  1. Of interest to most of us, Tebay services has started work on upgrading/ adding to the chargers on site. Northbound will get 3 new chargers and southbound 2 new chargers, all dual head so 6 and 4 bays. 300kW chargers or split to 150kW/head if both sides in use. I believe these are being assisted by a battery in a container to supply peak power as the grid connection is not up to this yet (https://nationalhighways.co.uk/about-us/new-charging-systems-to-help-electric-vehicle-drivers-on-our-motorways/). Westmoreland are also installing more chargers at their other sites, details here https://westmorlandfamily.com/charging/ Gridserve have started work on 12 new 350kW chargers at Chester services, scheduled to be live this summer. Hopefully in time for school holidays as the M56 is a major tourist route. MFG opened their latest charging hub at a completely new service station near Thirsk known as Sowerby services. 8x150kW chargers.
  2. The lower one of the two images. It looks more purposeful.

I have got my VIN and registration number. Waiting for car to get from port to dealer. SEL estate PHEV ORDERED mid Feb 2022. We tend to see cars arriving in batches so I hope the next batch are dispatched to those waiting soon.
  4. Hi all, looking to get a maxton splitter for my non vrs octavia but not sure which to choose??? Which do ye reckon looks better?
  5. Looks like a knitting needle. It could have been used as a tool by a mechanic and left after doing work. I would say quite confidently it is not a part of the car.
  6. @tgoNovember 2019 i got £600 at handback. When i bought a used car using 4 years HP from Motability i never had to pay the final year because that was them stopping doing that. Back in 2003 i bought a new Jimny with the 5 years HP you could get and got a good deal on it and kept it for 17 years.
  7. Fair enough, it fits my needs though, and with GCB & £750 next car advance, it just slides into my self imposed £1k limit (I refuse to spend anymore on something I don't get to keep)
  8. So you are not buying it Motability are. No worries then about the DSG or anything else. My Corsa Electric goes back in August and it has been a right lemon, the worst of i think 13 cars from motability. The last 3 weeks off the road was an auto gearbox fault and it does not even have an Auto box as such. (I got loss of use payment from Motability.) I was looking at a Kamiq 1.5 TSI ACT / DSG if not going PHEV, but have decided not to spend £11,000 over 3 years leasing from Motability again. Even though i get £750 towards the next cars Advance payment.)
  9. I might if buying as a purchase, it would be a Motability vehicle.
  10. It is a VW Group wide issue, but then it is Skoda that manufactured at one point around 2,500 a day DQ200 DSG for the VW Group models. That was in 48 applications. At 2,300 last year. http://team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/247951-skoda-auto-has-produced-its-four-millionth-dq200-dsg-automatic-gearbox.html http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513578-very-strange-fault
  11. I would buy the extended warranty for 4 or 5 years just in case your circumstance change. DSG Clutch Packs are covered under the warranty, but really that is not the common issue.
  12. Oh, now I see private message. tnx. I will inform you about the result.
  13. Fingers crossed. Pretty much sorted from 2018. Apart from the few here and there we hear about and the ones we never will, but that is just Skoda / VW and over a decade to get them sorted and still things can go wrong. But then 2018 was 5 years ago now so we will see if any issues with them. But if you have this as a keeper best maybe have a warranty that covers the DSG that goes beyond the manufacturers one. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513192-dsg-repair-costs-should-skoda-pay
  14. Plenty vans and even lorries manage to stay on their own side on country roads and you see spaces where many would say 'you can get a bus through there' yet those in a Tesla X can not.
  15. The Bull Bar as fitted to that Pathfinder would not fit your vehicle as it has stays that come up from the chassis longerons, probably the towbar fixings, its also not wide enough to protect the outside corner which seems to get sideswiped. Behind the bumper is a rigid crashbar, easilt removable to fabricate mounting plates to sit flush with the inner face of the plastic bumper for something worthy of its name to be added to the outside, I assume you are old enough to remember when bumpers did what was written on the tin! What I am thinking of is the rear "step" type bumpers added to the rear of transit vans etc, one of those of the correct length would protect your vehicle and above all leave its mark on the incompetent sideswipers, they are not lazy, ignorant or selfish but simply incompetent, the same sort that have me standing on the brakes like only 10 minutes ago when I approach a stop junction and they are turning left onto my road (I'm in France) and cutting the corner massively. If you cant find a suitable width extended van rear step bumper then bolt on a length of Armco! As it is on the back and not on the front you are less likely to run into trouble with it causing injury if a pedestrian stepped out in front of you.
