  1. No, far too tight to pay the extra for the bigger battery and have just not needed it as the smaller battery still does 260 mile range and on the very unusual occasion I need a few more miles I just stop at one of the 90,000 odd chargers a get a few kwh just to get me home to the very cheap home charging. Smaller battery versions are cheaper to buy, usually better dynamically due to the less weight, cheaper tyres etc.
  2. Germany has reintroduced the EV grant system. Not as generous as before and looking very much like the UK's EV Grant system. Think it is for EVs of less than 45k Euros and is a €4k grant so basically the German government will still get a net tax receipt based on the VAT collection. Should help their ailing car industry though specifically on those smaller cars as well as for other EU car makers including Tesla Berlin. Chinese cars being whacked with the massive EU AntiDumping tax. UK being targeted by Chinese such as a MG4 Long Range for £20k. Would not want one but that is cheap !
  3. Parking spaces have a set minimum requirement. @Graham Butcher do the widths quoted include the mirrors? If two model Ys parked correctly in the bays there would be at least 400mm (over 15inch) between them

Thanks! Yes, I mean if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, etc. lol. If that's all it is, it's an easy fix I'm sure but at the same time it's not what you expect on a brand new car, is it?!
  5. Size generally correlates to weight though obviously its not always exactly linear. There is no way I could do with anything smaller than my Superb at the moment. If anything I need something bigger as whenever we visit my wife's parents it's always crammed full and I have to take a roofbox as well now. I certainly don't have it to inflate my ego!
  6. Very good friend of mine, 6 foot 5", use to get in the old Mini fine, after removing the bump stops and pushing drivers seat right back. Could not put anyone behind the driver but could use front passenger seat and rear passenger seat. I found the exterior size of the car has surprisingly little bearing on driver and front passenger space. Whilst disappointed with European Car of the Year 2025 Renault 5 rear passenger space to be honest I travel 90% plus on my own or with 1 passenger who goes in the front. I have the European Car of the Year 2024 Renault Scenic for when I need 5 large driver/passenger spaces, which is not usually for 5 large adults as that would exceed the GVW of the cars with its mere, but average, 523 kgs between Kerb and GVW, but those little one, ie grand children, need rear space for their car seats. Low weight, even with their accoutrements, prams, strollers etc, but good rear seat space is nice. So back to thinking about the CoTY 2025 R5, yes compromised in rear seat space and I would not like to be back there for more than a few minutes. Hope the wee electric Twingo has good front seat space like the R5, back seats will be rubbish to those of us over 6 foot but fine for children and petite persons but the cost saving in buying and running would be huge compared to running another sizeable car like the Scenic when I already have one for the team bus.
  7. Those are the Lab test results that car manufacturers made their cars perform within those limits. Real world tests, in the lower temperatures range of air intake and surrounding temperatures, rain water being sprayed off the road hitting the casing of the catalytic convertor showed the lab results could be out a factors of several multiples. Euro BIS abd Euro7 look to address the lab results against what tge emissions are in reality both at low higher ambient temperatures and high humidity and wet conditions and results of such tests are showing NOX as high as 6 and 7 times higher than than 60 for petrol and 80 mg/ km for diesel. I think this will be much of the motivation to restrict or ban Euro6d abd below from cities ie the real world pollution of Euro6d and below is often nowhere near where it should be. Diesels, petrol vehicles and hybrids will be not allowed unless it is a large battery PHEV than can use their electric drive and anyone use fossil fuel propulsion, detected by infrared cameras, will be fined substantially.

  10. Petrol vehicle from 2006 have the same NOx as 2020 diesels A 2006 petrol engine has a Euro 4 standard with a maximum NOx emission of 0.08 g/km0.08 g/km 0.08 g/km , while a 2020 diesel engine meets the Euro 6 standard, with a limit of 0.08 g/km0.08 g/km 0.08 g/km for NOx, so if they change the limit again they will exclude more petrol car too
  11. Hi KJJ, I took it in to my local Skoda dealer and the technician did a test drive with me but of course we couldn't get it to fail. Skoda state they haven't heard of other instances but we know this is BS. In my situation the revs completely die but then kick back in after about 5-10 secs, without the need to restart. So not actually stalling in the correct sense. It makes me think the stop/start is activating incorrectly , as it's always at low revs when performing a slow manoeuvre..i.e in slow traffic or pulling away at a junction. What worries me is "dieing" when pulling away joining a fast road. I haven't experienced any unusual engine noises though.
