  1. At least you didn't post the picture of an old vRS four times... 🤦‍♂️
  2. How you doing mate? I managed to get a few friends to donate

Well Just hopped in to say hi and to share some happy news 😜 Finally my Kamiq arrived and already in my garage 🎉🎉🎉 First impressions….I’m blown away and excited…it’s totally different experience and goosebumps whenever I push start button. First change that I noticed is that front signal led lights are not dinamic and let’s say that’s the victim of chip shortage…every car produced from week 12 doesn’t have dinamic front signal light…the rear ones are still dinamic and I love it heheh👍🏻 So tomorrow I’ll have 1-on-1 time to adjust everything and make it properly mine heheh…Here are few pictures I managed to take since yesterday 😜
  4. No the ASZ/ARL are 550cc and so flow more than the 530cc BLT
  5. It’s the one drum they kept banging in hospital, up days and down days! I don’t mind taking the rough with the smooth; but am looking forward to when things level out!! Gonna get Zee to put my battery back in my car tomorrow and start her up. May even get Zee to whip her round the block and clean up the discs as they’re very rusty, of course!
  6. Aww, you're bound to get off-days. Keep ya chin up No probs at all
  7. @duck Use the ignore function to remove unwanted guff.
  8. Physically the same but ASZ/ARL are 550cc and BLT are 530cc So if you put ASZ/ARL into a BLT or BLT into an ASZ/ARL it won't run properly and will need remapping.
  9. For UK based you could try www.vwspares.co.uk not every thing is listed on the website but if you call them they can get most parts. Usually buy my oil and filters from them as they are cheaper than ebay.
  10. I have a 2016 280tsi currently at 26.7k miles. Does everything I need perfectly, I own it outright, so will just hang on to it until I cant buy petrol easily or affordably I guess.
  11. so...... finally - I got the tyres changed over. A shiny new set of 4 Michelin Crossclimate 2 SUV - 215/50 R18 92W For reference - Cost was £580 odd quid after the £50 Michelin cashback offer from ASDA (fited locally). Just adjusted the cold pressures (as the garage set them to 38psi) - I popped them down to 32psi and will report back here in a month or two once they are bedded in and I can get to see how they feel 🙂 I feel a lot happier now that I have got rid of the awful Bridgestone Turanza t001's that liked to spin up at the merest bit of dampness and did not feel at all safe when cornering at speed in the cold and/or wet. I know its an odd time of the year to change over to all season tyres but... The fronts only had a smidge under 2mm of meat left (rears around 5mm) - due to all that damp weather wheelspinning with the DSG (and the 1st MOT is due in July) so I took the plunge sooner rather than later. Obviously going from Summer to All Season's I had to do all 4 corners. I guess I could have tried to flog the 2 rear Turanza's on fleabay or similar but life is too short. I let the garage have them to do with what they liked 🙂 Cheers, Paul
  12. The compressor is a variable displacement type, so always engaged by design. When no cooling is requested it only circulates at approx. 4% duty cycle. G65 'signal too low' error codes generally indicate that most/all of the refrigerant has leaked out. Does the A/C still do any cooling?

  15. A few photos from Attenborough nature reserve this afternoon.......
  16. God love this site lol. Information with the touch of humor/banter. It's never been better.
  17. I second this. I often see delivery drivers in Toyota Yarises, and some locally in Almeras.
  18. The -AN number isn't a straight supersedence of the -AL, so you can be pretty sure there is something different about them. No idea what though, might be something trivial like a different connector, but more likely something emissions-related at a guess, between those for A and B-series engines. The -AL number is equivalent to 038 130 079 BX according to Skoda-parts.com
  19. Nissan or Toyota is pretty much the go to motors then. best get an economic one on fuel. ? Does it matter what it is that your run with your insurer for business use / deliveries?
  20. @froggy8what is your budget and how many miles a day /week / month even do you need to be driving the car? ? Have you got someone that knows cars to help you go look at one this time?
  21. Your current vRS is on PCH (or a lease) so its going to be financed by VWFS. If you have another car on order with any other VWFS company they will extend the lease indefinitely for you until the new car arrives. It does mean that you are responsible for any servicing and as its out of warranty now, fixing any issues that occur with the car. I was given the same option when my Audi was due to be returned but luckily didn't need it as my vRS turned up on time. It sounds like if you service it now you'll have it for almost 12 months. Maybe they will give you a discount on a service plan and free extended warranty if you ask nicely?

Well unfortunately it’s all we got, thanks to the abundance of info from dealers 🤷‍♀️
  23. Ah mine was built and left the factory last sunday. Guess its on its way to the docks and has to wait for the next full ship to leave
  24. Mine left the factory wc 25/04 so I hope mine is also nearing me... only so many times you can chase the dealer without looking needy though :~
  25. On a cheerier note, one moonwhite VRS has arrived off the boat! 😃 Hoping to pick up next week after 8 month wait; 2 months longer than expected but still less than some…..
  26. 256mm conversion is well documented. I think that some variants of Mondeo had the same calipers. But it doesn't work with 13 inch wheels. Some variants of Sierra (non-ABS I think), had 238mm discs and calipers with 54mm piston, which should be the same as Felicia. But I don't know which discs can be used with that conversion

