Let's not go into the tyre discussion - there is a different topic for that. The point what I was saying is that the P7-s are noisy and create a lot of vibration on rough tarmac. Swapping them to anything softer would result in lower noise without the need to tear the car apart.

(I personally went for the Maxxis Premitra HP5 as an experiment but proved to be much quieter and grippier than the original P7s that the car came with.)

Thanks!

I regret buying the Superb.

For the money I paid I Could have bought a used (low milage) Audi or a BMW or a Merc that had perfect Noise insulation from the factory.

Superb is actually not that noisy with proper tyres. Yes, you canot compare it to Audi A6 but you can damn well compare it to A4 or C-class Mercedes.

There are two noisy tyres that Superb comes with. First is Pirelli P7 and second Conti SportContact. Of those two, I actually like Conti more as it has way better grip on wet and is rather silent on even tarmac. But when it comes to uneven tarmac, Conti is LOUD.

And if you have all hands and legs (or most) attatched to your body, then you can make your Superb very very quiet (or pay someone to do it). I recently made some measurements and my Superb is in terms of cabin noise at the level of average Lexus (I do not have stock Superb in the meaning of sound deadening). And I still have lots in my todo list that will improve cabin silence even further.

Me too. But not because of noise insulation (that project is VERY fun to do my self) but because of the issues I have with the car. Front suspension is noisy as hell (we have really messed up roads in Maribor), sometimes it also feels like its unstable (potholes not on even surface - DCC on normal) and I have hydraulic bearings issue on rear (sounds like something would be jumping in trunk/boot), very noisy and rattle in door (one was fixed, now I got window going up rattle, dealer doesn't even check). Car is 10 months old and dealer fixed 8 out of 12 issues (that I know off so far). I also have damaged rims from small stones on road and ofc no warranty covers that. What can I do about the damn sand that they cover roads with??? There is a lot more, but most are small things.

So much money  for the car (37.000€ and some) and dealer doesn't even reply to my emails (explaining that the issue is back) and when I call it they keep saying (for 2 months now) that they're waiting reply from factory what to do about it. I changed 3 official skoda services because they didn't fix a thing. I enjoyed maybe first 2 months with this car, till issues started. Now I'm sorry that I bought Skoda. My family had about 5 Skodas before me, one even saved my life in very high speed car crash but now, I'm done. Next ride is defo BMW/AUDI/Mercedes. I'm also disappointed by the engine to some stage, 190hp feels worse than 150hp. At least 0-120km/h (comparing to the replacement car I had for a week while I was waiting for repairs). Almost 1L less fuel consumption as well. WTF?

Back to the topic. What did you guys do about plastics like at drivers side the trim around buttons for windows is making really loud noises. Specially when I touch handle or when I drive I sometimes I put my left leg on "resting" plate and then my knee touches doors. Noise party starts there. Big time. Lately I also hear resonances from doors when listening at high volume, strange. If I knock on doors for example, it sounds like some minor anti-vibration is already applied which surprised me.

I will test this but in such case I think that Tesa textile tape comes in handy (door window bottons panel noise). I have this in my projects list though I never had overly bad creacks from there but still some. Will post pictures when I'm done.

Door panels have zero resonance but rattling with high music volume is a "key feature" for most of the VAG cars. Adding some strips of vibration mats there helps hugely (+15mm absorber).

From stock, door panels have no anti-vibration materials but they are partly made of soft non-plastic stuff that might give such expression (for example door pocket backside has no plastic under the carpet).

I 100% agree

I will never buy a Skoda again

I had forgot to mention that I made one more plastic part (two actually) to loose it's noisiness. Picture attatched.

Used 7mm Silent Coat Sound Absorber as per usual.

Why so much trouble and work and money for a buget car, not propelly designed by the factory???

Budget build but rather pricey at the same time

I agree with you 100% that Superb has some design flaws from factory and those are mostly from excess money saving and from fact that demmand for Skodas is a bit higher than factories can handle.

But as you said so smartly, Superb is a budget car. I would bot say it's a complete budget car as it is not but still there is rater big difference if you pay, for example 35 000 euros for Superb or 57 000 euros for Audi A6 (prices start from there in Estonia).

Personally I love doing sound deadening to my Superb. I find it as a form of meditation and would probably do the same with A6:D

Yes, I could buy a smaller premium car for much less than 57 000 but smaller car than Superb would not be an option for me. Nor buying a used car.

It is very kind of you @Alan_P but Rolls Royse Phantom 8 insurance payments would probably banckrupt me and every trip to annual service would most likely be as long as @MartiniB Europe's road trip :D:D:D

That looks good! Need to check manual how to get controls off. Also need to buy some material to put there ^^.

