Sadly my advice would be listen to warning lights. Was the oil light orange or red? If I had to guess (and it is a complete guess) I would think you might have damaged the engine internals by causing higher friction due to no oil. This may then have affected the cylinder compression.
  2. Again, with the macro... If you look close enough you can see where the rust has bedded in.
  3. Beat me to it Dave. Tried a different battery Panasonic 2032 instead of a 2025. Worked first time. I can only assume it was a contact problem, as the 2032 is slightly thicker. All ok now, and my money still in my pocket, not the Skoda dealers. thanks for all the suggestions guys.
  4. Thanks, it's a hard decision but the right one 🙂
  5. Cant beat a bit of macro Jewelled wasp
  6. Well all agreed I get my new car on Wednesday and Yeomans take over my old car when it’s been fixed. There’s an old saying “It doesn’t matter what the retail problem is, what matters is what the seller does to rectify the situation “ quite frankly I don’t think that they could have done more. **1* happens.

why... if there is a warning, why would you just carry on and knowingly cause more damage? I wouldnt call it a breakdown as that implies it wasnt expected and couldnt be avoided - more negligence? What can be done about it? Well youll have to get it seen by a garage who will gauge how bad the damage is and possibly recommend a replacement engine if its seized.
  8. No matter what, you've got to have a flashing light. Some drivers use a 2032 battery, I do.

My beastie. They missed off the wireless charger, even though I'd paid for it. So they're going to order it in and retrofit it.
  11. Yes I was aware but thank you. p.s. Nearly forgot my main reason for posting which was to say that of all the vehicles I've owned starting with a Francis Barnett Falcon in 1963, the two that stood head and shoulders above the rest were my Black Edition Yeti and then when I was doing many less miles my 1.2 SE DSG Yeti both great cars and fondly remembered 🙂
  12. Not sure if you know or perhaps driving a car not aware, but there are "Dial-a-bus" services you can call up for door-to-door services to get you out an about. https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/transport-roads/public-transport/derbyshire-connect-active-travel/derbyshire-connect-and-active-travel.aspx They can accomodate wheelchair if you use one, and you can get a free bus pass too, and in some cases a "companion plus" if you need assistance onto normal bus with a carer. Again if you haven't already, get Adult Social services to give you an assessment and you might qualify for some care hours for someone to get you out an about. Hope that helps you out somewhat 🤝
  13. Two possible causes. The security pin that stops the wheel being turned when locked has failed and is jamming the mechanism OR the switch assembly at the back of the lock has failed. The latter is a more common problem and there are pictures in threads on here that will help you to take out the lock and the switch to make a repair.
  14. Welcome. Nothing says 'Factory' more than Blank Buttons.
  15. I had the message for the driver's side headlight that appeared to be down to dirt on the exterior due to a particularly salty and slushy trip. Cleaned the headlight, stopped and restarted the car and it hasn't re-occur over the last 6 weeks. My car doesn't have headlight washers. As far as I could tell the light was still on however the matrix smarts wouldn't work and I guess there's some part of the system that tries to make sure you'll not blind oncoming drivers if light isn't going where it's supposed to?

The oil probably has a silver tint to it as well now...
  17. I did 😂😂 Since the eGMP platform has a tail happy weight distribution in RWD format I imagine it’ll drift pretty well.

You might get away with a complete rebuild… could bore it out get a 1.7 tdi 😂👍

Bad points : 1. The noise from the front of your car which sounded like the engine destroying itself, was in fact the engine destroying itself. 2. You will have to replace the engine. Good points : 1. You’ve confirmed the oil level and oil pressure warning circuits and lamps are working. 2. You will get a new engine. Every cloud has a silver lining.
  20. Hello @BeyondEvil, no I'm afraid I haven't got one of those. The only left hand drive motor module I have is driver's side for a Roomster with all four windows electric. 6Y2959802A. I would say that it is rather rare for the passenger side modules to give trouble; have you checked its fuse and wiring at A-pillar bellows to either/both front doors. I can assist with some voltage and continuity tests if you have a multimeter, this can be just as effective as visual inspection of the wiring. Is the passenger side door lock working normally/fully? PM me if you like, particularly if you think you might like to try to sell my Roomster module locally for a big cut. 🙂

Open 01 - Engine Then Advanced Indentification There should be a list of programming attempts/date But there does exist tools that can roll back the values, or if it was flashed on a bench (not usually for that year)

  23. Moral of the story seems to be you need 88% battery for the full beans, but mustn't charge it above 80% 🤨 And buy a Kia instead Gaz
  24. See the last post.
  25. It is to do with the wheel speed ,the octavia doesnt have the valve type pressure sensors 👍
  26. We spotted a GoldenEye earlier, along with a few others............
  27. You are a gentleman, and a scholar, and a connoisseur of good whisky ! That's exactly what I was after. Now to grope about and try to figure out if all these parts are still there.

