  1. @Krle Let us fix in 20 minutes what the dealer cannot, I have lost track of how many sent.
  2. Someone at the factory will be scratching their head wondering about the sudden surge of 1941 updated cars connecting to the servers 😁
  3. A battery charger is great as an additional layer of protection, better safe than sorry. That applies especially to those with Start-Stop enabled, since I imagine their batteries will have a lower SOC on average. I always turn off Start-Stop, but I still connected a 4 amp charger as a precaution. @varooom Two drives after the update everything still seems perfect. The manual I mentioned was successfully installed today, I guess it did indeed need the deep cycle. The system feels just a tad snappier overall (less animation lag I feel), which could be placebo.

Little run around the maunga this weekend with some local car people.
  5. It's there in the user manual.....
  6. Just done the update. All went flawlessly 🎉 took a car for a quick spin. Systems seems to be snapper, very evident on reversing camera as now it is instant. Seems that sound setting bug is gone! That one annoyed me most. Will see how it goes further.
  7. Just collected from dealer. RF module replaced and new 1941 software on it. Hope this works as i’m on the cusp of submitting a rejection letter to the dealer to hand the car back… No crashes on the way home…
  8. Removing the upper cowl is just to give a bit more space and prevent scratching any trim. I think you are right about being able to do it without removing, but for the extra 10 seconds if seems worth it to me
  9. What a most excellent team effort in helping out the forum members. A reminder to those with 1941 to send in some feedback after a few days and weeks to see how stable this really is 🤝
  10. So a fairly common problem along the MQB platform such as golf, octavia, superb and such is the steering wheel control thumb wheels either become intermittent or in my case, they would operate on their own randomly. Heres a guide to fix it: Cause: As the thumb wheels rotate anything that is on your hands ends up behind the wheel and gunks up the internal switch sensors and mainly the hall sensor which causes the fault. Tools required: Plastic trim removal tools Flat head screwdrivers Small picks Small mirror Torx screwdrivers T30, T25, T6 Contact cleaner Small brushes for cleaning such as makeup brushes 10mm spanner The first part is actually removing the steering wheel controls from the steering wheel. As we are working with airbags here you will have to disconnect the battery - take note if you have a keyless car to turn off the steering lock before disconnecting the battery. Allow the car to sit for 10 minutes to discharge anything in the airbag system for safety. Next you will be removing the upper steering wheel trim above the indicator and wiper stalks, this is done by simply pulling up on the trim closest to the steering wheel end. In the photo below indicated with a red arrow. Once this is done just flap it out the way towards the instrument cluster. We now how to remove the airbag itself. First adjust the steering rake all the way closest to you and down to give room behind the steering wheel. Turn the steering wheel 90 degrees in either direction so a spoke is facing straight up. I was unable to photograph this as its so awkward to get to, but using a small mirror and flat screwdriver look into the back of the steering wheel you will see a metal clip that needs pushing into the centre of the steering wheel till that side of the airbag pops out. Rotate the steering wheel 180 degrees the other way and pop this clip out too. Disconnect the 2 plugs for the airbag and steering wheel control and put the airbag aside. Now if you have DSG there will be 2 very small white plugs going into the backs of each side of steering controls, simply disconnect these. The steering controls can now be removed by using gentle force and the trim tools and will come out complete with the black trim as well, be careful not to damage any of the clips as you pull it out, there are no screws but be careful. Now you have the steering controls off the car the hard part is done. Turn them over on a soft surface as to not damage them. And remove the 2 small screws on each side to separatex the controls from the actual black trim and making sure to remove with the ribbon cable and not damage the cable. Put the black trim aside. Now we have the controls on their own and the following must be repeated for both sides! Undo the 2 tiny screws with a red arrow and also pop the clips open for the 2 blue arrows Slide the back cover down the ribbon cable and out the way to expose the circuit board so it looks like below Now lift the circuit board out of the plastic housing to expose the front face of the circuit board, we will start with the circuit board cleaning first, get some of your contact cleaner (if its a spray, spray some into the lid to have a small bowl of liquid to dip your makeup brushes in) and you are going to wipe clean all of the arrowed parts shown (even if they dont look dirty!) Next the thumb wheel