  1. Just to come back and write about what i dod to the car in the end. In the end went with bilstein b8 shocks, kept the factory sportline springs and did audi tts bushings. I am blown away how much better the car feels after that, if i had known this i would have done it 5 years ago. Car now feels much more “sophisticated”, it is more compliant, rounds off bumps with ease, there is no more crashing from the suspension and it feels much more controled. I guess the harder bushings also made a steering feel a tiny bit more direct. These dampers are supposed to be “sport” option, but they made car feel better allround and I am more than happy with the results, I just hope they last more than the OEM dampers.
  2. I seriously am thinking that i will get a Dacia Spring on lease as a daily / local driving (Home charging) & buy a camper / day van for longer journeys / trips. A V6 maybe. Such as..
  3. Hello all. I have joined the forum after I found it while searching Google. I have owned my 2012 Superb Elegance for 10yrs and it has just turned 200 000 miles with no major issues, even still on the original clutch. It has been the best car we have owned in my 40yrs of motoring. Looking forward to being part of the forum. Pat.
  4. This little beauty did it - thanks for the input guys https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B1W3VLQK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
  5. Not a great pic half in the shade and not a particularly nice backdrop either. But it's a Chevvy Impala so thought I'd take a pic anyways.
  6. I see that Skoda now have started teasing the upcoming Epiq. Looks like that £17,000 that was the tease back when we were all younger is now £25,000 As usual with the VW Group they use their tame Publishers, Haymarket Media Group, Autocar / What car. Those that are selectively blind when Skoda launch vehicles with faults requiring visits again and again to dealers and will launch new ones while dealerships are giving appointment for warranty repairs, updates months away.
  7. Just looked at a VW group EV, CUPRA Born (just got a 2022 example and it is cracking car) as example of how they are being sold. April to June were offering £4500 deposit contribution and 0% July to Sept now offering £7000 deposit contribution and 4.9% Also get £500 charge credit or approx £1000 discount on installing a home charger They have also introduced a new Exclusive spec level, basically the mid spec V2 with a few options included as standard. So keeps it under £40k list price. Of course this is all smoke and mirrors, they could just sell it at £33k with no discount. Seems excessive amount of extra price and discount, would expect more like £36k with 3k deposit contribution. But does look like reasonable value at that price (and seriously undercuts the similar ID3 price). Makes Skoda EV sale offers look half hearted when compared.
  8. Lindsey Oil refinery in Lincolnshire goes in to administration. Lindsey supplies about 10% of UK fuel and after Grangemouth recent closure we will see if UK government props Lindsey refinery or lets it go under.......... Higher oil prices might be another boost for EV sales ?
  9. Micra is a 4M car, LEAF is a 4.5M car different segments. Don't know about the LEAF, which is clearly a C segment car when the Micra is a B segment car but the deals then and now are far better on EVs than they were and are on ICE cars. Just comparing RRP is a false comparison. My Zoe was £34K RRP in 2021 but after numerous discounts and subsidies the bottom line is what you pay per month so my Zoe has been £280 a month and with servicing and tyres for24k miles it has cost about £500 or about a tenner a month so still way under £300 a month and insurance has been quite cheap also. Fuel cost for 24k miles has been about £500 too so around £300 a month all in I would say. If a Mirca, or say a Clio would have cost less than £300 a month for lease cost, fuel, servicing and tyres I would be surprised. Lease would be £200 to £250 a month, fuel a good £60 a month servicing two to three times a Zoe EV, a couple of tyres for £200 like the Zoe. So at least £300 a month. One thing in favour of EVs is that companies seem to be happier to give Fuel cards out than EV charge RFIDs. Maybe as Fuel Cards are easier to check they are not being mis-used for other vehicles. Running a Dacia Sandero is probably cheap motoring and why it is one of the most popular cars bought. "The Dacia Sandero was the best-selling car in Europe in 2024, with309,392 units sold." https://media.dacia.com/record-market-share-for-dacia-in-2024-and-still-on-the-european-podium-for-retail-customers/

Brand new genuine alternator and auxiliary belt in April 2025 Loads of paperwork with previous MOT history and invoices for services and repairs. It has been a great, reliable family car for us over the last couple of years comfortably doing 20,000 miles per year without any issues. It doesn’t use any oil between services and has 4 matching Goodyear Vector all season tyres with plenty of life left in them. As you can see in the pictures it has started to rust in places and the suspension is strarting to show its age but overall it’s still a great car with the legendary 1.9tdi which returns superb MPG (we recently got 68mpg on a 4 hour trip to Scotland). MOT until MARCH ‘26 Briskoda price: £1200. Located near Leeds.

