the clear section of the unit and hopefully out. Afterwards I used a vacuum over the open vents on the back of the unit and then covered them up with foam. I'm not sure how you'd be able to remove the cobweb since it's a "sealed" unit. You might be able to get away with using something like an air duster with a straw to dislodge the cobwebs.

Indeed, as I found from experience when I bought a 3.5 year old car which later turned out not to have had Haldex or brake fluid services done. It should be a moot point in this particular case though, because of the warranty. And at only 22k miles, the first scheduled DSG service is still a long way off, so a missed DSG service can't be used as an excuse.

Sorry guys i have never changed coolant or done a coolant flush or a freezing point check although colour seems always bright and strong (12 years and 50000miles) just topped off when needed and never had a problem am i just lucky or what ? Brake fluid was 1 changed 10 years ago but i always do a moisture check just to be on a safe side. checked the service book no mention of flushing out every 5 years !!! Might try and do the flush myself this summer Ive started change oil and oil filters(from above with a pump last few years ) , spark plugs etc myself and she still running great and ive had her from day 1 -cheapest maintenace car ive ever had !!!!!

As to your other questions regarding service campaing software updates, I am not sure how to get this information. However I have the email from the regional manager who corrected the electronic service history so I would get in touch to ask. Hmm, that dealership is 200 odd miles away. I don't really think it's safe for me to drive that far. Does it have to be the supplying dealer?

Back to dealer who sold it to you is first choice.

Use the Skoda Approved Warranty and get any fault diagnosed. At a Skoda Approved repairer, so a Skoda main dealership. There is no servicing of a DQ200 DSG if the car is front wheel drive with this DSG. ? Did the car get the Service campaign software updates on the 1.5 TSI at any point! Was the DSG given a software update at any time? Was the car rejected by the first keeper as Sims where because of Engine and DSG issues?

In terms of bespoke harness what have they modified ? I’d be very interested to know how a harness can be bespoke on a high volume production car.

I also seem to recall a setting in the infotainment system regarding USB, but I can't remember what it is or where it is. 🤔

The aerial adapter would def improve the reception for the radio....nothing to do with powering off. the powering off issue is the wiring is slightly different between the radios. Its most likely the +12v ignition / permanent lives are different. Need to know exactly what year the vehicle is to potentially look at the pin outs on the radio and see where the difference is.

Wanderer, I think you might have sorted me mate! I activated and went into Developer mode and there is an option to select USB configuration and in that it was set to CHARGE ONLY. There is media transfer protocol there so I'll try that tomorow. Hopefully that does the trick. Marky thanks for your input too mate. The options are there but just greyed out. Legends, I'll let ye know tomorrow if it works!

I would be cautious putting the seat covers through the washing machine, I did that and it totally ruined mine, the thin layer of foam that is embedded in the seat cover disintegrated and the seat covers came out of the machine nice and clean but all lumpy were some of the foam had been washed away and some had survived. They were so bad I ended up scrapping them and buying some Mk2 VRS seats as I could not live with how they looked!

It was a workshop not me 😅 To be honest fully loaded Superb L&K is just a great car missing one thing - better sound insulation. That's why I had it planned, it was done about a month after picking the car up from the dealer.

Would be interesting to know why Skoda don’t want you to use postcodes like every other sat nav and would be good if they could put that in the instructions so that you know. Pretty poor show really and not what you expect from a company like VAG.

SmartLink doesn't appear in the menu on older units. If SmartLink is shown then that means it is present. When it says "contact a dealer to activate SmartLink", that means a dealer can activate it. Summary: Your dealer is an idiot.