sensor itself needs a clean, be very very gentle here, the components can be damaged if you are rough. You are going to use a clean brush with contact cleaner to clean inside this sensor, both sides on the inside faces where you can see the hole, and the opposite face too. This is the circuit board clean now. Next is the contact pads and thumb wheel itself. First for the contact pads give them the same treatment as above on the arrowed parts Then pull this rubber cover off to expose the inside of the back of the control face. Be careful and take note of the small plastic 'plungers' that will fall out and need to go back in the holes arrowed blue below. The arrowed red section is the sensor pickup for the thumb wheel and where build up mainly occurs. This needs a very thorough clean with contact cleaner and the makeup brush as you rotate the thumb wheel to get every side of it. The small cut outs in this little pickup wheel need to be free from everything, including any lint or build up. Once this is done, repeat the whole procedure for the other side. Now you can start rebuilding everything. Place the 2 plungers in the hole and put the rubber cover back over the top the right way up. Rest the circuit board back down on top making sure to locate it correctly. Refit the plastic cover and the 2 screws per side. Once both sides are done, refit to the plastic trim piece and clip it back onto your steering wheel gently with light pressure to push the locating pins back into place. Dont forget to reattach the DSG paddle plugs and then refit your airbag plug and steering control plug before refitting the airbag into the steering wheel - push the airbag till you hear the click of both sides of the clips re-engaging. Refit the trim piece behind the steering wheel now starting closest to the dashboard this time. Reconnect the battery now and start the car. You will have a dashboard full of errors at this point - dont panic - just slowly turn the steering wheel lock to lock twice then restart the car again, all errors should be gone. Congrats - you are done, hard work paid off and saved yourself the price of a new set of controls at £250!!!
  11. Yes, i sent it already to dealer and with that info they will try to handle my case. So even if i dont have to install sw by myself this forum saved me anyway with TPI file🙂
  12. We could just get my wifes MKI Fiat Panda in our garage, which was built by the first owner of our house in 1946, to keep their Austin 7. Actually, I should add I had to climb through the hatchback to get out, having left the garage doors open! Oh yeah, there’s an inspection pit in there too! I’d love to have a double garage to keep our 280, where I could store and clean it, however the cost would be prohibitive I suspect. Does anyone know the cost estimate of a concrete brick garage with a corrugated roof?
  13. Yes, you can go straight from 1896 to 1941. Ask @varooom for the link.
  14. Lets go! Now really worried about battery 😄 but obdeleven showed good health so lets hope ✌️
  15. Not with the increasing number of faults that were flagging up, all went smoothly, all of the items flagged up as OK. Waited a while tapped resume and after about 60s all came back online, just got one error which I hope is temporary 🤞 That's regarding servicing see pic.

I think i must be very lucky. I ordered a VRS TSI DSG Estate in special order Velvet red on 24.3.23 and was quoted a delivery time of 10-14 weeks. Just had a call from Marshalls in Barnstaple to say that car arrives with them tomorrow and i am collecting it on Friday!! Tim Hart at the dealership has been excellent in keeping me informed - 14 weeks from order to collection. I will post a picture on Friday. Happy and lucky i think.
  17. Just doing it now, the bloody system is driving me crazy today 7 restarts with multiple faults and I can't put up with it anymore. Parking fault Hill start fault Maneuver fault Reversing camera frozen.
  18. To be fair, not sure it is in the owner manual (like fuse ratings are not listed either) So this came from workshop manuals, handy to have. erWin Skoda and 1hr for about 7 Euro will get this if needed.
  19. Its now fixed! They eventually fitted a new sensor which made the issue go away , but did not charge me, which I cannot argue with. Whether the new battery highlighted an issue that was imminent? Thanks again for all the help.
  20. My feedback: all good! Driven the car a few times since the update and all seems fine. Update took me about 20 mins. Many thanks @varooom👍🏻
  21. Plug in the USB before you start the ignition. Report back if it works.
  22. Very likely. Fault codes should tell which one.
  23. If it's an adapter which has more than one lead or port, it won't be. I've tried to use one, the way the system is programmed doesn't allow hubs to be used, which is rather pathetic IMO. I bought a 16gb usb c drive for £10 or £12, just for this purpose.

    A few recent random pics
  25. Thanks for the responses. My insurance don’t cover it. If I get the new key from Skoda they automatically disable the missing key as they give the current keys a new code.