  16. It's probably because lane keep assist is really aggressive on Tesla's. Parked car ahead and want to straddle the centre line? sometimes it warns loudly like an emergency. I tolerate it just in case I need it, but I can see why people would turn it off.
  17. Tesla initially built their network exclusively for Tesla's. But are slowly opening it up less busy ones. Until the short charging cable issue is resolved, it is not practical to open all locations due to some locations are extremely busy. It would be very wasteful at busy locations to have cars not yet compatible (due to poor charging stall design) taking up more than 1 space. As long as 1 incompatible (not rear left) car is charging, there will always be at least 1 wasted space. Remember Ionity also give preferential treatment to its sponsoring brands: https://ionity.eu/en/network/access-and-payment Also, there is a subscription to bring price of charging at Tesla superchargers down to same as Tesla cars. It's rather sad to see you feel this way. It is indeed frustrating to arrive and see chargers all being used. But I never got upset when Ionity didn't put in Chademo for Leaf. TBH it's same with Tesla's short cables at busy locations. It is normal for charge point operators to put their sponsoring customers front and centre. The Autopilot camera system is the same between LHD and RHD cars. It has geofencing rules, taking EU mainland cars here and driving UK cars in EU mainland, the autopilot overtaking behaviour changes according to which side it is driving on.
  18. As I said previously, I have full CCTV that captures most offenders --- that is not the issue. It is the time I have to be without a vehicle whilst repairs are carried out. The Taxi firm has been spoken to on numerous occasions, Councillors (useless) have been involved, MP & MSP's (even more useless) have stuck their noses in, Hotel Management have given written assurances of remedial action - none of which have ever been actioned - and so on. The spot to park is perfect, from my personal point of view - being adjacent to my home and clearly marked "Disabled". It is selfish, lazy, careless, and inconsiderate drivers that are the problem. (a) Placing a cone on the highway, without written permission from Council or Police, is illegal, (b) drivers already ignore the "Keep Entrance Clear" signs, so a moveable cone is an unlikely deterrent, and (c) moving a cone whilst using crutches is quite difficult.
  19. Maybe some of those bumper pads and a half decent dash cam that records parked events. A word with the taxi firm or persons insurance co armed with the video evidence should soon sort any repeat offenders. Sounds like a particularly bad spot to park and also that we don't have to suggest looking for an alternative. My only other thought at this time is to have a cone sit on the corner of the bay right next to your car to make it clear that people need to go round it rather than through your car.
  20. Fairly much how it works. TMC codes messages are highly compact, the objective being to fit most messages into the 37 bits that were still available in the RDS message group. Have a read of chapter 7 here.
  21. I think you'd find that those "dive planes" are no stronger than the plastic bumper moulding.
  22. no idea why there is a blank post as I didn’t even try to post anything… As for the gollus wheels, they were no problem at all on a beam based estate. Octavia should be towed though..
  23. This should be done with SD, started from Service Menu (lon press MENU button)

I went to the dealer 5-6 times in April, they can only help to upgrade the system, but the problem remains the same. They said they would forward the problem to Skoda, but nothing more.
  25. Many years ago the brake lights were only on if they were sitting with a foot on the brake pedal in an auto and not going to N and putting on the parking brake. There are those police drivers that will sit held up in traffic that ignored the highway code. Then in more recent years sit in their XC90 Volvo or what ever in gridlock traffic like the Edinburgh bypass and Autohold has the brake lights on. Common sense has drivers last in the queue with their brake light on. Lots around without common sense though.