  12. My Scenic is 1822 Kgs not 1906 Kgs. Weighs the same amount or full of fuel if you had most of a tank I suspect weight would be almost identical. Concern about SUVs is their high front ends in hitting pedestrians, cyclist etc I understand. Also to try and get those diesels without the better two stage NOX reduction and whose real NOX is higher the 60 mg/km or even 80 mg/km. Whilst it is denied the level or cleanness of emissions is going to risey from Euro 6 I believe it is only a matter of time, ie 2028 or later, that the NOX emissions minimum standard will be raised to Euro 7 standards for London and other major cities if not an outright ban of diesels from cities during working hours at least. Think you were looking at the large battery Scenic rather than my 60/65 kwh version.
  13. No, the Skoda Enyaq is not a small SUV; it is a mid-size SUV with a focus on practicality and spaciousness, often compared to family-sized vehicles. It offers a generous cabin, especially in the back, and a large boot for its class. Classified as a mid-size SUV: Multiple sources describe it as a mid-size or family-sized SUV, and it won the "Best Medium SUV" award at the 2024 Business Car Awards, according to Business Car. Spacious interior: The Enyaq is designed for family use, with ample legroom for rear passengers and enough width for three adults to sit comfortably in the back, notes Exchange & Mart and Carwow. Large boot: It has a substantial boot capacity of 585 liters, which can be expanded to 1,710 liters by folding down the rear seats, making it very practical for luggage and shopping. Platform and size: It shares a platform with the Volkswagen ID.4 but is larger, offering more interior space, says Parkers and Business Car.
  14. I've tried clearing it via VCDS but it just doesn't go away - either vcds can't clear it or it just respawns instantly. I'll try through ODIS. Weirdly enough when going through OBDII option on vcds it doesn't report any DTCS. I've also looked for abs data and it was normal, abs sensors didn't report any malfunctions.
  15. Given the date, time and mileage stamp of the second (B2000 00) fault, I'd just have it cleared and see if it reappears. It may have been due to the battery disconnection. Ditto for the U1123 00 DTC - although this one may indicate an issue with one or more of the ABS wheel sensors if it recurs.
  16. HI, thank you! The battery is 2 months old and the health is at around 97%
  17. Hello, welcome to the forum. The very first thing you need to do after getting numerous and seemingly random DTCs is test the battery for SOC and health condition.
  18. For car parks i look for spaces where one has reversed in and the car to it's offside has gone nose in. leaving loads of room for me to reverse in the middle of the lines.
  19. It’s possible that the camera is the higher spec one that supports TSR, my 73 plate has this camera. Unfortunately the coding is protected and TSR cannot be made functional. Mine is June 23 build, if yours is an earlier build date without protected coding, if might be possible.