This reminds me that we used to be able to perform electrical work at home, but now most (there are probably exceptions, I don't know all the details) domestic electrical work needs to be signed off by NICEIC certified electricians. I'm old enough to remember when new electric devices didn't come with a plug and you'd have to buy one or try and get it included with the product. Since "The Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994" electrical devices have come with plugs pre-fitted. I can imagine a time when only "certified" mechanics will be able to work on cars, but hopefully it won't be in the near future. Maybe they'll slip in the legislation as the number of electric cars increases? I dunno.
  28. I know I wasn’t obliged to, but I ordered the vehicle as they said it would be here in time to allow me to give the old one back. Then three months before delivery is due, they say actually it’s delayed to some point in 2023. Doesn’t really leave the customer with many options as most if not all new cars are on 6 month wait at least. I’m in discussions and will keep you posted.
  29. Engine running makes no difference to basic bleeding of the brakes just alters the pedal pressure if doing it the old 2 man way, if a pressure bleeder was used makes no odds as @KenONeill said needs VCDS to put the ABS into service mode to get any air trapped inside out

other insurance companies are also available lol
  31. On some cars you could move the fuse between two positions , bridging the top two contacts gave permanent on and bridging the lower two gave ignition on. That is not the case with the superb cabin fuse box. Of course you could cut the wire at the back of the fuse box and using the correct VAG fuse adaption part connect it to one of the ignition live rails. I would have concerns messing with the factory wiring though. I have an extra two 12v cigarette sockets mounted on top of the drivers coin box (hidden from view so may not suit you) which are connected to ignition live via a fuse break out lead.
  32. I inserted the large outer pin and then used some lubricant on the smaller pin which i pushed onto a long bolt (m5 if i recall) with a nut at the depth of the small pin which pushed it through easily.
  33. I personally don’t think the customer should be paying for maintenance on a car which the should not be keeping. The only reason I’m having to extend this contract is due to Skoda delays. They have got you both ways.
  34. According to maintenance manual, chapter 5.1, p124-125 (to be downloaded from cardiagn.com), the wear limit is 7mm thickness (incl. backing plate) for front pads and 7.6mm for rear pads.
  35. i handed my last car in just before my 4 year lease was coming to the end.i thought i would be clever in doing this it was due a service at over 400 pounds ,a new set of 4 new tires in which it would of cost around 550/600 pounds.if only i knew about the delay i was going have,i would of paid for all of that and extended my lease another year and i would of saved money in doing that.
  36. Will ask what is the minimum required to keep the contract honoured and let you know
  37. @Arseneknows Have you taken 10 minutes yet and had a look see at your brake pads front and rear to see how much wear there is on the pads. All they get at a service is a visual inspection and then the Service Desk person is able to call the owner and say the discs are 80% worn and new pads and discs are needed. When asked to ask the Technician what the actual measurement is funnily nobody knows and 80% meant 20 % of an unknown number.
  38. Hi guys... Good news is that the radio is fixed...! basically once the radio is out, undo a few screws at the top and side and you’ll be able to lift the CD player out, be careful of the ribbon cables attached to it. The chip that I ran the soldering iron over is the small one (see attached photo), put some flux around the contacts then I ran the iron over the contacts very gently a few times with a very pointy tip. Put it all back back together again and hey presto...!
  39. Surprisingly the 115PS engine came first, and was then replaced by the 110PS engine. I'm not sure of the details but the later one may well have a better fuel consumption. Chris
  40. 3M dual lock is good stuff and an option I've used for some years now. You can get different temp ratings too. It's almost as convenient at velcro, but it grips much more strongly and requires some force to seperate the two halves, especially when cold. Most importantly, it doesn't allow wobble like velcro does, so you get stable footage. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reclosable-Fastener-Waterproof-Stronger-ROOMWATCHMAN/dp/B09L8FYRK9/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2D11DZ6SC2JFG&keywords=3m%2Bdual%2Block&qid=1652691344&sprefix=3m%2Bdual%2Block%2Caps%2C70&sr=8-5&th=1 Another option is "nano tape", but I've not used it with dash cams, so can't comment on how good it is for that application, but it works great on number plates. (Edit: Link below is just to give you an idea of the stuff, I have no idea if that particular product is any good.) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Multipurpose-No-Trace-Removable-Washable-Reusable/dp/B09XRBRCRZ/ref=sr_1_13?crid=1Y3WFJ2OEWUWZ&keywords=nano+tape&qid=1652691415&sprefix=nano+tape%2Caps%2C85&sr=8-13
  41. Ken, I assume you couldn’t have read very well as a cannula is used for an INR check. No one will be taking blood out through my manhood!
  42. My car went in to today for an update from SW Version 1803 to 1896, one of the issues this update addresses is the driving on the left/right setting for the headlights and the ACC braking when overtaking. Not had much chance to try the ACC out as yet, but my other issues seem to be fixed. I've started a new thread about it here

I'm no stranger to cycling but for a lot of years have been mainly Road/Gravel focussed after falling out of love with hike a bike MTB climbs here in the Peak District. My son is almost 15 and I have no chance keeping up with him now on the up-hills & as he is getting into MTB racing (XC and Downhill) I need to be able to keep up with him/challenge him on his training rides. I test rode a 2021 Trek Rail 5 at Dalby Forrest and the geometry was so close to my Trek Top Fuel (but with extra suspension travel) it felt so familiar but so much more capable so I took a trip to my local Trek dealer (only 8miles away) & bought a 2022 Trek Rail 7. Its a great spec & doesn't need any upgrades although in time I may change the Bosch Purion screen for the Kiox (I don't need the mapping but would like a better battery gauge/clock & info on my energy used vs power provided) I've only had it for a week & its fantastic, I forgot how much I actually enjoyed mountain biking & now being able to climb stuff I've never been able to before its giving me a whole new world to explore Matthew
  44. All EA888 engines seem to do that.