  26. Oh yes, I've observed this with Leaf. Charging to 100% seems to use more energy from charge point than stopping at 80%. I've not got enough data on the MY to say either way. There is also the design of the inverter. I've heard people say Renault Zoe are super inefficient at low charge rates because it has 3 large 32 amp inverters. Whereas Tesla (and probably other cars) that can only charge at 11 kW has 3 smaller 16 amp inverters. So its efficiency charging at 16 amp is better than Zoe. But either way, it's single digit, at most 12%, efficiency loss for charging. Compared to 24% hydrogen electrolysis and then 46% fuel cell. Until we have unlimited power, it's critical we make full use of every Wh generated.

I finally received my VRS hybrid on Friday 16th June. Amazing car and really happy with it. Ordered in Septermber 2021 with various build dates getting knocked back. Was given a build date of August 23 before it moved forward to actually getting built in May 23. Things are moving, I'm glad I waited as got a fantastic car for a great price in today's economy.
  28. Update done yesterday without any problem. Since then not a single restart of the infotainment in some 6-7 short journeys I had. Until the update, it was about 50:50 chance of reboot right after starting a car. It's probably still early to be 100% sure, but it seems the problem is finally solved! Thank you varooom!
  29. Ditto. Our place was new when we moved in in 1986 & has a single attached garage. I just about managed to get my wife's Mk1 Seat Ibiza in it when we first moved in & like you had to climb out the hatch to get out. She refused to put it in the garage & we've never had a car in it ever since. Nowadays it's my storage area come shed come workshop & is so rammed with tools, appliances, push & E-bikes, lawnmower, floor to ceiling racking, workbenches &, most recently, a wall mounted Solar inverter & battery that you can only just about walk down the middle of it. As for the cost for a brick garage have a look below. 🤑🤑🤑
  30. Tried that, no result. This is the newest, never heard of enything else, MIB replacement again... But this second dealer might help, i'll wait for now.
  31. An update on this topic: I seem to have mangled the ABS magnetic ring when putting the axle back into the bearing housing (the damage was pretty obvious when I removed the bearing assembly). A new bearing assembly did the job.
  32. That's precisely what mine said. Installed fine today after being left alone for the night. I couldn't care less about the in-car manual, but the notification popping up at every start annoyed me.
  33. The manuals should install once it's made a deep cycle, it will fail each time if you just step out of the car for a few minutes. I learned that myself during the last two days. Let it sit overnight and try again tomorrow. Is it giving you the code saying "ERR_1601_DM_IN"?
  34. My two cents: My MK4 MY22 (December 2022) Octavia only had the random reboots of infotainment and no other issues (1898 Software, H58 Hardware versions) Soi decided to proceed with the update on my own and I successfully installed it just few mins ago in). The whole process took 5mins for MCU, 5mins for CPU and around 3-4mins for the rest. I turned off start/stop, turned on ignition and waited till it finished. I used a usb-c to usb-a hub since i did not have a type-c memory stick. Tomorrow i will test drive it and post my results Thanks everyone for tips and tricks and especially @varoom for sharing the update.
  35. @TheWanderer I suspect after the car has gone into a deep sleep mode, that these final items will be fixed and updated. A few mins with the engine on will replace your battery State of Charge (might be best to do this now before bed)
  36. Got a servicing error and manuals are missing, hopefully they will get an update and clear themselves. But everything else seems to be working fine, haven't tested with my phone & AA yet though.
  37. You reset it after having ensured the pressures are correct by pressing and holding the TPMS button while driving in a straight line, it should give a confirmation "bong" and the light go out if accepted. Given your having driven over a pothole I'm fairly convinced you will have cracked the magnet in the NSR ABS sensor, I have just replaced mine after having put up with the exact same symptoms for several months eventually losing all ABS, ASR, TPMS and whatever else functions, dashboard lit up like a christmas tree, I had clipped a kerb with the exact same wheel as you which takes some doing given as we drive on the other side of the road here! Sensor replaced and everything back to normality, they are dirt cheap, about €2.50 from Ali-Express, €10 from Ebay or add several zeros from Skoda! Very very easy to replace, you dont even need to jack up the car but it will make life easier if you do and remove the wheel.
