  1. I was defending you!!!!!! You said Lol-Lol said My reply was to convey that in a working day they would be racking up the miles here, there and everywhere, not driving from Dundee to John O Groats, and even if they did they would have to do the return journey.
  2. Yeah, the GPS antenna is part of the sharkfin on the roof. They can suffer from water ingress... Easiest/cheapest fix is to buy an aftermarket GPS puck with a fakra connector and try that. I think they are less than a tenner and will at least confirm the fault
  3. Not much happening with the Fab, used if a few times for some random trips out. it’s in for detailing next week with a ceramic coating, so should be looking it’s best ever
  4. When you do a working day a few hundred miles north or away in any direction it is usual to return to where you came from or might stay. It is known as a return journey when ever it is done. I did wonder about @lol-lolquoting what i posted. & if going pretty direct it is 254 miles, so that extra 50 miles is an other hour. But then i never mentioned John O' Groats just a few hundred miles north. I know what a few is and it is usually more than 2. The PodPoint are at Tesco in Wick or Thurso & to the west @ Ullapool or across on the islands. .
  5. Status update - getting this moved on the 22nd to my best mate's. Sorted.
  6. Bloody mobile phone, I have no idea how that other post from the 10th got there, give me a proper computer and keyboard any day ☺️
  7. Sacre bleu mon ami, zut alore. Avez vous un cuppa ?
  8. I did not pronounce it, i typed a typo.
  9. My gut feeling is that JR meant to say does not just consist of driving A to B. WTF happened to that charge plug!? Doesn't look like vandal, probably dropped on the ground and the hard plastic shattered.
  10. Take it to a trusted independent and get them to inspect the cambelt and advise accordingly. The "If in doubt, change it." approach is costly, but does offer reassurance.
  11. As a final update, anyone with a MKIII with a beige interior who has a mark on their seating and wants to buy perfectly matched dye, if they place a custom mix order with Gliptone, then call John Severn on 01244 888658 Option 1 and tell John that you want the colour he mixed for order number 19117, that’ll tell him the correct mix specification.
  12. SWARCO might well have Regional Techs, not all the EV Charger companies have maintenance staff all over the country. http://thecourier.co.uk/fp/lifestyle/2480461/sponsored-smart-charging-dindee-articleisfree @J.R.are you joking? Obviously it does for many people. & with EV,s and needing to use Rapid Charging in Highland Region at chargers Administered by CPS, even though you work for PodPoint or others. Past Aviemore, past Inverness, Tain, Wick etc etc. maybe doing several jobs and getting far North, maybe an over nighter and maybe not. Charging maybe while working or maybe having to commission a charger before actually being able to use it. ??? Do you think these National Companies / International Companies have Depots and Maintenance Workers all over Scotland and for Inverness & North of there they are based / living in Inverness or North of there? *RWD and not even All Season tyres on the vehicle or 22 kW AC Charging.) The Highland Region Council Public chargers / 50 kW are 70 pence a kWh and not plentiful. It was even more of a journey for a mate that was a Service Tech on Chargers that had a 250 mile long area to cover, but then no way would he have an EV to do it. He lived 50 miles south of the start of the area he had to cover going north. Edinburgh City Council required contractors like MITIE to have EV,s and put a 30 minute max charge time on the Public chargers. Some tradespeople / drivers had to come from home to Edinburgh to work, charge their 50 kWh vans or even 75 kwh and then work and then charge before heading home because they do not live in Edinburgh or the area or have home chargers. I know drivers that work in South Ayrshire that live quite a bit away and charge in East Ayrshire in the morning, and charge in South Ayrshire maybe at lunch time and again in East Ayrshire before going home at the end of the day. OK for 'Local Vehicles with Local Charging' and not venturing very far in there region, that is not how it is for every driver / worker in Scotland that gets landed with a EV works vehicle. Van or Car. If they can not get on the Rapid it is good if they can charge at 22 kW AC. Sadly some will go on these 22 / 43 kW AC chargers and hog them for hours and just get 7 or 11 kW AC and stop those that need the 22 or 43 AC because that is their Rapid Charging.