PHEV owners - Has anyone added the Convenience Plus pack to their car? I'm specifically looking for info re: Canton sound system. Where's the sub? Had a look at a PHEV today but couldn't see anything in the under floor boot tray ( where the load cover and cables reside ). I wasn't nterested in the particular car I saw today so didn't bother having a good look round, but stupid me didn't think to turn on the infotainment and see if there was actually a sub level in the equalizer setting. Brochures mention 12 speakers with the Canton system - I'm presuming that means 6 front door, 4 rear door, a centre and a sub, but not sure if this also applies to the PHEV model. Typically Skoda mount the sub in the spare wheel, but with no room for a spare in the PHEV, obviously that's not where it is.

  13. We don’t perform software updates remotely sorry. Something goes wrong and your module is potentially dead, even with DOIP it can take 30+ minutes. Additionally, we don’t work with clone tools
  14. 0075 isn’t the newest version.. the unit requires parameterisation once updated so it is not DIY. It also requires the bootloader to be flashed prior to updating It must be flashed using DOIP, otherwise you’re in for a 10+ hour flash for each update (there are multiple).
  15. A man of many words I see 😅 Welcome to brisky 👍
  16. This is a backup battery in the OCU unit. According to the workshop manual, the main battery should be charged for about two hours with the ignition on. Then run the diagnostics again and if the error persists, replace the battery in the OCU unit.
  17. What alloys do you have on? Having bought a second hand sportline 2.5 years old and 6k on the clock, I can see signs of minor damage where the aero inserts were sat, as dirt and grime built up between them and the wheel. I you plan on keeping the car, or care, I’d keep them off!
  18. Thanks for the reply, Nigel. This is the chart I tried to attach.

Thanks guys! Job done! I don't know why I couldn't remove it before, I didn't knowingly do anything different, but having watched the video I could see what I should be doing and what to expect and it pretty much came straight out. So all fixed now.
  20. There is indeed. Set by the screen in the graphic vehicle seating
  21. Remarkable how BBC has so far apparently been silent on this, another win to the YouTube media creators and yet so many are anti YouTubers when it is looking even more then ever that MSM is being controlled in some form, admitted not everything on YouTube is as it seems, but a large part is factual and as yet not controlled.
  22. Before 2023, from 2017 when I was looking, we hardly ever see EV with 0% finance. It's nearly always higher than ICE vehicle. People were saying EV are expensive because monthly are high. That was because EV depreciation are low back then, market choice was very limited. Now, people have moved the goal post, saying EV depreciate more and ignore the 0% incentives for ultra cheap monthly. Swings and roundabouts. Whatever suits your narrative. Truth is right now, EV depreciate slightly higher % and sometimes it's more expensive to buy initially. But lots of deals to be had for first buyer on finance and subsequent owners. (just don't be a first owner cash buyer)
  23. Service will look at it tomorrow hopefully update is available for this map issue
  24. When someone is ringing you, your right scroll wheel can be used to answer and hangup from memory BUT in middle of the call the option to hang up is gone Frustrating that you have to press screen A button to initiate call and hangup call is common sense !!!
  25. Yes, some sort of expansion, I expect. Poor car is not used to being outside, at home, and Is in direct sun on drive. Damn this climate!😂
  26. My apologies for not clarifying that. Previously I probably would have sent it to the UK, but too much of a headache now and added delays. Irrespective, there are a few options in the UK and more in Europe, if time is not an issue. Price wise they were all fairly similar. The parts alone i think were around €200 if you wanted to do it yourself. There's a few guides on YouTube
  27. We're getting an Ohme, no choice really, that or cough £1000. Waitng on the power company to assess the meter cupboard. It's quite crowded and I refused to say if there was 'enough' space on the basis that I'm not a fecking installer. It's amazing how uppity companies get when you refuse to sign off on things you have no qualification to do so. BA don't ask me to confirm the plane is safe and flightworthy when I book the tickets.
  28. You might be lucky, but your age range may cost a fair bit more. There is a 2016 (66 plate) 2.0 tdi 4x4, 85000 miles, on sale for £11995, not too far away, at Tibshelf, Derbyshire. This is a small used car dealership, so never will be a Skoda Approved car. For your budget, you will either buy a well used (or abused) 2015, or have to go for a much earlier model. Good luck, all the same.

Re ACC, if my maths is right, that's a 6% overread. My 2019 Karoq overreads by 4% - Acc, speedo & economy which I think was the norm for Karoqs of that age, so I set to 73mph for an actual 70mph. My Yeti used to overread by 10% on the speedo, as did my previous SAAB 9-5 (basically a Vauxhall with a posh body), but my BMW 523 reading was much closer to the truth.
  30. Standard / Factory / OEM Fabia Mk2 vRS Front discs and rears were not good if taking to the track. Would overheat and disable the XDS. But then standard or remapped on the road and driving quicker did not necessary mean that you had to use your brakes lots on 60 mph NSL roads. Or that the brakes were inadequate to proceed quickly and safely 'officer'. (Spirited driving and not always on the brakes.) ..................... SEAT Ibiza Cupra 2013 when they got the CTHE Engine had a Front Brake upgrade option. The Fabia, Polo & A1 Twinchargers never got this.
  31. Front brake PR code is never on the sticker. Message me with VIN if you'd like me to look it up for you.

