  1. On my last 3 Skoda I bought an adapter and plugged into the ODBA socket, this particular model is switched, it saves all that faffing about. Around £7-£10 on Amazon other retailers should be considered.
  2. Thank you Tintowellfan I looked up ALA Gap insurance and they do look well recommended.
  3. Sorry I an NOT any sort of salesman. You made a statement "Never take GAP insurance. " I just wanted to know if you had a real reason for such a sweeping statement.
  4. Can you explain why? the principal seems sound.
  5. What are you going to do about GAP insurance? go through the dealer or find your own.
  6. Thank you all, that is very interesting. I love the Kamiq Monte Carlo but I cannot do it justice nowadays so I have decided (with the Lionesses permission ) to go for another Fabia I liked the Kombi but have settled for an SE L. Now I wait.
  7. I had a problem when I towed with my Yeti, I put the tyre pressures up for a full car and after half an hour The tyre warning light came on. I immediately pulled into a handy services and checked each car tyre and found the pressures had increased (over the set pressures) due to friction. Reset pressures and continued with no more problems
  8. I has a look at the new Fabias at my local Skoda dealer and something about the interior look made me ask if the interior was bigger/longer. The extra space reminded me of the Fabia Kombi (I like the name o.k.) so I ask, is it on the longer chassis/platform,
  9. I noticed the Autocar review was uncomplimentary about the pulling away performance. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/skoda/fabia Engines and performance.
  10. I'm only 5'11" and 15st and I find my Kamiq MC very comfortable. I had to remember to remove my Wallet and House Keys though.
  11. I find I have to glance at the rev counter, the engine on my Kamiq is so quiet, leaving the car a couple of bongs as a gentle reminder does not offend.
  12. During some of the fuel shortages, 60mph was strongly recommended by the motoring organisations as a maximum speed. my last Yeti diesel (if I remember correctly) did 30-37 towing our caravan going one way against the wind and the return with the wind. Solo 50-57 depending on traffic.
  13. It is illegal to leave your car unattended with the engine running, certainly your insurance company would not like it either. It is also not very Green. The bongs could save you money in fines or a stolen car.
  14. I had an old car, no sidelights, I think the disc was an orange filter used in the old days to improve vision in fog. When I drove into my unlit garage I stuck the disc to the offside headlight to reduce glare. It was a faff, I bought another car! (with sidelights)
  15. I was given a sucker attached to an amber disc, this stuck on the headlamp as I only had a dipped beam (no sidelights) Perhaps you could rig up something similar.
  16. I have a 2021 Monte Carlo Kamiq No Puddle Lights fitted
  17. Jet washers are a pain if used by untrained people, I saw a caravan have its panels opened up by its owner using a jet washer close up!

  20. Other cars were, a Hillman Hunter that I fitted with electronic ignition. It was at that stage in its life where everything was frictionless and it went like sh1te off a shovel (R/H Handbrake, why?) A couple of Avenger 'coupes' one of which turned into a sail car as the breeze caught the two big open doors. The other had a petrol tank that started to leak at the seam (that was halfway up the tank) after we got into the wilds of Wales. We finished the trip with three oil cans filled with petrol in the boot that were replenished as the tank ran dry and was refilled.
  21. I liked my 1.6 turbo diesel Fiesta Ghia and the other very quick Fiestas, The Ford Focus 2L diesel, my two Deux Chevaux, Clubmen, fitted with front air dams, my two Yeti which I adored the Fabia 1L Monte Carlo estate, and my current Kamiq Monte Carlo
  22. The car must be level and not tilted on a camber. After the engine is hot (or warm) enough leave the engine to allow oil to run back off any surfaces and back to the sump. Wipe the dipstick, check the level. The top and bottom oil shown in the photo indicates oil thrown up the dipstick tube and the current oil level, the oil having not had time to drain .

  25. What is a user profile? and why do you have to be reminded of it in your car? I could never see the point of giving away personal information to the next owner or the skoda techs.