  13. More likely an antenna issue
  14. The entire seat base and bolsters, together with the centre section of the squab and bolsters are leather. The top of the squab, where a logo is embossed, or stitched on post Aug 16 cars, plus the squab sides, the top and backs are leatherette… whoops, sorry… “artificial leather”! I now know this as John Severn, the guy who mixes the dye at Gliptone gave me a great tip; if you press your finger nail into the seat firmly (NOT hard) and creases form into the indentation, it’s leather. Leatherette looks like when you push your finger into a balloon, so there’s no creasing which, given its basically plastic-coated fabric, makes sense. Yes, the dye will work equally well on the leatherette/vegan leather/NuLuxe/SofText/SensaTec/MB-tex/blah, blah… 👍🏻
  15. The 1.2L engine in the Mk 111 Fabia is a dry belt. There is only one bolt plus some clips to remove the top cover over the belt for belt inspection. I do not know of any VAG engine with other than the conventional dry belt.
  16. EV6 GT is limited at about 160-170mph and I take your point about many being fast to 70 and it being over. just looked at the m5 price… you could get an EV and a fun ICE and still have change. When did the prices go north of £100k 😮😮😮
  17. I was pretty much thinking on new cars and be sure to take the Extended Warranty years before the car is registered if ordering one.
  18. Its good that you felt the temperature of the discs, I think we can now rule out uncommanded brake actuation which probably would have an ABS block failure.
  19. So one battery fire and four other cars parked in close proximity, a rubbish truck fire due to some dumbass putting batteries in their waste and an e-scooter battery fire. Was it a cheap Chinese import. I note all the stories were from the Daily Fail - a 'newspaper' that, like others, seems to have an agenda against EV cars. Scaremongers that lot. Not even fit to be used as a Wikipedia citation.
  20. The Recycling facility at Perth Scotland almost under the Friarton bridge had an explosion and sadly someone died. This is the 3rd fire there. This is near to the large body repair establishments. The last time the M90 was closed for hours. Nothing to do with Electric Vehicles though, not even any suggestion of it. Nothing to see, move right along. Well not while the bridge is closed if there is another fire. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-64868337

Hiya to all on Briskoda. I've Just moved from an Audi A1 to a 2020 Skoda Scala SEL in race blue. It;s got 21k on the clock and my wife and I are extremely pleased with it.
  22. Hi It was put in for a full service, so yeah air filter was replaced, not sure if they checked the spark plugs, but I'm pretty sure they weren't replaced by the look of them. No fuel treatment, offered but refused.
  23. I've had worse than that repaired before & looking like new. That said it's one way of getting a full size spare!
  24. Yeah, the post that you responded to was an old one from the 10th and somehow the mobile phone managed to insert it into the reply I did to @toot
  25. Dundee to John O'Groats, just over 200 miles isn't it, not exactly "a few" hundreds miles ? It is not like Berwick to Lands End , now that is a few hundred miles ie over 550 miles !
  26. @wyx087Sorry if you thought i meant it only has 11 kW AC charging and not DC charging. It has DC charging. It only has onboard 11kW AC with that one for AC charging not 22 kW AC. It has to do working days of a few hundred miles North of Dundee where it has to use AC charging and DC and where there might be no PodPoint available because there is not that many nd they can be needing repaired.
  27. May i present you my cheap bandaid fix.. First of all, going on a few assumptions here, first is that the mechatronic unit has been leaking slowly since day 1 of replacement, then that the garage cowboys used tiger seal instead of the real gasket that should be used. I'm assuming that because that's exactly what happened to mine. Now, if you can remove the battery, battery tray and pull the air filter box to the side enough, you'll see the breather black cap on the mechatronic. Assorted torx bits and set of sockets with extension bar needed. Once you find the right torx and hex socket they're good for the whole job. Oh and a set of pliers. That cap comes off harder than expected My unit started throwing faults at around 600ml (measured left in unit) out of 1L, so 400ml of "MVCHF" comma brand central hydraulic oil from halfords will set you good. It's £10 or so, chf11s spec so matches oem. The little valve is around 8-10mm outside diameter and 5mm inside diameter, syringe or funnel with a hose should work just fine to top it back up. If you want to do it the proper way, assuming it's a 1.2tsi, starter motor needs to come off, so don't bother, just use the breather hole and slowly pour in what you need, and if it stops shake the hose to force a bubble out. I'm doing this for the past year and a half and 50.000 miles. Once topped up it's trouble free for half a year or more, depending on gasket gods mood that season
  28. Can’t go wrong with Milltek. https://www.millteksport.com/products/skoda/octavia/5e-2013-present.html?p=1&product_list_limit=48 Can filter Mk3/4, Petrol/Diesel, OPF/GPF or non OPF/GPF models at the bottom of the page. Go with a resonated system if you don’t want it to be too intrusive. I’d recommend watching a few videos or better still see if anyone local has a res/non-res system fitted to their car and would be happy to take you out for a spin.

