Has anyone been given a delivery date for the Blackline Octavia VRS?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, fairly new here , ive ordered a new blackline estate in black and wondering should i have waited another 9 months to see the new vrs deals ? I felt the blackline deal with DSG was hard to refuse ?

I also thought about this but this is what swayed me towards the blackline

  • new octavia bigger (current model big enough imho)
  • new octavia £££s more
  • there will be no deals initially
  • leather extra
  • maxidot extra
  • rear sensors extra
  • sat nav extra
  • spare wheel extra
  • black wheels extra
  • Euro switch for wing mirrors extra...

From what I understand, if you want the current sized ocatvia in the new range you buy a rapid, which aren't selling well?!?

I am sure you made a wise choice.

I was initially a little disappointed with my new Blackline. I think I had a little buyers remorse.

Now? After 4 months ownership?

Well, apart from the problematic reversing sensors I now LOVE my Octavia.

My wife has now nicked it as her daily driver, as she hates our new mk3 Focus ST. I have to admit, I can't get along with the Focus though.

On a morning, I often stand at the upstairs window to wave goodbye to my wife and kids. But I can't take my eyes off the VRS. I honestly think it looks fab. And this is from someone who has owned many, many sporty cars over the last 20 years.

I love jumping into it on a weekend, and it's often the 1st choice of the 2 cars when we are going anywhere as a family.

I am glad you like it now, as I was gutted when you expressed disappointment. I have not driven mine for 6 weeks due to breaking my leg, but looking forward to getting back in it.

The irony is my Mrs was upset when I said I was getting a skoda, even more so when she some how convinced herself I was getting a superb and not a "grandad car" Octavia!!! Should have seen her face when I turned up at home the day I bought it. She said it's not got this, it's a bit that, I don't like it etc

Over the last three weeks she has driven it to take me and the family places (but using her fiat 500 for work), today she announced her love for my Blackline and insisted she takes it to work! Women confuse the hell out of me. Any way I said no, as it ain't being left on a rail way station car park all day :)

I love it, best car I have ever had.

I must admit I felt a bit of " what have I done!" when I read the first part of the hulksters post. I havent driven one yet so it was a bit of a gamble to order one that way. I have though driven quite a view diesels in the VAG group and was always impressed, saw the pictures of the blackline and knew I would have to buy one.

I work away from home so mine is going to be mostly driven by my wife, in fact I have traded in her old 4X4 and I havent told her yet! I just hope she likes it...

Anyway if she doesnt I will just buy her an old banger or she can get the bus. Should pick it up next weekend if I'm home and I cant wait, love buying new cars, swore I wouldnt buy another but heh ho.

No and yes!

I've 'only' got a manual hatch- You won't regret it. Like MD2 above best car I've ever owned. The driving experience between a vRS and a normal Octy is like night and day IMO, even if we have the diesel  . Look at it this way, you've got a vRS now, rather than in 12 months time, you've saved a fortune compared to what the new one will no doubt cost and if we're all lucky there will be another LE along in 3 years time (last ones were 09 plates) at another daft price.

Fingers crossed....... ;)

My feedback on Blackline ownership.

Engine - lots of grunt the Leon FR I had previous was a petrol and just cried to be thrashed. The diesel makes a more relaxed drive but great torque. Different obviously but I have not complaints.

Inside - I HATE having to press the frigid button on the key fob multiple time to open the car, why do Skoda do this?? Seat = 1 push everything open, simpes

Driving position - spot on. I'm 6 foot and fit perfectly, steering wheel is good

Seats - good but why oh why are they not heated, my arse has been freezin this week.

Radio - great, no complaints loving DAB in the motor

Paint - I have a mark on the roof. Appeared day 2. Not sure what is is but dealer said they would fix no probs so not getting excited about it

Mark,

You should be able to change the central locking in the maxidot. I changed it from all doors to just the drivers on my SE plus so you should be able to swap it to what you want.

Wotcha.