Your signature banner is soo Skoda. Its not that I don't like the size, the design of the car. I even don't mind the issues. As long as the manufacture admits them and FIXES them when the model gets older. That's why I bought Skoda and not Audi. Cause I don't mind a issue there and there. But then the dealer doesn't want to take it as issue or tell me its normal then I'm getting really ****ed off. I actually expected to have some sort of issues when I bought the car. I honestly don't have 57.000€ for an A6. A4 is too small for me too. I hardly afforded Superb to be honest. But hardly afforded car, for what I pay almost 1/4 of my paycheck a month (averaged per 6 year of the "warranty", I cashed out car cause I was saving)  and then dealer tells me that these noises are normal? Or that they don't know where it comes from so they can't claim warranty from skoda. Then I'm like what the hell are you here for then? Isn't your job to figure out what the hell is making the noise??? It took 1 month to get appointment after which they fixed nothing. When I had oil change, 3 days and I had oil change.

Also, I had 6 months of wind noise in my car because factory didn't setup doors properly. Dealer also didn't want to fix it. So I had to DIY it... I mean really?

Honestly I found such a small diference between my 1.4 TSI Octavia and the Superb in terms  of built quality and Noise insulation that I will not recommend the Superb to anyone

@JackySi, I really dont understand how there are such Skoda dealers out there:blink: I read horror stories from UK Skoda dealers and I just don't understand how this can be.

Here in Estonia we have two Skoda dealers and experience with both of them has been exeptional. If there is something wrong, you book an apointment and things get fixed without further questions. Yes, sometimes it might take more than one time as it was with my from left light. First time they thought it's a problem of cables and booked a relatively short time but instead there was proble, somewere deeper so they booked a new time. Second time they removed the bumper and the light but were unable to fix it so thet ordered a new light instead. So yes, I had to go there 3 times with same error and was not happy about it but then again, they did all they could and got it fixed.

Depends actually. I have seen inside (in term of sound deadening) of both Octavia and Superb and Superb has more sound isolation materials from factory. Especially when we talk about roof.

Also, Superb's interior materials tend to be better and there is more soft materials used.

But true you are, Superb's and Octavia are very similar and their price difference is not actually that huge.

Wish we had that here. Instead they say its not an issue (its normal)  or that it will get better over time or that they're waiting for Skoda to reply (i get that, but 2months, not.) or that they can't find source of issue, so that's it then. Nothing else can be done.
They replaced front wishbone bushings and suspension was fine for a while, also the hydraulic bushings (Rear) I had 2 days noise free rides (about 400km). The bushings cost 28€ each and the wishbone bushings about 6€ each. I'm waiting factory response for those 2 for more than month. Ah, brb going to call dealership again to ask if there is any progress. Again :=). No replies on mails, ever. I will probably have to repair these 2 issues out of my pocket. So i wonder what the warranty is for.

Sorry for the annoying posts, wrong topic. Just got carried away a little.

@nodigital sorry but can u show how u jacked up via alternative method? I cant get jackstands at same time no space. I'm afraid to use any other point without some confirmation/pic :-) thanks for all contributions anyhow!

I have rubber pad also.

I jacked with a block of wood to distribute the weight on the arm where the spring is.  Highlight shows the width, obviously to the left side of the protruding nut:

Note this is not an official point but its flat and must be pretty strong as its supporting the spring.   For me this worked and I used the jack point as additional safety support.  Advantage was  it doesn't take much to compress the spring when jacked so I didnt have to lift it far.

I have decided to Noise insulate my car.

Has anyone worked with Teroson products:

Teroson PU 250 SD or 9500 or BT 350?

Does someone knows the cord for laminated front Windows?

I know Teroson PU 9500 but have no experience with Teroson BT 350. Personally I would not use BT 350 as there are better and more cost effective anti-vibration mats available. For example STP or Silent Coat (even Dynamat if you are on a spending spree).

Teroson PU 9500 you would need at the very end of sound deadening process (in my honest opinion). Biggest gain place for it would be B-pillar upper part as it is hard to access with other materials.

There are already a lot of things covered (in terms of sound deadening) in this very forum thread but if you would need any help or advice, then let me know. My honest advice would be going step by step. Outside wheel arches and hood first, then doors and pillars, then boot floor, then boot walls and lid, then front floor, then rear arches, then rear floor and under the rear seat, then roof and after that PU 9500.

Can't help you with the laminated front windows product codes but most of the noise is not coming from the windows. Even if it seems so at the beginning (sounds can play crazy games in the cabin).