  38. You couldn't wait for 20th of July then, good luck... 🤞
  39. Nothing beyond 0480 yet.
  40. Eventually a RECALL letter has arrived from Vauxhall. Months after the issue has been known. The car had the Non Starting issue which was unrelated seemingly but while it was at the Vauxhall main dealer for repair they never carried out this recall action. Car due into the dealership on 10th July for the MOT & this recall action. ARNOLD CLARK Scotland still has no Automatic gearbox Courtesy cars so are supposedly arranging for Motability to provide a Hire car which is RAC that actually arrange it. So back to this fiasco, and waiting to see how it pans out and if arrangements go smoothly. So ARNOLD CLARK SCOTLAND has no EV,s available for customers with EV,s going in for work, this includes those with lease cars from MOTABILITY. Not even ICE Automatics. What a hopeless set up. All the stuff on going ELECTRIC, trained staff and no doubt lots of public money goes their way in the promotion of EV,s and their Innovation Centre in Glasgow. Genius. All about the experience. Try before you buy, and then if your car needs to be in for repair or work you might need to walk, cycle, use public transport or get a manual courtesy car because EV is the future & the infrastructure as Arnold Clark are involved is about Sales and not After sales. A good question might be. Do ARNOLD CLARK have EV,s as Courtesy cars if i get an EV from you but i need a Courtesy Car anytime? Or even a PHEV and need an Automatic.
  41. YOu have same unit as I had in my Fabia MY15 - 5Q0035820. You can have it repalced with Bolero 5Q0035842x / 565035842 or Amundsen 5Q0035874x / 565035874. The screen does NOT have to be replaced, just the reader. I can deliver such unit in Plug&Play version, if you are interested pls contact me on PM.
  42. As @TheWanderer has put it perfectly, from me or @Rainesh And of course apply at own risk, though as you can see members are providing excellent feedback, example being @Bloembol just above, and several others with longer time now with 1941 loaded.
  43. Yes it was the battery. It was only holding 10 volts.
  44. As you can see below, both the 300x12mm and 310x22mm rear brake discs on the Superb MK3 and Kodiaq use the same rear brake pads. The rear brake pads on Skodas don't use wear indications. The 300x12mm are solid rear brake discs. The 310x22mm are ventilated rear brake discs. Superb MK3 and Kodiaq 300x12mm rear brake discs 1KU 2EM (ATE brake system) 310x22mm rear brake disc 1KJ 1KZ 2ER (ATE brake system) TRW GDB1957 rear brake pads (without wear indicator) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334867475896
  45. I assume the 5th door is the boot? So yes I've had this happen to me. Fails to open, walk out of range, walk back & it works. Occasionally touching a rear door sensor fails to lock car too.
  46. As both myself and Lady Munch have birthdays in May we got to discussing holidays and where we would like to be for our respective birth dates. She has always wanted to see Venice and I just adore Croatia and just so happen to have a friend who is the head of tourism is Split. Mrs has never been to Croatia so we started looking at how we could cover both dates, 3rd and 19th in two different countries. Sure we could fly in to either but that left 16 days between dates... What to do within those dates? Sittin on a beach is just purgatory for both of us.. Rather be out exploring the locality. Pompeii? yeah... ! Florence...? Yeah! Venice... Fk Yeah! Then she quipped that she has always wanted to see Lake Bled. I was quite happy with Split, Plitvice lakes, and yes, Slovenia. I must add at this point I have done all the aforementioned but this was some 30 years ago on a 3 month tour of Europe on 2 wheels! Looking at car hire costs it quickly became obvious that it was not going to be cheap to cover the destinations we listed with flights, hotels and car hire so I said... Beggar that (something like that) I'll drive it! One last tour whilst I still can and we take a month out of life and go see... What can go wrong??? Here we are, all planned and we simply cannot wait for the 27th April to begin our tour. Leeds-Hull Hull-Rotterdam Rotterdam-Luxembourg- overnight Luxembourg-Nuremburg (Joe Bonamassa Concert) - overnight Nuremburg-Liechtenstein- overnight Liechtenstein- Venice via the San Bernardino Pass Venice 3 nights Venice-Florence 2 nights Florence- outside Naples in the mountains 3 nights Naples-Tavullia (VR46) overnight Tavullia-Ancona for the night sail to Split. Split... 8 days of beer, sunshine and zero driving! Trips to Hvar, Brak, some deep sea fishing etc and my BD. Split-Plitvice lakes-overnight. Plitvice-Lake bled-2 nights Lake Bled- Vienna-overnight Vienna-Prague-overnight Prague-Dresden-2 nights Dresden-Hannover-overnight Hannover-Amsterdam-overnight Amsterdam-Rotterdam Home. Overnights include getting there in plenty of time to sightsee and plenty of time for a civilised departure to the next destination. If we have hiccup, so what. We sleep in the car lol We will be uploading pics and videos of our adventure so stay tuned.
