Hi Rod, why have you not been offered a courtesy car, have you tried pushing for one?
  2. Wow, what a relief that must be for you, big 'thumbs up' for Lukes' dad.
  3. I must get around to that too - got a replacement header tank a few months ago.
  4. Hi Adam, welcome to the forum - if you wish to edit somethin you post, click on the 3 period-stops in the top right corner, you will see option to edit.
  5. Result, although that seems a rather unreasonable reaction to the new car!
  6. Hi Rich, welcome to the forum - pretty sure there's no jack supplied unless a spare wheel (full-size or space-saver) is fitted. At the very least, there should be the socket for the anti-theft wheel bolts, the tool for removing the decorative bolt caps and a tyre pump.
  7. Hi Sload, welcom to the forum - did the dealer supply you with a 2nd key? Some Timsons branches are able to code replacement at half the price Langers quoted.
  8. VW North America is also using the 1.4 instead of the 1.5, which is interesting.
  9. That is very poor, consider, if this is the way they are acting even before the sale is completed, what will they be like if, heaven forbid, you have a warranty issue once you take delivery? Personally, i'd ditch this dealer (name and shame) They certainly do not deserve your custom. Do you have other dealer options?
  10. I get around 420 miles with approx. 4 to 6 litres left in the tank - this is mainly commuting mileage in built-up areas. Pretty happy with that. 500 miles pretty easily achieved on motorway in past.
  11. Hi, welcome to the forum, I suspect that you may have a problem with your battery SOC - perhaps a sudden drop in voltage when the engine stops, triggering a restart. Any of the many other factors that allow automatic stop/start will normally just prevent the stop from being triggered, Ie. engine keeps running and the symbol is displayed on the top line of the maxidot. Two things that might be causing your restart - slightly turning the steering-wheel, or changing the pressure on the brake-pedal.
  12. Hi Truckbus, if the new battery isn't coded into the system, any fault in the old battery that the system was allowing-for will be assumed to still be present - coding in, at least, a different serial number for the battery tells the charging system to accept the change and adopt the correct profile for a good battery.
  13. Hi S_T, welcome to the forum. Personally, I'd go for the manual unless you really hate changing gear yourself. My M6 Octavia regularly gets 40MPG and above on my commutes - closer to 50 on longer runs.
  14. yes, I believe that is the case, wiring harness pre-installed, should just require the hardware (and possibly, coding)
  15. Hi Biggles, was there any explanation for the Admin fee? I suspect chancing it as BoxerBoy says. Just tell them no.
  16. Hi Gumdrop, I can't speak for the 1.5, but my 1.4 does appear to be slightly more economical with Mov.99 - runs fine on 95 octane, but even with the higher cost, I believe I come out slightly ahead using 99. I would be interested to hear how your DSG manages when using engine stop-start.
  17. Hi Staro, I'd be a little suspicious of the fact that your charge indicator goes from 'amber to green within 5 minutes' - yes the battery MAY be fully charged, but your nice new battery may also be a dud. Have you checked the battery voltage with lights, heated screens etc. switched on (with engine off) ? This will give a better indication of actual battery health.
  18. As we are all in the same 'family' I'm sure most reasonable members won't hold your choice against you.
  19. One of the blessings of a manual box, you can choose to hold for a short period on the clutch pedal if you don't want the engine to stop.
  20. Thanks for that JR, gives me a clue on where to look.
  21. Can anyone help me find a home for this piece of plastic trim? I found it on the floor of the rear passenger footwell, but for the life of me I can't find where it came from! I will try later to put up a photo of it. Iv'e tried keying in the number on Google, but it just comes back as "trim"
  22. Hi welcome to the forum, I think you will find that the steering is not actually locking - just getting very 'heavy' due to the electric assisted power-steering disabling on engine-stop. If you do try to turn the wheel, the engine should start. Are your front tyre pressures correct?
  23. Hi, welcome to the forum. Was the clutch release bearing checked at the time? A noise when pushing-in the clutch suggests a failing release bearing to me.
  24. Unless the 2017 model is markedly different from MY16, my understanding is that the radio and navigation aerials are separate - 'Shark fin' on roof for Sat-nav, the radio aerial is incorporated into the rear quarter-window glass.
  25. Hi Nevals, a full charge to 100% will really be of benefit to the battery. Is your battery still the original? Is it EFB - or AGM?