I can't remember, which oil, I used when I did it and wrote the 'How to' guide, but 2 other brands also regularly pop up when you look for DQ250 oil: Mann Oil / VAICO.
  30. I was sure I've seen the taxi versions on rapid charger. Podpoint guide suggests it has both CCS and Chademo!? https://pod-point.com/guides/vehicles/levc/2019/tx
  31. Another option could be 205/65R16 fitted to 6.5Jx16 ET33 5/112 57.1 rims (from VW Tiguan MK1). One benefit of the 205/65R16 fitted to a 6.5J rim, is that it should fit flush in the spare wheel well without raising the carpet. This is because a 205/65R16 tyre fitted to a 6.5J rim has an actual inflated width of about 215mm. 215mm is about the widest tyre that you can fit in the spare wheel well on the Superb MK3 without raising the carpet. Note that the actual inflated width of a tyre always depends on the width of the rim to which it is fitted. For example, if you were to fit a 205/65R16 to a narrower 6J rim the actual inflated tyre width would be about 6mm less, ie. 209mm vs 215mm. Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 205/65R16 95H (3PMSF) (winter tyre) https://www.camskill.co.uk/m96b0s8654p197748/Bridgestone_Tyres_Winter_Snow_Car_Bridgestone_Blizzak_LM005_205_65_R16_95H_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_C_Wet_Grip%3A_A_NoiseClass%3A_B_Noise%3A_71dB Hankook Kinergy H750 205/65R16 95H (3PMSF) (all-season tyre) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Hankook/Kinergy-4S-H750/205-65-R16-95H-4PR-SBL/R-437681 Alcar 9922 6.5Jx16 ET33 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from VW Tiguan MK1) https://www.oponeo.pl/felga-stalowa/alcar-kfz-9922#23490674
  32. When on standard tyre sizes, the speedo usually over-reads. So when the speedo shows 100km/h the actual road speed might only be 97km/h. Fitting 215/60R17 might mean that when the speedo shows 100km/h the actual road speed might also be 100km/h. So by fitting a slightly oversize tyre you might find that the speedo becomes more accurate, not less accurate. It's best to check using GPS. 215/60R17 should be slightly more comfortable than 215/55R17. 215/60R17 will increase the car's ride height by about 10mm compared to 215/55R17, which should help in deep snow as the car won't be having to push as much snow out of the way. Although 215/60R17 has slightly more sidewall height than 215/55R17, it is still a high performance tyre. An alternative to 215/60R17 is 215/65R16. Now 215/60R17 is a lower profile tyre than 215/65R16, so should have slightly better cornering performance. A lot will depend on the tyres that you choose. Good tyres equals good performance. Have you considered all-season tyres, such as the very latest Continental AllSeasonContact 2. Although the performance might not be quite as good as winter tyres below 0 degrees Centigrade, the performance above 0 degrees Centigrade such as cold rain may be better. Bear in mind that all-season tyres have the 3PMSF symbol, so are officially winter rated...and good all-season tyres have performance in cold weather (below about 7 degrees Centigrade) that is much closer to the performance of a winter tyre than a summer tyre. Continental AllSeasonContact 2 215/60R17 96H (3PMSF) (all-season tyre) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/product/Continental/60/17/D-127977 If you're looking for cheap rims, 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 steel rims (from Kodiaq) could be used instead of the 6.5Jx17 ET41 5/112 57.1 (from Superb MK3). The 3mm reduced offset will move the centre of the tyre 3mm further out in the wheelarch, giving a slightly more sporty look...and 3mm isn't a significant difference IMHO. Alloy rims from the Kodiaq are also available in 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 Alcar 9021 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 (from Kodiaq) https://www.oponeo.de/stahlfelge/alcar-kfz-9021#23379156
  33. As @Carlston says. The B6/8 is a monotube design. This design allows for the valves to be bigger diameter which offers greater performance. The oil volume is also greater which offers a larger potential heat capacity. The way Bilstein design them is with high pressure gas above the sealed oil volume. It help prevent cavitation in the oil. This is partly what people describe when talking about them being harder. It's a combination of high pressure and slower damping. I can reccomend them as a straight swap with stock height or with lowering springs. They are a great improvement over the standard suspension.