Just introduced myself in the intro section.

from what Im told, Ive recently ordered the last candy white DSG blackline available?! could be salesman bullsh1t but either way, it cant come soon enough!

Frustratingly its on Grimsby Docks, and I leave less then 20miles from there!

Will keep you tuned.

p.s my current 2006 vrs estate (petrol) will be going in the for sale section soon.

Anyone else had a problem with the SatNav in their blackline. Mine does not update position and thinks my car is sat just off the coast of Claction and im always 8 miles from home.

It seems a little confused....Dealer sorting it but said it could be aerial problem and would need investigating. Thanks God for warranties

Does anyone know if you can check the status of the Aerial/Antenna using VCDS as its not going to dealers til next week as they cant fit us in and supply a Car to replace ours

Mark,

You should be able to change the central locking in the maxidot.

This was one of the first things I on mine, as the "single door" system on my old Fabia vRS bugged my wife no end

Bluetooth coded now; basically full GSM II prep. Still beyond me why SUK didnt add this from the factory! Now just to install the mic.

By the way when coded would appear that the car needs to be turned off for approx 20 mins for the maxidot/MFSW integration to start working. Dont panic that it doesnt appear right away.

pipsyp - Would you mind me asking where you got it coded? Ordering a mic today. and forgive my lack of knowledge, but what is full GSM II prep?

Regards

Joe

Hi Joe,

MS Autos in Reading, a VAG specialists.

GSM II is basically HFP Bluetooth, no r SAP (whereby the car remotely accesses your SIM and becomes the phone) like GSM III.

Unbelievably the Amundsen + has built in Bluetooth (is a VW RNS315 rebadged) but not enables from factory. Coding is a 5 min job with VCDS, mic install a little challenging but gather takes no more than 30 mins. There is a thread all about how to do it on here somewhere.

Well I picked my Candy White manual estate from DM Kieth Wakefield last night and having reread this thread, here are a few observations:

  • Car looks even more stunning in the metal than the pictures with the white/black contrast looking great and the red brake calipers look awesome. Having seen the other colours though, I don't think anyone will be disappointed.
  • I was a tad disappointed with the leather seats. I was hoping for a nice colourful VRS emblem on them but maybe the understated look is better. Very comfy though.
  • The bluetooth definately doesn't work despite the salesman betting me that it did and that we try to pair my phone....I won!!
  • Amundsen appears to play MP4 format songs unlike the radio in my Yeti and the manual insisting that it won't.
  • I have a full size spare wheel and jack
  • The car has cruise control which was a nice suprise
  • I have a complementary bottle of oil plus a cargo net

All the above are important and an intergral part of the buying experience but all pale into insignificance when you drive the car. You hear people bang on about bhp which is important when you are bragging to your mates in the pub or thrashing round a track but in the real world, it's torque that talks. Learn to drive the car to maximise the torque and surf on the 350nm tidal wave of the stuff. On real roads, in real traffic and in real conditions you can't beat driving a performance diesel for the money.....in my opinion of course.......

Glad you are pleased!

As if to spite me, after praising my Blackline yesterday on here, my wife told me last night that as she was leaving Northallerton yesterday, the brake pedal on the Blackline was rock hard - causing her to nearly bump another car.

As a precaution I have taken the Blackline today - and it was fine. I'll have to either drive it till i'm convinced there is/isn't the fault - or waste a 60 mile round trip (twice!) to take it back to Derek Slacks for an investigation....

Bah! :wall:

She didn't activate the ABS did she? The pedal goes hard and pulses.

Hmmm. Not sure - but good suggestion.

I think she was still within the grounds of her works carpark/private road - so I doubt she would have been doing enough speed to bring the ABS on? I've certainly never brought the ABS into action and I drive much harder than her......

I had that same brake pedal stiffness happen to me before with my bocanegra. Only happened once tho and was immediately after starting the engine. Glad it never happened again..

fingers crossed

You don't have to be going fast to activate the ABS....I've done it on my drive. Mainly caused by slippery conditions.
