  1. I tend to take photos with either a Minolta Dimage F100 or an S304, depending on the situation. However, my Mum's Kodak EasyShare I found in a drawer. It's not that bad, it kept overexposing slightly in automatic mode, so I've compensated for that when loading the images into Ulead PhotoExpress 3.0 (yeah it's about 25 years old but works bob on).
  2. Our mkii fan gave up similarly. I was able to extract it from the passenger footwell without too much issue (one connector a couple of screws and then fiddling) and did the same with some lubricant on the bearing. It freed up nicely and lasted a few more years until we traded it in for the Kodiaq. I'd imagine you can do the same for yours.
  3. Make & Model: Mk1 Fabia vRS SE #883 Colour: Race Blue Mileage: 133k Price: £2000 ono Description: Selling my old Fabia for a newer car as I don't have the bandwidth to give it the care it deserves, and don't want to let it deteriorate on my watch. Hoping to find a caring owner, hence advertising here. I got it at 122k miles with 2 previous owners, last owner was some sensible older gent. Generally driven gently (very rare hoon down a coastal road but never thrashed), serviced by the same guy who does its MOT. Currently only being driven every few days to keep the battery happy etc. Genuinely love this wee car but I'm just not able to do right by it. Condition: clean MOT until Feb 2027 Paint/alloys/detailing in need of refurb Electrics have begun playing up (electric windows (front) not working, front left door intermittently not opening, boot latch needs manually opened) Rust on sills Engine cover missing Mechanically sound, pulls nicely, shifts fine etc. Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work: Large collection of paperwork inc previous owners, however a few bits missing Mods: Lightly uprated slotted disks Extras: Standard SE stuff. Tinted rear windows and sunstrip, leather seats... and a 6-disk cd autochanger!!! Collection: Greenock, Scotland or nearby (eg Glasgow) Pictures:
  4. From memory I didn’t hear any “click - that is it”. Maybe get some confidence from how the calliper looks relative to the disc on re-assembly.
  5. Hard to tell from the pics, too much rust on the wheel bearing housing to see much clearly. In some of the pics, it looks like the internal spline is damaged, but that must surely be a trick of the light. I did one recently on a new, pre-heated bearing housing, and I felt it arrive more than heard it. Still took a bit of grunt to pull it in, but there was a definite "that's not going any further whatsoever" feel when it arrived. Not sure if I took any pics, will have a look.
  6. Well, it smells of GT85, but it works better than it did!
  7. 2017 2L L&K Hatch 150 Brilliant Silver Metalic Black Leather with Spare 16” wheel Went alllllll the way to Cardiff to get it Yesterday so nothin done to it YET 😜
  8. I’m not a massive fan either; however the Santa Fe looks massive but dimensionally only like 3cm longer and wider than my Superb estate. I think the boxyness makes it look bigger than it is
  9. I never used "handbreak" before chatgpt, it might be affecting my cognitive abilities. On another note: if anyone knows any replacement suited for the handbrake cover I would also appreciate it
  10. Update: I manage to find the proper size oil drain plug and YES i manage to lost the original photo as i bought it. I went it to a lathe-machine shop and i bought an AH grade Neodymium magnet. Use again JB Weld epoxy glue (Temperature resistant up to 300 ° C) I have to wait for some months to install it,would be when it's time for a oil change. Hope there would be no problems.
  11. I used to use graphite powder in locks but even the tiny amount needed makes such a mess that I stopped, it's a bit like coppergrease a tiny bit seems to coat everywhere else. as you know GT85 is my go too for most penertrating/releasuing and longer lasting lubricamt. I spray all the garden tools I use with GT85 to clean, lubricate and protect whilst in damp sheds.

Ordered and received within 24 hrs a ottocast mini nova …… connected wirelessly to the car with no probs !!!!
  13. The indie garage that quoted 500 for the cambelt, is the garage that services my Scala, so they do know which engine it is.
  14. Easymanuals.co.uk could be a good source of what you want/need at not much money, they are just copies that have been grabbed from erWin in the past, I've bought one for each of my VW Group cars and they are very handy to have once you learn how to use them. Edit:- these captive "bolts" will have been pressed into the swivel castings just like wheel hub studs are pressed into the hubs - they will have male splines in the casting contact area to prevent rotation.
