What did you do to your Skoda today?

Finally found some time to get back to glossifying my vent surrounds. Gloss black is boring, so trying to add some subtle red. Probably barely even noticed it once reftted. Work in progress at the moment though.

Would be good to see some after shots when they are all re-fitted Ian :) I like the idea

Just fetched and replaced the inspection bung in the flywheel housing on mine after it mysteriously went awol.

Left it in the garage while I use a Golf Mk7 GT TDi. Seems very nice and exceptionally quiet. Review elsewhere on here when I've written it.

Tried my first mod; removing the headlight washer fuse to cut down the washer consumption. When the fuse box cover did not seem to be where the manual said it is gave up deciding the whole thing was far too ambitious for me. If at first you don't succeed give up is always my mantra. So just put another 5l of Tesco's very best washer fluid in the tank. Checked oil level. Not bothered to do this to a car since 1984, it must be love. Does not seem to have used any in the first 1700miles by the way. Kicked tyres, they seemed fine.

Tried second mod. Took the bloody luggage net out of boot. Success at first attempt. Looks much better. Got 5p off per litre of fuel voucher at Tescos. Decided enough excitement for one day.

First removed the grille, and battled with the badge to get the barsteward off!

Then cleaned up all the glue, with nail polish remover of all things, and attached the new badge. Standard OEM one.

At this point I also raided SWMBO's nail art pens and found a black one to sort out the few stonechips I had picked up.

Note: if you value your life, do not do this, SWMBO get angry ;-)

Washed and applied some £2,230 wax to it, checked fluids and tyre pressures.

Cheers. Won't be refitting for a few days when all bits are ready ( I keep doing more, need to stop before it's OTT :giggle: ), but will have some shots when it's all back together.

How it looks so far though, useless phone camera doesn't do it justice, and needs tidied up and laquered anyway :p.

Tweeked my carbon ITG kit to sit better, and modified the R8 cap I've had sat in the glovebox for ages to fit and sit the right way around.

Just a shame about the poor paintjob the previous owner did on the engine cover, and the iPhone camera quality.

Fitted 2nd boot hook and boot bag in the Octy. I bought for practicality yet in practice the boot is too damn big and stuff just moves about in it, got these to try and help a bit

Boot net and mat help a lot in this regard, The net keeps things pinned down, the mat gives some grip and stops things moving around on the boot carpet.

Recommended :)

Swapped the standard steelies off my Fabia for some Fabia Alloys looks and feels much better!

Tires were worn right down on the old tires so feels and drives much better.

Avoided a an idiot pulling out on me !

Yes! It works very very well when applied with care and patience. Wipers will not be needed half as much as before!

More priming, colouring and laquering of various bits.

Also removed chrome part of the grill to start sanding down to colour code. This is going to take a while...

Drove up M11 to Mother in Saffron Walden to set up her new broadband router.

Wished I had gone for the anti Middle Lane Hogger front and rear rocket launcher options. Probably no after market equipment available for that; bugger. Worked out how to cancel the warning bleep I had accidentally managed to set whenever I reached 22mph. (p.15 of the manual) Oh Joy.

Sorry should have clarified, already use it on the windscreen and it's something I'll never go back from!

I meant on the lights, does it keep them cleaner? I have the xenons, but no washers...

Yesterday I washed it with some new shampoo from Angelwax, very impressed, dried then slapped a coat of CG XXX on, plus I tidied up under the bonnet ridding it, temporarily no doubt, of all the salt / grime from the winter roads oh and cleaned my windows inside, I'll be cleaning and sealing the windows outside with my carlack twins on Sunday after it gets a wash ready for the NW meet :)

Just changed the oil & filter on mine, I've used Millers Nanodrive CFS 5w40 high performance oil - Not officially VW approved but I was speaking to Nigel at Millers and he said it's the best quality oil available for wear reduction and friction reducing properties with optimum levels of ZDDP, a few of the guys on Seat.net use it in their PD160 lumps.

Took it in for it's 20k service. Back down in a couple of weeks time for the wife's service (so to speak) and to have the (no-longer-looks-like) chrome replaced on the rear quarter-lights.

Removed the Winter Audi Alloys

Cleaned out the wheel arches and linings with APC

Painted the hubs silver

Refitted vRS Alloys and 10mm Spacers on the rear

I've been debating whether to put the summers back on but have decided to wait a while.

Bought and fit a decent battery this morning to replace the proxy 61Ah one that was fit as standard and has let me down twice recently, guy in ECP said you've got a good battery cheap there, I said its not as cheap as it should be because it should have come with a more suitable battery on in the first place but I did get a chocolate hob nob to munch on as well as a cracking battery at a cracking price .... Result

Put the summer wheels back on, cleaned the suspension and arches at the same time, than gave it a quick wash and gazed at the swirl marks :/ Detailing session required ASAP!

"2 year no polish guarantee" my a**e, Safegard!!
