Is there a foolproof way to check whether I have MIB1 or 2?

Look at the part number of the Skoda map SD card - if it starts 5E0 then you have a MIB1 Amundsen, if it starts 5L0 then you have a MIB2 Amundsen.

  • I have updated my Amundsen from 0435 to a newer version which can be found on the net. I don't want to share the link here to avoid deletion but I will kindly PM it together with the instructions.

  • If you have instructions they'd be appreciated

  • Guys,   From now on a newer firmware is available for MIB1 Bolero/Amundsen. I have installed it without issues. Users previously contacted me: check your PMs. Others just contact me for the deta

So there I go. My part number starts with 5L0. Then I should find another thread... Thanks for everything!

Note, 5E0 cards (mib1) also work in mib2 units if you load mib2 maps onto them. The current smaller region maps will fit on the 8gb 5E0 cards.

For completeness, will the 5L0 cards work in a MIB1 Amundsen?

I knew you were going to ask that.

I don't have an MIB1 unit to test one in I'm sorry to say.

I'll have to get a 5L0 card off eBay, load the MIB1 maps onto it and try ...

For testing purposes, I can let you have one cheap.

Thanks, just had a rummage in my big pile of various SD cards and found a 5L0 one I never knew I had B)

Will report back...

VCDS or VAS is needed for the last step of updating (to confirm SW version change and clear some fault codes).

This update is suitable for MIB1 Amundsen and Bolero and can solve some issues (sound quality, FM reception, graphics, touchscreen).

In my case (0435 Amundsen with Canton) I noticed the following:

- far better playback quality (decoding) of lower bitrate mp3's (now it's hard to tell the difference between 192 and 320 kbps)

- some change in EQ frequencies (slightly deeper bass / clearer treble)

- noticeable gain in treble (now +6 is like +9 before)

- some gain in maximum volume without automatic bass limitation

- better shuffle playback algorythm in case of hundreds of mp3's in the same folder (mine kept repeating the same 40-50 mp3's)

- better (but still not perfect) access of SD card on start (occassionally the HU still switches to CD/radio)

I never listen to the radio so can't tell anything about FM reception. :)

UPDATE IS DONE AT EVERYBODY'S OWN RISK!!!

would you be able to help, thnx

Hi aki78,

Could you please send me an instruction for update process :)? I have download the file name MIB1_STD_EU_SK_P5330_SW0490 from web which is I believe latest version for 5E0 051 236C Amundsen device in my Octavia 2014. Many thanks :).

For reference, an MIB2 card loaded with MIB1 maps will work in an MIB1 unit. And an MIB1 card loaded with maps small enough will work in an MIB2 unit.

Hi can someone lsend me link?

Just got chance to try a MIB2 card with MIB1 maps in my MIB1 unit, and can confirm what Rustynuts says - so I now have 3 usable map SD cards (all bought on eBay).

Hi, my 2013 Octavia Amunsen is on Software 0132, can someone please PM an update link?

Anyone wanting a link to the firmware should read the notes on the YouTube video below, it should help {link removed at OP's request as it was incorrect}

@john999boy why are you editing my posts above to insert a link? why not just create your own link in your own post, don't want to sound funny but now it looks like I've quoted an incorrect link when I didn't even post a link!

Lol @BATVANVRS.

I edited your post as you'd quoted another member's post that he had said, by way of a Report, was inaccurate.

If you actually look at your post you will notice there aren't any hyperlinks at all now.

Hope that clarifies?

Lol @john999boy I didn't even notice that to be honest, I just thought someone was trying to muscle in on my turf :D :giggle: but fair's fair, cheers for sorting out B)