  15. Thank you kind sir, the level of English has increased in this thread.
  16. Yep. I'll probably hold off on a replacement for a while longer. We are using my wife's Kona EV more & more as it's so much cheaper to run & is easier to get in & out of with my worsening back issues. I've never been a fan of SUV's but they are much better for getting in & out of as you get older.

    Check this site https://fitcamx.com/collections/for-seat-cupra/products/fitcamx-dash-cam-for-skoda-octavia-4-iv-2020-2023?variant=42868199391404
  18. I’m maybe thinking of replacing mine at some point too, nothing wrong with it but found out the Hyundai Santa Fe has two proper AC vents in the boot (for passengers 6&7) which still work when the 3rd row seats folded down, so perfect for my dog to be chilling instead of boiling Biggest problem now though is it’s not a great time to lease/pcp as prices are stupidly high
  19. Not sure where you can get factory service manual since erWin stopped being helpful to non-business users. Mk2 Fabia Haynes info will have very large overlap with Roomster.
  20. So, my friend John Claude made a chart. Steering Wheel Guide Link skoda_steering_wheels-1.html
  21. I'm currently running our 24 SEL on 16 Audi wheels with the appropriate tyres (Michelin Cross Climate)to maintain the rolling circumference as the roads are diabolical in Notts & Derbys - My insurer, Aviva, had no objections to me changing the Alloys, no excess to pay either.
  22. Maybe a different engine, but still from the same family, my wife has a 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI with the same design of belt and drive, I considered that 7.5 years would be a good point along with a mileage of 45,000 miles, but actually left it to 10 years and just over 50,000 miles(I think) before getting the belt replaced by a local German cars specialist. My mate, with a 2019 VW T-Roc 1.5TSI DADA, got his belt changed a few months ago and used a local to him German cars specialist, I had warned him that it would probably cost around £1500 if using a VAG Indie and a lot more if using any VW Group dealership's workshop, he reckoned that it was going to be around £800, which does seem cheap to me for these engines with inlet and exhaust adjustable camshaft pulleys which need to get set up using a specialist kit of bits - my wife's 2015 1.2TSI while being from the same engine family, only has adjustable inlet cambelt pulley so seems to be less demanding when it comes to belt changing, so should end up being cheaper.
  23. Ooh lucky bugger. Weve been a few times but seems to miss the puffins. Last time we wentbtere had been and Albatross around for a few days and that morning but it'd left about an hour before we got there.
  24. Yes - truly wonderful. Didn't see an Albatross unfortunately. Very pleased to have seen this. Very distant and not the best photo, but chuffed nonetheless 👍
  25. After somewhat +/- 6 months of searching, finally got summer shoes for my swan Tyres are not what it should be, but will have to do for the time being

Are you aware that CarPlay needs to be enabled, and that the MIB2 and MIB2.5do not support wireless CarPlay? To get wireless CarPlay you have to use a USB adapter such as CPlay2Air (which is what I use).
  27. @philsmith I am sorry to hear about your experience with your Superb. A competent dealer makes all the difference, whatever marque. Our supplying Land Rover dealer was great at the outset in 2017 but then lost all of the good people, becoming so incompetent that I dreaded any contact with them - "technician says it might help if you lay a blanket over the engine block at night to help retain the heat for the startup routine in the morning". That was their recommendation in the absence of an available diesel glow plug control unit, due to supply chain issues when JLR screwed up their UK parts' distribution centres because of an efficiency drive. Own goal there! Did our Velar V6 D300 start in the Italian ski resort of Madesimo? Yes, after almost 15mins turnover and a near flat battery. That's a £71k product in 2017 money. I guess what I am saying is that our collective experience is all too common. Your post made me watch a YouTube video of the Jaecoo 8 Executive. Flippin' hec, it looks pretty good outside and the interior fit out is generally impressive too. As per usual, the reviewer was at the Jaecoo launch event and, as many other journalists have already stated about the resultant journalistic output, it wasn't the most rigorous or objective of reviews. Nonetheless, Jaecoo is a market disruptor and, if I was a current European or Japanese manufacturer I would be very worried. Would I buy one? Goodness, no. Would I lease one? I might over the same period as the full manufacturer's warranty (by which I mean, discounting the long headline warranty duration and instead focusing on the core, non wear & tear element). So, three or four years then. As a lease, the majority of the risk sits with the lease company for what is a new entrant into the UK. I say majority of the risk because.... a lot hinges upon the dealer network and parts supply. Sound familiar? If there are issues, serious issues, then some of the risk still sits with the driver under a lease agreement. The lease looked pretty decent though. 