  1. Obviously the obligatory comment about fire.. apparently if you use napalm and do it in the morning it smells of victory. 🫡😉😋🚁 (To be clear just in case anyone doesn’t realise - Joke do not use fire to clear debris from the car) On a serious note how about a handful of straws gaffer taped onto a nozzle?

Ordered Se L estate 1.5 petrol August 21 and got told today it’s at the dealer (UK) and we can pick it up this weekend! Quite excited to finally see it, minor annoyance- Skoda only provided 1 key so will need to wait on the second one. Hopefully will get the reg today so I can sort insurance etc.

It's on the driveway! Order placed beginning of September (2021) and took delivery today. vRS estate petrol manual with my own selection of goodies. Now to sort out the infotainment / phone thing. I spent so long sat on the driveway idling while sorting it out a lady walking her dog passed me the second time and walked to up check I was all right! I have decided to do what all true men won't admit to and read the manual. Luckily we're off for the weekend, so it gets a run-in.
  4. Maybe this attachment? I've had this in my basket for probably nearly 2 year and never bought one so can't comment but I bet it would do the job: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nifogo-Attachment-Flexible-Keyboard-Cleaners/dp/B085NS3XJY/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2I8UJ7YTSOWIT&keywords=hoover+straw&qid=1666872532&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIyLjYxIiwicXNhIjoiMi40NiIsInFzcCI6IjIuMjMifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=hoover+straw%2Caps%2C72&sr=8-3
  5. Also @DieselMonte Well. in the absence of Ryan's dad, "stick a ****ing Weber on it"!
  6. Leave the wheels exactly as they are, they make the car look even more honest. I am so jealous of that car, it reminds me in some ways of an 80's Mitsubishi Hatchback (I cant even recall the model) that I resurrected for my sister but that was a high miler with rotten wings (I replaced them) not a time warp honest car like yours, it was the same colour though and cleaned up just like yours, even high miler Jap small capacity engines run like sewing machines but yours is just extraordinary, I'm so pleased it has been saved.

I was about to poke you as well, it seemed it was taking too long already 😉 don’t forget bragging about it here and letting us know if she was worth the wait 😎 Btw, I took a day off for picking it up 😎😊

Gz, enjoy and many safe miles 👍 I took the manual, read about the brakes and gentle driving at the start, but got lost after (might be because I was reading it in bed instead of trying out things in the car). I guess I don’t know half of what this lady can do 😊 but we still have a lot of time to bond. I was a bit worried how I’d get used to that small switch instead of gearbox, but that should have been the least of my worries 😉

😀 Great! Enjoy the pickup tomorrow, and have a safe first drive home! We look forward to getting your impressions and a pic, of course, 😀!

I was on a business trip this week and was unable to pick up the car. Today I did the registration and insurance, so I am picking it up tomorrow after work. I promise I will come back with first impressions and a pic. I don't have the heart to just vanish from here with no info after 15 months of torture we endured together.
  11. More Piccies Needed to take it to put petrol in, have sussed the fuel float is stuck, will probably free itself up with some driving me thinks. On advice from a friend I raised the idle, it tried to idle just around 500rpm before, raised to 1000 now. Slow as anything and I did need to hold the choke a fair bit to get it to smooth out, but it is running, driving and amazingly, extremely comfortable.
  12. Mine does it too, tested it today. I've never driven another car that's done it before. I wonder if the LHD ones go the other way... like some sort of "safety" feature?
  13. That’s something I use. Perfect for the narrow Superb seat rails.
  14. @Warrior193 @Danoid I checked with the shops and neighbours. They all know the car, it's been parked there or thereabouts for five years and they see me cleaning it often. I meet most of my neighbours at the car. Anyway, no luck. I even walked about the common opposite to see if the wind had taken it. I checked on a central website linked to breakers yards, I got two replies: £140. I checked eBay and found a used shelf for £89, but it looked grey and scuffed. Others were closer to the £140 mark. Finally I called my dealer: £157.46, including strings and hardware. So, I went for new. The cost of a tank and a half of petrol. (Edit) If anyone gets in the same predicament, the part number is K3V5867769E6V0 for the cover (not parcel shelf) and K1M6867574A for the holder (as the pins which attach to the hatch that the strings hook over). Turns out I didn't need the two pins as they were already in the hatch, but they were only 28p/each.
  15. They’re taking the pi$$. I’ve used Skoda main dealers for that last 2 decades but no more, as they’re exactly the same as the others in the VAG. 20 years ago, they were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble and warranty was the norm. Now, nothing is in warranty - it’s normal sir, it’s normal w&t sir, not a warranty issue sir, it’s within tolerance sir or the classic, it seems to be driver abuse…. Sir! If/when it’s out of warranty, dump them and find a great indy; it’s what I’ve done now. There is big difference on the hourly rate, they value your business, they don’t make you wait for weeks for a courtesy (opps, sorry, it’s now a chargeable rental car) and finally, they don’t rip you off, because they want you to come back. SUK Dealers don’t give a toss, as they’re in the business of servicing PCP and leasing companies.
  16. Could you just have stickers made up that say 'Brake Caliper' on them....? 😇

I am a bit concerned about what is happening with our dear colleague @MaximusMeridius; maybe he has already immersed himself in Octavia's manual and forgot about us to kindly post a pic of his new love 🚗😉😀 or perhaps he is already too focused on a rear cam 😀?

Wow. That is really good information. Thank you so much for taking the time and care to answer my query 👏👏👏

    Yes I did mean 1896!
  20. @Joss1733 Did your car come minus them because someone never fitted them at the PDI?