Yes you can. But this will only change gearbox mode from D to S and back. It won't change any other settings of the car. To do that you need to change driving mode through the menu in the main screen. @kederov you can also contact me on private if you want to discuss this further in Slovenian language 😉

In the new mk4 Octavia you can't switch from auto to manual mode with the DSG stick anymore. DSG selector stick is only used to switch between DSG modes. Park, Neutral and Drive (Sport).
  28. Heel & toeing on the road with a diesel engine 🥴 It must have the noise simulator!
  29. Updated infotainment: MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4518 1240 --> MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526 1440
  30. Restarts after update to 1989 started happening. Always after starting the car. But somehow it got sorted itself and it no longer happens. Ì correlate it with errors been deleted from system, when my windscreen was changed and the guy did recalibration he said system had bunch of errors stored, somehow dealer does not delete them.
  31. I think number one looks better.
  32. I think it’s pretty clear the seatbelt was chewed by a rodent, and it also found this empty popcorn packet and tried to drag it into the boot. Better have a word with my daughter about leaving food in cars!! It also ate some of my parcel shelf which fortunately doesn’t show New belt is fitted, just need to sort out the headlight and get a WoF re-check. Those &$@ing headlight adjuster clips! Took Rusty for a WoF re-check, we got the headlight adjusted just right then “ping!” The clip flew off. At the back of headlight that has to come out to get to the clips. At 4:58pm. So I had to come home again with no warrant of fitness. Third time lucky! Success! It took another 45 min of taking the headlight out and re fitting to finally get it right. Running issue also sorted it was cylinder 2 plug lead. Will tidy later but it no longer sounds like a Subaru. OMG what a revelation! I have decent headlights now! Last 2 wofs they must have ignored it.

I have flicked from D to S while driving (at fairly low speeds) without any problems. I prefer driving in S and usually select that from start up, just pull the 'thumb' shift back a second time before moving off. My car doesn't have DSG 7sp, it is the 8sp single clutch gearbox.

Thankyou. I think I may have solved it. I went to check the fuel pressure regulator but without realising I found the fuel tank breather as they look similar. I disconnected then reconnected the plug on this and the car started right up and ran fine. I think it may have been a poor connection on the plug making this breather not work properly. As I'm sure you know, this would create a vacuum in the tank and stop fuel flow.Ive read a lot of threads about Felicia poor running and can't say that anyone's mentioned this part before.Im aware of it now so will still check the fuel pressure but I'm pretty sure by complete fluke I've found out what the problem has been. Thankyou for the suggestions. I'll certainly be back if I find the problem persists.

  36. Booked Racingline for 2nd June! As they get good feedback and are £400 cheaper!
  37. I think they're pre-cuts for models that have amplifiers and such. I think all carpets are the same on all cars then in the factory when the cables are being installed, they remove the carpet bits that need to be removed depending on what extras the car has.
  38. IIRC the Octavia 3 1.5TSI was only ever sold as the ACT version, but as you say toot it's very important to mention it's the ACT version especially when talking to a non-Skoda dealer.
  39. I just get peed off when they are using free or cheap chargers and the driver wants them to 100% before moving their sore ass. But there are many like that with big, medium or small batteries even doing it every time they charge even if they only ever do a few miles a time between charging.
  40. Agreed, but I'm not jealous , not me, no way, not at all, nosiree! G 😁
  41. Rusty had a visit from a descendent, The RS5 belongs to Steve who I bought Rusty from.
  42. Correct, the on the road price includes the VED, the VED threshold is calculated by excluding this. But it does include price of any factory fitted options. Those that are in the accessory catalogue, can be fitted by the dealer and invoiced separately (even if fitted before collecting), it is silly to have something like a factory fit spare wheel if it just takes you over the £40k. Get it as an accessory on different invoice and it doesn't count towards VED. Here is link to everything that can be an accessory. https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/d0ba0841-dcb0-462f-9c23-21fe72de6185

Quick pass with the DA and Menzerna polish. Needs lots more time to get it really shiny though.
  45. Did the mechanic divulge his wisdom about what he considers incorrect in the desin of the backplate which would cause such corrosion? It seems to be the week for mechanics speculation on front brake disc dust shields!
  46. Or if you have a facelift ('18 and on) then you might have a pin sticking out of the bottom of the cap which fits nicely into a hole on the "arm" of the fuel flap.