36mths, 12mth initial payment and 15k miles per annum was coming out at £500 per month after a £6k initial payment. So, £24k over the three years then. Why am I not ready for this? A few things. First, despite your personal experience with your latest Skoda, I am not yet ready for a jump into the unknown with Jaecoo. Not yet. Like you, from what I read, I have a low tolerance of faff and I really do worry that there's still a mountain of 'unknown unknowns' with these Chinese challenger manufacturers here in the UK and Europe. I just don't have the risk appetite for them yet, even on lease. I am a late adopter, not an early one or innovator. Second, I am also not yet ready for a 1.5 Chinese engine hauling a large SUV around when the battery is exhausted. China is great at battery technology but less so with ICE. Nor am I ready for the soft, relaxed ride on the Scottish Borders' fast twisty roads where we live. Straight line? Yes, providing it doesn't wander in lane on the motorway like some of the others. Cornering? High centre of gravity, the mass shifts in the turn. Not nice. Been there with the Velar and, despite all the electronic wizardry that JLR threw at it, an SUV is still an SUV. And Jaecoo isn't renowned for it's handling, feedback and steering yet. There's just too much mental baggage for a leap to Jaecoo yet. But, on first sight, the Jaecoo 8 appears interesting when specced thoughtfully (paintwork, interior configuration etc). I hope you enjoy yours and I congratulate you on being an early adopter. Jaecoo are throwing a lot at the UK market and, since the Chinese domestic consumer market is having a tough time at present and they don't have access / easy access to the US or EU marketplace, I get the business strategy here. They're new here but they're not new in China. Finally, being the last of the Boomers or the first of GenX, I still prefer to buy and own stuff. I don't enjoy lease or PCP, having tried the latter once. A Jaecoo 8, any Jaecoo, only makes sense with a lease or PCP for me right now. I'm not yet ready for that model of funding our cars. Meanwhile, I await delivery of our Superb and hope that I have a good experience otherwise I may just throw in the towel, join you and move to the lease / disposable / white goods approach to family transport that has become so popular these days. Best wishes and thanks for taking the time to let us all know. Possibly a tricky pill for some here to swallow but I guess we all know that it's important to listen to the full range of feedback, not just the happy-clappy stories. Arianne
  28. It could be carboned up veins in turbo that is causing a blip which will put into temporary limp mode especially when accelerating then clear once restarted or failing/clogged boost pressure sensor/vacuum leak/N75 valve. They can both cause I think called temporary/soft codes that some scanners don't pick up. Had similar in my old octy. Stopped and started again and back to normal. No EML on each time but eventually got a code plus EML that it was over boosting. Turned out to be sticking actuator in my case. Reckon a scan with vcds is required as it should pick up any codes that other scanners miss. Alasdair
  29. Very surprised there are no DTCs. Sometimes stuff like a misfire don’t log a code, but anything worthy of the car going into limp mode is almost certain to be logged. Have you tried yourselves with OBD11 or similar? It sounds like bad luck - these cars have a pretty good reputation on the whole. Sure, there are the usual TDI issues, the TSI engines all have crap water pump housings, the infotainment system is rubbish and some panels are made of chocolate, but on the whole they are reliable and good value cars. At least, from what I’ve seen anyway. The TDI vRS drivetrain is shared with the GTD, Leon FR 184ps and some A3s. The same basic EA288 lump is used across many cars - Arteon, Passat, Golf, Leon, Ateca, Superb, A3, A4 and more. Aside from oil consumption, it’s generally pretty good.
  30. Get the battery voltage checked plus make sure terminals are secure and clean plus earths. Make sure battery is secure as well. Had problem with old skoda that the mechanic who was servicing it forgot to tighten battery securing clamp and one terminal so when going into tight corners battery was moving and causing bad connection. Alasdair
  31. Is the car tuned? engine ecu? gearbox? (if it's a DSG) I'm asking because I've seen an audi a6 TDI whit a ecu tune and some parameter were exlued from giving warning light on the dash but the fault was active but not stored and causing the ecu to go in limp mode, in the end after fashing the ecu back to original they were able to see the fault and was a oil temperature switch readin 1000°C
  32. It will make more noise and nothing else but I think your Son should have no influence on your Car. When he is able to afford his own he can make his own decisions. It's a life lesson.
  33. Message me with VIN or reg plate. 🙂
