We had them back at the school I went to and they were pretty reliable (T420 were the newest ones) even though the little brats pulled the keys off 'em.

About 18 months ago, bought a bed from Oakfurniture Land and also purchased the "aftercare package" which was some wax treatment for the bed frame and an insurance policy against damage/breakage etc. Only cost us £50 or so and lasted for 5 years, so hardly going to miss a tenner a year.

 

One of the side-rails recently developed a 6-inch crack half-way along it, so phoned up about the insurance policy and got the ball rolling.

 

6 months pass, and finally a technician turns up to have a look. "All I can do" he says arms crossed "is put some screws in and glue it. That's what I've been told to do" so I politely refuse and say when we took out the policy, we were told it would be replaced (and all that guff) like-for-like. He sends off his report (Monday this week) and I prepare to wait another 6 months to hear back.

 

HOWEVER, had an email in my inbox today saying that the insurance will give us the value of the bed (when originally purchased) because they no-longer make it, so can't give us any new parts  

 

Winner-winner, take-way and beer for dinner!

Well no squatters so that's a result 👍

Garden is OK considering it's been 18 months, apart from having the "grass" cut, Roses and Wisteria have gone mental though. 

The pic is of one length of Wisteria that was on the ground around the border.

Contrary to EU press a lot of us in UK do not have to queue for fuel. i've got a picture in my head of a little boy, who after months of his parents stockpiling tins of food in his room ,meaning he has to use a ladder to get in his bed, now finds he cannot play with his model railway in the garage ,as the table is now propped high on fuel cans 😁

I didn't have to queue for petrol, as most of the petrol stations around here have simply shut the pumps off and covered them in bollards and zebra tape...looks like a crime scene tbh

they did the same thing to me in June, and then wouldnt issue me a business use indemnity letter so i had to move anyway, even after they said theyd honour the new customer rate... muppets..

I never respond to surveys. I just ask the meerkats and they always find me a cheaper quote with another broker . i'm always amazed that every time the insurer is the same company. I suspect "brand new customer" policy. if so I'm not ashamed to be a new customer elsewhere. Brokers loss is my gain.

Finding out that my car, which was in serious negative equity at the beginning of lockdown, now contains around £8-9K of positive equity!!