@Frizzbee30 If you haven't got a long list of options, there's some very good deals around at the moment on unregistered cars. That could save you around £10k off the OTR price of a factory order but I think the current promo ends tomorrow.
  33. Hello, Maps 25.5 were pushed about 2 weeks ago on my car.

Many thanks - as the switch is one-way I'd assumed it only operated in single direction. Just tried and see it closes too👍
  35. when you interrupt regen and turn off car, regen stops, fuel in exhaust goes down to dilute oil, and fans are spinning to max speed to cool down DPF, because high temperature without fuel post injection can danage DPF. try not to interrupt renegs, or avoid it as possible, because it dilutes engine oil..
  36. Regens sometimes begin just before the end of your journey and will continue after you turn off the engine. They can last 10 - 15 mins depending on when, in the cycle, the regen was interrupted. Unfortunately the ECU isn't smart enough to 2nd guess the distance you've got left to drive when it decides to start a regen.
  37. A car in the hand is worth two in the bush. Buy right. Buy once. You bought a great car in your 272 Superb. Carry on using it and enjoying it for what it is. Whilst keeping on top of the servicing and replacing parts as they wear out. You know the history of your Superb. You know it should be good to give you plenty more years of faithful service.
  38. Speak with Kieran at https://eastyorkshireretrofits.co.uk/ he'll know what can and can't be done.
  39. Hi @ColinD The way I see it, the size of the car is irrelevant. The relevant question is, do you need two cars in the household? If the answer is yes (and I suspect it is), the solution here is to keep the car. As you've said, it is a good car in great condition (with some minor and normal wear and tear work in need of doing, so not an issue). Given the money already invested in the car, which you won't recover selling it, you are better off keeping it if there's a need for two vehicles in the house. Replacing with a "smaller" car is unlikely to deliver any meaningful insurance or fuel savings, and you will be less happy driving it. The current generation Fabia is very impressive (arguably the best - and biggest - iteration yet), but it's a small car and rides/handles like one. Fix the Superb, keep it, bask in the warm glow of happiness that comes from driving a car you like being in.
  40. Yes, installer will install henley blocks after your meter and then a fuse box after that for your charge point. Garage generally have a lower rated cable, 16 or 20 amps. Even if it is 32 amps rated cable, it still wouldn't be enough to account for other loads you may have in the garage. Charge point also need more than power, they typically run "EV ultra" cable, which includes an ethernet cable inside the armoured cable. Is there option to run a dedicated cable to the garage? I guess Octopus are installing the charge point. I wouldn't go with Ohme, OVO recently dropped support for this charge point, citing unwillingness to work with OVO on their new API. Zappi look questionable, especially the white one compared to something in the toilet 🙃. Hypervolt comes in different colours including white. I personally think it's the best looking and even the best charge point out there, I'd get this one if I'm installing now. 41. News to me that the charger must connect directly to the electric meter point. Which is a PITA since we've a detached garage so where we'd like to charge is a looooong way from the meter. Luckily we do have spaces at the house too but didn't really want the ugly black box out front.
  42. It looks like it does a lot of offroading!!
  43. That deserves it's own sticky in https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/22-briskoda-community-help-and-suggestions/ IMO. Excellent guide for newbies (and us oldies) alike.
  44. Thought I'd say hello, just joined the world of Skoda today after 13 years in a Hond Accord. I've just picked up this 2019 (MY2020) Skoda Superb 190 TDI in Laurin & Klement trim, it's got 67K miles on it, 19" Trinity wheels, the boot net and divider options and a spare wheel. It seems to have been a motorway car as the bonnet is quite heavily stone chipped, but the inside is in amazing condition, I'm not sure anyone has ever actually sat in the back! Next steps, sort out a boot liner, new set of front mats (the drives side one is worn through) and get a tow bar fitted to tow the other car around!
  45. Latest Updated Speedcams - April, 2025. Here's the latest update of my customised version of EUR Speedcams ( April, 2025 ). They consist of the full EUROPE speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Redlight Speedcams, Fixed Speedcams ( which now include European tunnel speedcams ), Average Speedcams and Variable Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons, shown below, to match each of the speedcam categories. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to open the newly extracted folder and place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in your infotainment map menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Hope you all enjoy them! EUR Speedcams - April, 2025.zip * Credit to jungblume2005 from Gpsurl for the use of his database which was used and converted in order to compile these files.
  46. Update from my dealer Good Afternoon Mr Henson, Our team has made contact with Skoda for an update. They have told us that there is a software update and that it is currently in testing. We have been advised not to do any updates until we get further instructions. I will keep monitoring the situation and let you know as I know more.
  47. Can't help with fill and drain on your engine, they are pretty easy to spot on my 6 speed manual (1.4tsi), but you're absolutely right it is well worth changing. I did mine a couple of years ago and it came out in pretty poor shape. Can't say I noticed much difference in quietness or shifting but it was good to know that it was back up to spec.
