  1. Yes, according to Wikipedia.
  2. We have a saying about people like him; "The man who never made a mistake never made anything".
  3. @TheIrishFabia If you have FSIII callipers, it is literally cast into the outer side of the callipers.
  4. It's probably easier if you have FSIII callipers to stop at 280mm discs.
  5. Well mate, the stealer offered me £Lots. Match that and I'll can chase them for a discount.
  6. @KScout There is a device called a "hygrometer" which will let you check the specific gravity of the coolant.
  7. Ok, does the battery light come on when you switch the ignition on or not?
  8. By this argument Southampton is not on a coast because Isle of Wight, Oban because Carrera...
  9. Not just "could be" but actually "is" a switch, specifically a "pull to make" switch operated by pulling the dip stalk towards you to flash the headlights rather than pushing it away to select main beam.
  10. A wee bit. Walsall to Manchester is 79 or 80 miles by actual roads. There may be shorter routes to docks on the Manchester Ship Canal, but I don't know the said canal well enough to be certain.
  11. My understanding was that the standard fit is just an electronic immobiliser (as per my car). I also note that Wolfgang more or less demands a 5* rating for his answer and suggests using a Chinese clone of RossTech VCDS. Does this sound like someone you should trust?
  12. I think the square contains the oil pressure sender. These sometimes leak. I'd suggest wiping it clean, and seeing if you get oil on again before replacing. BTW @Breezy_Pete posted while I was typing this.
  13. It looks plausible. Can you reach them with a screwdriver? If not, a new expansion bottle was about £25 the last time I looked.
  14. OK, with the engine cold. if you open the expansion bottle, can you see a couple of metal prongs sticking into the coolant? If yes, rub a fairly wide straight blade screwdriver down each one a few times. This should stop the spurious overheat warnings for a year or 3. If no, then I'm afraid you need to replace the bottle (maybe GB£20).
  15. As this reads, you're missing the bit where the maximum permitted height is not the same as the mechanical height limit.
  16. @Joe41 Despite JayOrr's implication. ex taxi mk1s from 2008 (mostly Classic trim SDI or Ambiante trim TDi) are pretty common in the West of Scotland.
  17. Never speak about cars to whoever told you this ever again! The charge warning lamp only illuminates when there is an actual discharge on the battery (and maybe not then if this car has an alternator exciter wire).
  18. Welcome to the random number generator.
  19. No. but you could try "A for Audi", which will be about half the labour rate of a main stealer.
  20. @Ata84 Best suggestions are alternator control wires, or sprague clutch not engaging (if fitted).
  21. No problems; that suggests that the glow plugs and control box are OK.
  22. Also @DAVEEVO Fine as far as it goes. Do you get white smoke (probably smelling of DERV) on a cold start?
