Changing the sidelight bulb in 2005 Octavia
Just pop the headlight out, replace the bulb and refit it. Assuming it's currently correctly fitted and you refit it correctly, it shouldn't make any real difference to the headlight alignment. It's super easy given the headlights are trivial to remove Just for example:

Upgrade infotainment?
Good question, TBH I'm not super sure but I don't think there is much in it... MIB2.5 came on MY18 cars (iirc) so adds a few things: - virtual cockpit support - skoda connect (won't work on retrofitted units) - few UI tweaks including supporting colour changes with ambient lighting etc - removing physical buttons for the 'glass' screens @pab567 will be able to explain the differences in more detail. He can probably supply an appropriate screen and might even be able to 'rework' your MIB2 into a MIB2.5 if needed. Happy to be corrected as I've only really experienced the MIB2.5 Amundsen

Upgrade infotainment?
The bottom picture is a MIB2.5 Columbus unit, this runs at a different resolution to other units so you would also need to replace the 'brains' in the glovebox and deal with component protection, FeC/SWaP, coding etc... The MIB2 Amundsen, MIB2 Columbus and MIB2.5 Amundsen all run at the same resolution and I believe the displays are a direct swap. Based on that, you could swap the existing display for a MIB2.5 Amundsen display to give you something that looks like this without coding etc: Obviously you should double check before buying The MIB3 units seem to be full of bugs and I don't believe they are compatible with older cars so I'd skip that for now...

Updating Amundsen satnav in Octavia MkII 2013
I've never used a MIB1 headunit but it feels like it should only take a few minutes. Maybe go for a drive and see if it figures itself out. I always format my card for map updates but as long as everything has been deleted, it's not 'necessary'...

How many miles should I get out of Michelin CrossClimates (and/or other tyres)?
17k seems very low to me, have you checked the tyre tread depth yourself? For comparison, I put four crossclimates on my MK2 Octavia at ~64k: - replaced two at ~102k (puncture on one) - replaced two at ~138k (worn out) - replace all four at 188k (worn out) They were rotated occasionally but that's an average of ~62k miles per tyre despite the puncture causing lost usage from one pair... I'm of the opinion you should have more grip on the back to reduce the chance of oversteer given it's harder to control. This seems to be backed up by most tyre companies, The problem with mixing summer/all season/winter tyres is the grippy end can change depending on the weather/season. I'd very much suggest sticking to one variety on all four corners for a more predictable (and safe) experience

Updating Amundsen satnav in Octavia MkII 2013
I assume you actually have a MK3 Octavia as the MK2 never got MIB headunits Skoda MIB headunits use the SD CID (card ID) for identification. This cannot be wiped by formatting so it's safe to format...

Skoda Octavia mk3 2014 VRS 2.0 TDI AC not working
Assuming your VCDS is genuine, it might be worth asking Rosstech 👍

Pretty sure that's a maxidot cluster so I imagine it counts as a highline

Skoda Octavia mk3 2014 VRS 2.0 TDI AC not working
There are no fault codes shown in your picture... There is a similar car here which shows the exact same output for the HVAC: https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/17803/#post-158094 Address 08: Auto HVAC (J255) Labels:| 5G0-907-044.clb Part No SW: 5E0 907 044 E HW: 5E0 907 044 E Component: Climatronic H02 0805 Revision: 00001K06 Coding: 01110104000100011005000000100000 Shop #: WSC 73430 031 00063 ASAM Dataset: EV_ACClimaBHBVW37X 003017 ROD: EV_ACClimaBHBVW37X_003_SK37.rod VCID: 2708F398EF65ECDFFF7-8072 Fresh Air Blower Front: Refrigerant Pressure And Temperature Sender: Air quality sensor: No fault code found.

Can ABS fault cause flat battery ?
You have electromechanic power steering so there is no power steering fluid or pump You should get the car checked for fault codes and perform a parasitic current draw test to confirm what, if anything, is consuming power when it's turned off.

Infotainment System.
It's possible it's been miscoded... I certainly agree a C rev should be DAB capable. Might be worth finding a local VCDS user to take a look for you 🤔

Skoda Octavia mk2 facelift halogen to xenon headlight conversion guide
It's completely different between the pre-FL and FL. The pre-FL uses 10 pin connectors and a headlight range module. I think it reuses the same headlight motors that the halogens use..? The FL uses 14 pin connectors and each headlight gains a AFS slave module. These communicate via the AFS CAN-bus with the AFS master which controls both the headlight range (up/down) and cornering (left/right) motors. If you want to add xenon's on a pre-FL, I'd suggest grabbing the wiring diagrams for both halogen and xenon based cars from Erwin 👍

New ECU???
Some crash faults can be removed but I think the general VAG/Skoda stance is probably to replace it. Have you contacted your insurance or the garage that did the repairs? Feels like it's gonna be linked to the original accident...

That's a common misconception The satnav checks the SD card CID which cannot be changed or erased during a format

Map update STD_1510_E_U1_202122. Query
The latest full Europe maps no longer fit on a 16GB card Obvious options are to buy a 32GB Skoda/VW card or use a map version with fewer countries installed so it's smaller. I think some files can be removed to make it fit on a 16GB card but I can't remember which...

Expansion bottle replacement
@EnterName - I'm still on the original double walled tank with silica in place at the moment Once I know my coolant leak is solved, I'll probably be switching to a single walled tank without the bag so I may consider it then.

AFS issue - any ideas?!
My understanding is on a non-DCC pre-FL is that: - You only have two level sensors, both on the passenger side (front and rear), these connect into the AFS master - The headlights will have two motors (up/down , left/right) each to move the xenon projector. These connect to the AFS slave attached to the headlight body - There is a twisted pair for CAN-bus comms between the AFS master and each AFS slave I think given the access cover came off, you almost certainly have water damage to either the AFS slave or electronics inside the headlight... If you can, it's definitely worth checking the AFS slave is clean with no corrosion. It might be worth getting the car scanned with VCDS or similar as that should confirm if it's a level sensor or something around the headlight