  20. I think he means the LED Board within the headlight.
  21. Oh dear, well now this is rather embarrassing, have either @wyx087 or @lol-lol actually checked their own stats I wonder, lets dissect it a bit shall we, might good for a laugh if nothing else, 😃 Me. Kodiaq 110kw TDI 4x4, DSG 5 seater L 4697mm W 2087mm H 1660mm KB 1709kg Wyx087 Tesla Model Y LR L 4790mm W2129mm H 1623mm KB 1997kg Lol-Lol Scenic L4470mm W 2085mm H 1570mm KB 1906kg Given that @wyx087 seems to think that the Chelsea tractors are mostly to be seen with only 1 or 2 people in them, and the kerb weight of cars is given as the operating weight with 1 driver of around 75kg, the motive plant is full of all required liquids and in the case of ICE, fuel tank fuel to 90% which is really a more sensible figure rather than the GVW as that is how they are used most often. Now lets look at the list presented 1 to 6. Bigger danger to cyclists, pedestrians and other road users. How is this possible given the above. Doing more road damage. Well, here the electric cars are indeed heavier than my diesel car, so do more road damage. General worse emissions. Here based purely on tailpipe emissions, I have to concede, I'm the worst 😒 Oft near the edges, or over, the parking boxes they are suppose to fit in. Here all should fit in the normal bay which is 2.4m wide by 4.8m long, trouble is though that I expect the marked bays are often smaller than they should be. Could be a good extra revenue raiser. Well based on the 3 examples, Tesla owners should be paying most of it.😂 Make traffic queues longer. this one is really stretching it a bit don't you think? So in conclusion it would indeed seem that the EV car could very well be actually heavier than a big diesel SUV with 4x4 drive, transfer box and a heavy old DSG gearbox and also even bigger overall, who knew. 😉 I used to berate the Chelsea Tractors myself until I kind of joined them, but for the right reasons, I doubt that anybody can claim that a Kodiaq is a aspirational vehicle, unlike a Range Rover or a Mercedes Benz G Wagon, which can be north of a £100k. The biggest problem with them is that if you are in a small car, especially a low slung sports car (which are themselves aspirational, Aston Martin, Ferreria, Porsche etc) then they can be very hard to see past, other wise, they are not large in reality as demonstrated above.
  22. DPF has been replaced, stated above. "If a vehicle is doing too frequent re-gens, It's wise to look at the cause not the environmental solution." And this is exactly what I'm trying to establish, what is the cause of my too frequent regenerations?
  23. There is no Maintenance / Service Regime for a DQ200 7 speed dry clutch DSG. But a 2013-2015 should maybe have had Service Campaign '34H5 done since 2017. Maybe best avoid, then there is the 1.6 TDI CR having the FIX done or not, Water Pump & Timing belt, and not great reliability. You want good servicing just the same with a 2.0TDI and water pump and cambelt done.
  24. My personal view would be to go for a manual gearbox - lots of potentail problems with poorly mainatined DSG boxes..... If diesel check for proper maintenance of the DPF and associated components. Try and get a good quality scan done for stored faults before you commit. I speak from personal experience....
  25. Far too many Chrlsea tractors around that need to be wacked for several reasons ie Bigger danger to cyclists, pedestrians and other road users. Doing more road damage General worse emissions Oft near the edges, or over, the parking boxes they are suppose to fit in Could be a good extra revenue raiser Make traffic queues longer Is increased charges enough of a dis-incentive or do we need more of a big stick. Bring on the K cars.
  26. Alan, You've clearly had a bit of "bad do" but if you like the car it doesn't really matter if repairs cost more than it's worth. It's the replacement cost you should be comparing the repair costs to. I spent many hundreds on my old 2008 Octavia until it became untenable because of the need to go into the London ULEZ quite frequently. In many ways I still regret selling it because its replacement ULEZ compliant vRS has been an absolute sod.....
  27. Indeed, both are very true. Is it fair for smaller lighter cars to be hit with same tax/parking as heavier ones that does more damage to the roads and take up more road space? Is it possible to rent said larger vehicle for those once a month trips? Is it possible to drive a smaller vehicle for times when the big car isn't needed? (you've already answered them, I'm just putting out food for thought, if you like) There's indeed different uses and needs by different people, for example farmers seems to swear by their Land Rover or Toyota's. But at the same time, tragic death at that Wimbledon school could be avoidable if such monstrocity isn't on the road. It's all relative. Unfortunately around suburban London, most large passenger vehicles (typically Range Rover or biggest SUV by a German brand) I see are not serving its intended purpose are sparkly clean, only 1 or 2 in the car, and are definitely for one's ego.