We did and despite looking much more modern (new front end and rear styling). it is effectively the same as our existing S-Cross. We've had an 1.4 S-Cross SZ5 for nearly 5 years/60k miles, but have recently opted to take advantage of 0% and traded it in for a Karoq 1.5 TSi.
  29. LLLParts works at the present time. Fairly up-to-date.
  30. Turning the steering wheel might help release the lock too 👍 Much like this:

This has been a fascinating read, from page one to this last page. As for me, it has always been my intention to never own another car other than my Yeti, so selling it is inconceivable to me. IF I was ever to contemplate such a horrible thing then I think either the latest Lada Niva or the latest Suzuki Jimny might be of mild interest to me. Good luck on your replacement.
  32. £4.40 for the pair.
  33. To clean them out better you'd be worth getting some compressed air and blowing it back through the nozzles while the pipes are disconnected.
  34. There's a lot more to life than driving. 🙂

  36. There was a thread or maybe just posts about the vRS Enyaq Coupe in the Enyaq Section and buyers being conned which seems to have been deleted.
  37. In the UK with speed limits on UK roads your sporty looking EV the size and weight of an elephant will get passed slower vehicles easily enough on the 60 mph national limit other than the signed 70 mph ones. That is without full throttle on the minimum power. If you drive yellow ones drivers might even let you pass as they think they are being taken like a King or by Traffic Police, emergency services. As to acceleration to get someone off your jacky that will be ok unless a fuller charged EV is what is there. PS. I read the post on this forum on the vRS Enyaq Coupe breaking the Guinness book record on the longest EV drift on ice . Good on them with a car that must have been producing the reduced power level for the majority of the time while getting the record. 15 minutes and 58 seconds of drifting. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510386-skoda-broke-the-guinness-world-records-title-for-the-longest-continuous-drift-on-ice
  38. New sensor has arrived, from China (Ali) and now there are no faults, everything working properly. Hope it stays like that.
  39. I was going to reply earlier saying something could be stuck in the port on the phone but was busy. Looks like another issue though. I've had crap build up in the port before that caused very similar issues.

I think that can be caused by a dirty throttle body. Easy enough to remove and clean it. Worth cleaning the EGR valve too. Just did both on my VRS. Brake cleaner was OK but carb cleaner seemed stronger and really cleaned them aided by an old toothbrush.
  41. It's very very hard to make Diesel combust, it will burn if you add it to an established fire but otherwise you have to vaporise it before exposing it to an ignition source. VAG must have tried really hard to make self combusting diesel vehicles, as hard as they tried with the dieselgate cheating. I nearly wrote self composting, I must have been thinking of Ford, British Leyland, Fiat, Lancia etc!
  42. I'm loving how many people are worried about attracting police attention. I always steal plain coloured 5 door Ford Focus for when I'm robbing banks or dealing drugs. ANPR and cameras don't care about colours.
  43. Yes, the car can be a bit dim witted in ACC when overtaking, normally its because the car is either slowing down or holding place on radar and has to 'sort out' whats up ahead using radar before accelerating back up to your cruise speed. To speed things up, you can either knock the shifter back into sport or just take over, use you feet to override the cruise. Step off and the car will revert to ACC, Simples 😁
  44. I wouldn't bother with the Turtle Wax stuff - if it does do anything (like hide swirls) then the detailer will just have to work harder to remove it and get back to bare paint to start the correction.
  45. My new steering wheel arrived hopefully I can get the buttons operating the mfd, watching a couple of airbags just have to wait a month or so
  46. When the radio mutes use your volume scroll wheel on your steering wheel and increase the volume as it sounds like it’s set low. I use the built in satnav and that’s how you can increase the sound, rather than in the menus. It’s worth a shot
  47. Wish I had found this thread before having my screen replaced. Couldn't fault the guys at SatNav Systems Ltd. They diagnosed the problem and did it while I waited. Still way cheaper than the dealer diagnosis of a new system!
