  1. Saw this Freightliner (FLD?) on the road today. Took it through the windscreen while sat at a four way. Lots of US old timers out and about here (holiday).
  2. Got a pair of gas struts for the bonnet £26 including all required fittings. Took all of 5 minutes to do. No more lifting the bonnet.
  3. I am so sorry I did not post anything for a while...I had other things to do and I paused the "Favorit 1.8T AGU Swap" project. THE PROJECT IS NOW RESUMED!!!😁 Since the last time I adapted Škoda Superb Mk1 (3U, 2.8 V6) gauge cluster on Bosch M3.8 ECU from my 1.8T AGU. Bosch ME3.8 does NOT have CAN communication with the gauge cluster, so I made my own CAN network for the cluster. I enabled some functions, converted PWM RPM signal from M3.8 to CAN network on Superb cluster. The Superb cluster is also adapted to fit in a Felicia dashboard. I also changed the color of the cluster backlight. Here are some pictures of the wiring loom to use the Superb cluster on Felicia cabin wiring loom without any cutting of the existing wires.
  4. Not quite 12 months since the last update but the best part of... sorry! The car is out and about, albeit doing only special journeys, shows and evening drives to still try and run the new engine in, but slow progress is better than no progress right? I did book onto the Skoda Owners Club "Skodafest 2025" day held this year again at Chetwynd Deer Park in Shropshire, a mere hour from home. Bear in mind the lovely weather the UK had had the previous many weeks, the show day started off wet. So off we set, in the rain, wincing at every puddle and headed towards Newport. Luckily as we got into Newport the skies brightened and we chanced across a Shell garage with a snow foam jet wash, so a quick blast off of what was quite a grubby car saw it at least a bit cleaner. Into the show and I dried the car, cleaned inside the wheels (bloody stupid idea yellow wheels, grumble grumble) and the car looked great. The sun even came out for the majority of the afternoon and i met a number of people off here who recognised the car and came to say hi. There were prizes being awarded on the day for Best Car Prior to 1994, Best Car Post 1994 and Best in Show overall. Consider me humbled to be called up to be awarded Best in Show. Honestly my vote had gone to an immaculate Favorit in Blue that was simply beautiful, a true classic if ever there was one. So yeah, there we go, an update and a trophy. Dunno what else to say really, apart from thank you. Photos to follow.
  5. Agree - brilliant forum. Was on it back in 2009/2013 when I had my Fabia VRs and when I came back to the brand this was the first place I needed to come to. Simple as.
  6. As others have said, for all the reasons to leave, the update is certainly a weird one. I find SEATCupra, VWvortex and the rest quite difficult to navigate, in contrast to Briskoda. People here are very active and, with the exception of a few, very friendly, helpful and supportive. Certainly, there is a wealth of information, going back to the mid 00s. All I'll say is, the UP! site has under 100k replies in total. On Briskoda, the Octavia section alone has 1,300,000. People vote with their feet. At least Mr Happy is their problem now - good riddance. FWIW, I think @Dean, @ColinD and the others do a fantastic job.
  7. Just to finish off, it was an ABS wheel speed sensor. Apparently when they fail they set off the other warning lights as well. Thanks for all of the advice above.
  8. A few from this evening............
  9. So I can finally report that it worked! My 2018 Fabia SE 1.0 MPI now has cruise control! The dealers only charged me for the time they spent on coding it rather than the flat rate and £20 for a new authorisation code. Hats off to Skoda stirling. They were reluctant to do it because thier order system said my car and the CC upgrade were incompatible. Glad I persevered. Thanks all for the help and guidance.
  10. I'm never far from a Picnic Chair. Or indeed a Picnic.
  11. It's common to most cars. 70mph on my Octavia is 67mph on Waze. Trucks have pretty accurate speedos because of the tacho.
  12. Super service, drained the tank flushed. put in a couple of gallons checked the fuel line which was good and clean. I refilled the tank with petrol and drove home he followed me until I turned off. A load off my mind. Worth another mention if I may, www.wrongfuelassistence.net 07456 229 071 If I had, had trouble I would have been alerted! but it just went in as normal. Perhaps Skoda opted for a universal fuel tank neck?? The Garage is an ESSO station, the Diesel came from a Supreme pump.
  13. The people who're going to drain the tank should advise you more comprehensively, but brim it with petrol, and top up with 2 or 3 gallons until you've effectively filled the tank from empty once, then run it to the reserve and refill. Expect some relatively smoky starts until this is complete.

Genuine vcds is £300 for 10 vin or £500 for unlimited locally, or, straight from ross tech, 300 dollars for 10 vin and 169 dollars for online upgrade to unlimited. That's £350 before tax and duty or £425 with local shipping and online upgrade A decent generic elm obd2 bluetooth dongle that can access all modules of the car is £30, car scanner android app is £5. I obviously recommend vcds but can't deny a bluetooth dongle with the right app has done it's job and is way more portable for me