Hi Robjon, thank you. Yes the Roomster has really impressed me so far, my first Skoda, the design is so practical & clever & most if not all of the reviews are positive. Sorry to hear about the knee but your not alone. I also have over 50 years of motoring & not many cars stick out apart from my Fiat Stillo estate & a Rover 75 estate both diesels/cheap & underated.
  22. This is what caused me a few problems when removing the glovebox out of my Mk1. Took me a little footering to get it right.
  23. Just a thought, have the OPs lamp reflectors started to deteriorate?
  24. The rods and pistons are massively stronger than the valves, only the valves will be damaged especially since the engine has not run but only spun over on the starter. There's no need to catastrophise, it's bad enough without imagining worse!
  25. You will get natural migration of water over time through the connection to the header tank but there is no flow as such in relation to the main cooling system as the system is designed to operate at much lower temperatures than the main cooling system
  26. It's really bad the price changes are not shown on the actual charge points. For Tesco charger, there's a giant screen perfect for this! People are expected to know these things that are "published" on twitter. I really don't know how/why this is acceptable. I've had similar argument with Chargemaster Polar back in 2018, where a free rapid near my workplace became paid without warning. The screen hasn't changed, no mention of unit pricing, the first thing I learn of it was when I received the monthly membership statement. Even their website pricing hasn't changed and I was told I need to clear my browser cache.
  27. Not on a diesel it wont, although at the time you posted the OP, like many, had not given out the important information of which engine his car has. After the first 30 seconds of running a diesel has no significant additional enrichment, some of the heat energy will be lost to the overfunctioning cooling system but no more than keeping the heater on full, neither of which are measurable in MPG terms.
  28. I apologise but that frequent misspelling presses all my buttons, I usually keep quiet but you have spelled "brakes" correctly as many times as misspelled it.
  29. I have deleted it too. I didn't use it much and was keeping it just for the old 50p PAYG rate as was a bargain if I needed public charging. Now I'll do the same as you, probably using my Electroverse card (Octopus energy). On a brighter note, Osprey have announced a price REDUCTION from 1st November to 79p/kWh.
  30. my Thermo**** stuck closed 3 weeks ago on way to work, (2.0 cr elegance 4x4 ) managed to get to my local garage by putting the heater on full warm and full power blower which kept the temp at 90. £58.20 for a genuine one, but its a bugger to get to as its under the inlet manifold which needs to come out.
  31. I shall send over a link in a few minutes time when I'm available. MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0480T
  32. So I found the following: Particle Filter, soot mass calculated: 10.53g Particle Filter, soot mass measured: 3.27g Particle Filter, Oil ash mass: 22.89g As you said, these were in the Engine section, under the Live Data header. 👍
  33. Thanks for the video! And thank you all for your answers! I’m always amazed how much easier it is to solve problems like this when you have access to forums like these with helpful and experienced people. Thanks again everyone! 🙏 😊
  34. You have to remove the four tailgate trim panels and disconnect all the connectors and harness clips then pull the harness & rear washer pipe out through the top of the tailgate.

  37. Identical to yours. H58 and 1889.
  38. My light never comes on.
  39. Unless it's parked on the harbour slip in Whitehaven, you just might be having your leg pulled by the dealer. And - even if he's right that they're FUBAR'd - why would you want to replace them with the same OEM crap which hasn't lasted 2 years / 12K miles since rolling out of the factory? Having now done two Rapids, a Fabia and an Octavia for terrible rear discs within 2 years of leaving the factory, I can confirm the discs are truly bad quality. The replacements - nothing special, often Mintex - have easily outlasted the factory fit. The last Rapid I did was actively delaminating chunks of disc surface as it was driven! Get to a good independent for a second opinion.
  40. This happened to me and the hinges turned out to be ok, they had become misaligned due to the impact.
  41. I don’t get the two buttons in the app either. Chatting to my dealer a while back we reckoned its to do with the hardware/firmware/software versions in the car. I haven’t yet pursued it since a significant [firmware/software] update to my car last month.
  42. Well, that's nature of S/S in a way. It doesn't work, when engine needs more power for some reason, shouldn't work after spirited driving, to allow turbo to cool down, and doesn't work when A/C needs to cool down the interior. Anyway i can see, that in O4 to works more often than in Ateca and Leon. But S/S will never work 100% of the time, even in "full" hybrid. Yes, that was annoying. One of the reasons i have almost always disabled it in Ateca. But in O4, which is mHEV, this is not an issue for me. Engine start is so fast, and drive aided by electric motor-generator), that i cannot see a difference between this, or having engine running all the time. I mean situation where i'm slowing down, engine shuts off, and before i stop i'm accelerating again. In O4 reaction to accelerator is instant. Yes, there is, but it barely noticable for me. Or maybe i will put it another way - some vibration is there, but it's not annoying for me Combining it with a fact, that - again - reaction to accelerator is instant, it have no issue with this at all. In fact i very much like S/S in this car
  43. Maybe needs an Italian tune up?
  44. Finally, after two months I have cleaned the car. The refurbed silver wheels are much more to my liking as I never really was a fan of the gloss black. I've also attached a couple of photos of our Ignis as I had those wheels done at the same time in BBS gold.
  45. A terrible start, not a terrible outcome.
  46. I use my headlights when it's dark, I don't really bother otherwise. I live in the countryside so when it gets dark there's no street lighting to interfere with my headlights, townies need brighter headlights so they can blind each other under street lit conditions and in car parks.
  47. Could also be AH. I just can't see dots where dots should be to make that last letter read as an M?
  48. The most logical answer to this is that the foreign object is stuck in the thermostat, stopping it from closing. In that case, your engine will be trying to get up to working temperature whilst the whole cooling system is trying to cool it down...

Yeah I’ve ordered in the UK also in November 21. Still no build date for me either. Mine is the Plug In VRS….which from what I’ve read on here is one of the most problematic specs. ☹️ Current car due to go back in Dec….considering buying used now.
