  1. My ex's 2005 Fabia didn't have any battery coding - principally because it didn't have stop/start, so I don't expect your 2004 Fabia will need coding either.
  2. Do you have rain sensing or plain intermittent wipers?
  3. I saw this on my previous 1.4TSI Octavia estate and was initially puzzled by it, but as said it seems to be a normal part of the underbody protection.
  4. It's always been said on the Ross-Tech (the makers of VCDS) website that if you get the wrong "colour code" airbag module then they know of no way to convert it to one with the correct colour code?
  5. Over 30 years ago I was leading a team at an automotive consultancy which had developed an engine sound synthesiser based on measurements of REAL engines, my company Vauxhall could be made to sound like an American V8, a German flat-6 or a highly tuned inline 4. None of the car manufacturers were interested then but with EVs (and even some ICE vehicles) now having sound generators that might not have been one of their better decisions - another case of our work being ahead of the market need 😎
  6. That's reminded me just how much I miss the sound of the high revving V8 in my previous Audi RS4 🥲
  7. Ask any Skoda dealer for a paper copy?
  8. I don't even have an Octavia 4!
  9. My Renault 5GT Turbo had a similar fan to cool the carb, made several people jump when it suddenly turned on a few moments after I turned off the engine! After having Brodie Brittan Racing 'do their thing' (negative camber front suspension and a boost tweak) that was a cross country beast (no ABS and no TC) - not surprising since it had 180bhp according to their dyno and weighed less than an empty baked bean can!
  10. With an SD card plugged in I have 8 devices on my PC (5 local and 3 NAS) and never yet(!) formatted the wrong one. Why format instead of delete? - as I said it's much quicker, because it only writes to the FAT so it also has less effect on the SD card life (like all electrically erasable devices they have a finite number of write cycles).
  11. Reformatting using quick format is much quicker than deleting the existing files & folders.
  12. AFAIK that's certainly how both CarPlay and Android Auto work - initial connection using Bluetooth which is used to initiate a WiFi connection (not sure Bluetooth could offer the latency and data rate needed?).
  13. Note if you have an Amundsen you MUST use a genuine Skoda SD card, a normal SD card will not work.
  14. If that 'losing 1.5PSI in less than a month' were true we would all be needing to pump up our car tyres on a monthly basis (at least), I check my tyre pressures every week and they have not changed in the last 6 months despite being filled with 'normal' air. My understanding is that the benefit of filling with Nitrogen is that because the process of separating Nitrogen from air involves cooling the Nitrogen obtained is dehumidified and it is this lack of water vapour that reduces the (relatively small but important in motorsport) pressure increases that occur when tyres heat up.

Mind sharing how this was solved?
  16. Which microchips in which modules? Not all modules in the cars use the same microchips, so it's very probable that some modules can be fitted to cars because all the microchips are available for them but other modules cannot be built by the suppliers. So depending on the specification and the options some cars can be fully built, some part built and some maybe not even worth starting to build if the microchips missing are in a critical assembly (e.g. engine, DSG, etc.).
  17. Just wire the push button between the terminals on the ignition switch that are ignition switched power and starter solenoid energising. How do you mean "the other way"?
  18. HBA and Light Assist are 2 different options. My previous 2015 Octavia had HBA not Light Assist so there was no Light Assist menu in the infotainment and no HBA menu in the infotainment either.
  19. ...to avoid confusion it's a good idea to keep your profile up-to-date 😘
  20. The Thule bars from my Audi B7 RS4 (06 plate) fitted my Octavia 3 Combi with no mods. The Thule website lists their part numbers by vehicle, if the same part numbers are shown for both your vehicles then they will fit.
  21. Original battery no, an identical replacement battery will need the serial number held in the battery management system updating (just change 1 digit).
  22. Over 25 years ago I had exactly the same thing happen on a Vauxhall Corsa GSi 16V, so this isn't a VAG specific issue. The cambelt tensioner failed one week after a cambelt change (the main dealer replaced the belt but not the tensioner). We want high compression engines for efficiency, emissions, power, etc and that means having valves that will hit the pistons if incorrectly timed - we can't have our cake and eat it.
  23. We would be failing our moral duty of care if we didn't point out when something illegal was being asked about.
  24. I agree. The GPS speedo is the accurate one, the car speedo will have been set at the factory to meet the legal requirement of never under reading and not over reading by more than 10% - hence the typical over reading by 5-7%.
  25. and that both Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled on the phone.