Brands aside, as long as the oil you use meets the VW specification (I.E. 508 00) then you'll be fine. Apparently there is a difference between specification grade oil and 'suitable for' so do bear that in mind.
  16. Nice - I must admit, having a 15 year old Golf and a Superb estate, both with bonnet struts - I'm forever surprised by how much the Karoq bonnet weighs and the effort required to lift it..........
  17. @Warrior193 Oop North in Scotland you will see plenty mile markers for Officers checking. Oop North in Scotland there was a Pilot Scheme with ZERO over speed tolerances & and Education before financial penalties. No taking an Education Course instead of prosecution in Scotland by a company run by an Ex Chief Constable or 3 making a nice little earner. The Advice from the Chief Constables (England Wales) of the 10% plus 2 MPH is certainly not to be trusted in certain areas. As to the 2 miles over, is that maybe about how accurate what ever system is operating. I have had plenty bang to right caught speeding incidents, and i am always careful as far as camera vans go. Average Speed camera routes i use regularly i watch what i am averaging at, and that can be slower than HGV,s from Ireland or Coaches. There are several locations where i join after a camera or leave before the next camera. I wonder sometimes about others that have passed the camera before me and go on past the next one at many MPH over the speed limit. Maybe they think if they see someone that might be local ignoring the limit they can. Like ones that think the posties know. ........................ 10 years ago, how time flies. As did Camera Safety Partnership vans between locations. I reported one that tailgated me and when let past went over the Commercial Vehicle limit. Turned out they have no Tacho. Police Inspector that replied who headed the Tayside Safety Partnership claimed it was Not in Service and a Technician was road testing it.
  18. I'd suggest a little caution if proposing to exceed limit by 2MPH through cameras - I know there's supposed to be an 'allowance' plus a percentage - but I've also seen claims of penalties being imposed at 2 - 3MPH over!
  19. Tyre tread wear, a different tyre brand in identical size to original fitting or even changes in tyre pressures can cause small changes to speedo calibration. Remember that the indirect TPMS uses the change in tyre rotation speed to monitor pressures. I recall when there used to be measured mile markers on roadsides to allow drivers to check speedo calibration - can't say I've seen one for a very long time! I consider it a very good idea to occasionally check the calibration in correct conditions.

I’ve tested this a fair bit over the past 10 years and for me personally it makes so little difference on my usual routes as to be not worth doing. On longer holiday motorway runs the cars doing 40+mpg so not worth using it.
  21. All waxes are prone to this as they get older. It's drying out. Have a look to see if you can find out what solvent is used in the formulation of the wax. If you can get some of the solvent add a tiny amount to the wax, heat up to soften it and then mix thoroughly. This should restore the paste consistency.
  22. U need to connect the Negative end of the battery charger to the car chassis, not the negative terminal!!
  23. Iv had the dpf and co all cleaned out so that's all fine just the oil
  24. Just so we care clear, most professional gearbox re-manufacturers recommend the following for 7 speed DQ200 transmissions. "Stop-and-Go Traffic: The DSG7 dry clutch system is particularly susceptible to overheating in frequent stop-and-go traffic. Prolonged use in these conditions can lead to premature wear of the clutch packs. Avoid heavy traffic or allow the gearbox to cool during long stops by shifting into neutral to mitigate this."
  25. Ionity are starting to get more competitive but not near Tesla yet. Electroverse tends to skew my view a little as I get the IOG discount on Ionity. Just did a little checking, Tesla have 194 SC sites in UK, so 116 open to all means more than half are available for general use. They must be putting pressure on the other networks with their pricing. It'll be interesting to see what happens on Anglesey with regards pricing. The new SC site is 53p/kWh IIRC and the majority of other rapids on the island are 70+p/kWh. As its a small place, I wonder if the existing rapids will suffer reduced volumes due to the Tesla chargers being easy to get to? Will this force the council (majority of rapids provided by them) to reduce prices?
  26. Judder, injectors not working dirty fuel or wrong fuel?
  27. 100% get it scanned then write down all codes if it doesn’t have a timestamp (does if it’s vcds at least others should be the same), clear codes, continue driving until it happens again then rescan. To me sounds spark or fuelling issue but only a wild guess
  28. How did you manage this? I thought diesel pump nozzles were bigger diameter and don't fit?
  29. That's pretty typical, if you have a good GPS lock on the sat nav.
  30. Tesla have opened more Supercharger sites in the past week. All open for non-Tesla. Anglesey (Gaerwen) 12, Swindon 16 and Faversham 16. Eurocentral in Glasgow has reopened with 18 stalls. There are now 116 SC sites open to all, making Tesla one of the largest and cheapest CPOs.

@Nab93 Any issue is related to your TDI,s very excessive oil use. The diagnosis needs done by a qualified and competent technician or mechanic. You were speaking about the oil pump yesterday. Something is very wrong with your engine. It runs on Heavy Oil / Derv and Engine oil it seems.

+1 Genuine VCDS is not cheap at all. 70 euro for unlimited vcds!!! 30 pound for the dongle and 5 pound for the app!!! surely can't b genuine.
  33. Ordered the first week in March, picked up 27th May, attached photo shows its dirty already! Elroq85 edition with Advanced pack in Graphite Grey.
  34. HEADING SHOULD BE OCTAVIA MK2 1.6 PETROL TIPTRONIC. I don't know how to edit it. Sorry.
  35. Once the tank is empty and filled with petrol again it should be fine. Might be a bit smokey if the car has been run after filling. The people coming to empty tank will keep you right. My old mum did similar but put petrol in her diesel. Got it emptied and refilled with diesel and no probs. I always thought that diesel nozzles wouldnt fit in a petrol? Fill the tank to the top so any diesel left will be very diluted. Alasdair
  36. Got the old one off, with predicted struggle. Secondary water pump shifted off it and tied up out of the way, then driveshaft off and out of the way. Wouldn't really be do-able without driveshaft shifting, and would be another step easier with front exhaust/cat section off but that's a mission of its own, so haven't done that. Pretty grubby, as expected.
  37. Glad all is well. Someone gave me the info when i had same issue. Enjoy your new Elroq.
  38. Have you saved the profile log in...i had similar issue. There is a save option in app under Biometric ID
  39. Quick answer - dry.

mine has just started doing this....very annoying. How long did they take to replace? were you given a temp car?
  41. Interesting, he popped back for a look around on may 9th... wonder does he miss us?
  42. Grand sunrise this morning 😎
  43. Flew over this morning - looked for a moment like it was taking our neighbours chimney pot with it!
  44. Lovely sunset this evening and The Moon and Venus were bright in the sky ✨