  34. The thing is about the 7 year old car and someone at a dealership saying no longer any need to replace the timing belt is fair enough. But then if they think they will realise that until July that car had not been serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, guidelines, schedule or specifications. Again fair enough, but these dealerships were selling Skoda Approved Used cars with Full Main Dealer Service histories with a Warranty just not serviced to the blah blah blah / guidelines. Now they are full of bright ideas while 3 months ago they trotted out the same old 5 year guff.
  35. Yesterday I showed this to a reception guy in the workshop. Guess what his reaction was? He saw such thing for the first time and was asking me where did I get it
  36. Directional is probably a strong word... They are very simple things. Quick sketch: So yes, it fitted 'upside down', both the circuit and new accessory will be drawing power through the original fuse. It 'could' cause nuisance tripping but given how much power a dash cam uses, it's quite unlikely to cause any issues. If you remove the original fuse and the accessory still works, you got it right. If you remove the original fuse and the accessory doesn't work, you got it wrong. Simples If you do want to use a multimeter, remove the original fuse and the tap, then see which of the fuse connectors on the board has 12v. That'll confirm which side is power...
  37. I'm really not interested in steering sharpness or sporty driving by any stretch of the imagination, my time is spent driving up and down the UK road network, I'm a pretty gentle driver but I do cover quite a few miles and they get good reviews for longevity which is important to me so we'll see how long they last. My last car had Pirelli Scorpion Verde which lasted 40k on the front and considerably more miles on the rear so hoping for similar wear rate.
  38. Have the same 2.0 TSI MY2020 build car that had the same problem about 12 months ago. Also noticed that on mine when the CC stopped working the horn did as well, Recorded the fault when it occurred ( as requested by Skoda dealer) and they replaced a module in the steering column under warranty, Sorry not too technical just said replaced switch on the receipt. To date I have not had any repeats and my CC ( and horn) are working perfectly Hope this helps
  39. As above. It’s a looped system so the power etc piggy backs from the front with a connector in the b pillar. You’ll need to check the loom and connector block. Be sure to remove interior from the top down or you’ll snap all lugs, etc.
  40. A few photos from a recent holiday in Cornwall.
  41. My beauty 2.0 TDI SE L Executive 2016.
  42. Realized that pic was a bit small
  43. Got a Superb a few weeks back! Previously owned Octavia 4x4 Estate, then Octavia Scout over two generations. Spent time away from Skoda in Audi TT Quattro (didn't need the space) but now with a young child enjoying the space and comfort of the Superb.
  44. This is mine last week, frim 150hp to 180hp. It feels like the car is way lighter 😃
  45. I have just remapped my 2019 150 tdi. The figures from all the remap companys will tel you that the car will end up with 185 - 190 hp and 420-430 nm........so actually, slightly more powerful than the 190 version, but I find it is not as powerful as the std 190. The standard 190 has a bigger turbo and higher spec injectors . I ran a 190 for almost 4 years and this January chopped it in against a 150, within 24 hours I had the 150 remapped.........it is definitely worth doing....definitely. But you won't have a faster car than a 190. I find with the remapped 150, I don't really have to rev it past 3k because the torque is so strong now. At motorway speeds (120 kmh in Ireland) a little dab on the throttle will drop the car to 6th gear and the roll on grunt is very impressive. Did I mention it's worth doing !!