Don’t forget the EA888 warranty fix in 2020/21 ish, where they just removed the engine covers entirely! My vRS has no sound deadening underneath the bonnet - it’s the same with all TSI engine vRS models. VW sort of claimed that it was for enhanced sound, etc, but last time I checked an M3 had stuff on the underside of the bonnet… VAG.
  29. You're better off getting the Mk3 versions retrimmed in Alcantara, and adding some sound proofing on the door skin while you're at it. I would imagine the door cards are completely different. Mk3 cards fit on a Mk3.5, but don't have the ambient lighting strip. It might be worth getting some Mk3.5 cards for your car (and let me know where you get them from!)

  32. An answer from AI "In a MK3 Skoda Octavia, your dials go darker when outside light decreases because of the automatic dimming system controlled by a light sensor . The car is programmed to automatically adjust the brightness of the dashboard and infotainment displays to optimize visibility and reduce glare at night." "How the system works Sensing the light: Your car's light sensor, located near the rear view mirror, continuously measures the amount of ambient light. Activating night mode: When the sensor detects that it is dark enough outside, the system assumes it is nighttime and automatically switches the instrument cluster and infotainment screen to a dimmer, less distracting setting. This is a safety feature that prevents the bright lights from distracting or blinding the driver. Adjusting for bright light: Conversely, when the sensor detects bright sunlight, it increases the illumination of the dials so that they are still visible and readable in direct glare. " So in a tunnel turn your lights on.

  35. Well... I've just driven the car and tried to get it to judder, hesitate, jerk etc. And I couldn't, it drove smoothly. Whether my driving style has changed, or the car has 'bedded in' I don't know. Be interesting to see how it performs once the weather gets colder.
  36. There will be far more knowledgeable people on here than me, but here is a bit of 'advice' gained from my 2 week ownership of a 2025 Karoq SE L with the same engine and transmission. There can be some hesitation when pulling away, due to a few factors. 1). The main 'issue' is a combination of 'stop start' and 'auto hold', (plus see 3). With the car engine stopped, and autohold engaged, as soon as you want to move, there is a short delay. The engine starts first, then the brake disengages. This is to be expected. But if you're not used to it, and want a quick smooth get away, you might be disappointed. I would suggest that on a test drive, disengage autohold and stop start one at a time, and see if you're happy with how it all works together. Also, when parallel parking involving a few drive/reverse changes, both of these together can be a pain. I take both off when parking on a level road, and stop start off when doing it on an incline. Note that the autohold in reverse takes a bit of getting used to as you're rarely trying to move off quckly, so it takes a bit of practice to avoid jerkiness. Again, try this manouver out on a test drive. 2). The whole jerkiness appears worse when the car is cold. When it's warmed up a bit, I don't find it a problem at all. 3). The gear box tends to want to move up the gears faster than you might be used to or expect. Again, this isn't really a problem, but look out for it. If the car has a sport mode, check it out on the test drive and see how it compares. And do that in combination with 1). I'm still exploring this, as I've not had the car long enough to check it out! 4). Honestly, depending on your driving style, you might not even notice it. I try and move off firmly and steadily and rarely notice it now. Don't let what I've written put you off. These are good engines and gearboxes, and work well together. I love mine, and would buy it again in an instant.

  38. It's gases from the crank case and perfectly normal. You'll see the same from the oil filler if you remove the cap.
  39. The Kodiaq is available in both 5 and 7 seat models, mine just happens to be a dedicated 5 seat, it is however as far as I can see, identical in size on Mk1 version like mine. When I was looking for replacement for the Superb, I tried a 7 seat version for size and there was no way of fitting my family of 6ft 4" sons in it for anything longer than a quick run into town shopping. The boot size was also poor as the extra 2 seat eat away at the space and in order to fit 7 people in it, the middle row have been moved forward. The 5 seat model does not have that problem, it is on a par with the Superb for passenger space, but because you are sitting more upright, the overall length could be and has been shortened so it is smaller overall footprint on the road. I'm not even to comment on the rest of your reply as I'm perfectly sure that time will clearly show that many of the claims being made to convince us of climate change is simply not true., so let time show us who was right.
