What have you done to your Superb III today?

Featured Replies

Got the intercooler upgraded on Gandalf, to the IE FDS version.

much larger core than the factory version.

should help with the little IS20 turbo to last longer and not run out of puff so quickly.

should also help with keeping the IATs down during the warm/hot summer months.

whilst the car was up, i got the last of the aero under trays fitted - in this case the centre exhaust cover.

Long version of the Engine undertray plus Centre Exhaust cover in place now....

Looks great!
Can yo please share under cover item product codes? I also pay attention a bit under engine cover of mine is also having one larger passive cooling hole.
What is the function of center exhaust cover?

The centre exhaust tunnel cover is just meant to keep the under of the vehicle more flatter.

The theory/claims r that all the aero combined helps with smoother airflow under the car, meaning less turbulence, cabin noise and better fuel economy.

Part numbers as follows:-

5Q0 825 236Q (x1) - front aero tray
WHT 000 729 A (x3) - hexagon socket head bolt, self-locking,(M8x20mm)

5Q0 825 229 C (x1) - Lining (cover) long length WITH heat shield material on reverse

N 038 549 4 (x4) - Black plastic push rivet A04A

Looks good.
But with my tuning DP it wouldn't fit at all, it's just too deep for that. 😅

It's questionable whether every engine can handle it. Not that the 280 is then too warm?!

It's also really chic, I actually have it on the plan too. But I would buy from HG Motorsport, since there is an expert opinion for D.

Did you do the pressure pipes at the same time? The OEM are just plastic parts.

highly doubt that - aftermarket downpipes won't b impacted by that cover.

It has been used by many Golf R owners, which uses the same engine as the 280, so there won't b any issues with the engine being able to handle it.

I haven't changed the factory intercooler pipes - the OEM ones r more than enough for Stage 1.

Minor service, new front brake pads and after 2.5 years of fighting with a reluctant electric tailgate, I've finally bitten the bullet and replaced the electric struts with the Chinese copies from eBay. At £196 they are about a quarter of the price of the genuine Skoda ones. Let's hope they last a few years.

So encouraged by @JR RSI mounted front engine cover and center exhaust tunnel cover few days ago on my SIII 1.5 TSI DADA from 2019. Can confirm part number indicated by @JR RSare fine and there was no problem with doing the job (of course needed to get under the car). Can also confirm the feeling of smoother, less engine noise and better airflow while driving. No change with oil temperature but still waiting for some warmer days to verify this. Undoubtedly mod worth doing. Unfortunately couldn't take pics after doing the job.

Booked my next annual service with a local independent garage.

For the past six years, the only people to service my car is the dealer that sold it to me. I can't fault their work (Marshall's Croydon) but it is a 30-minute drive there, two train rides and a 45-minute drive home. My local garage has a good reputation, I have used them on previous vehicles, and the Big Red Bus is no longer under warranty. Oh yeah, the local garage is a two-minute walk from home. It actually takes longer to drive the car there!

My first service with them will be a minor service and MOT, but I have asked that they give the car a very good look over. I want to keep the most reliable car I've ever owned in top condition at least until Mayor Khan makes it obsolete.

Switched out the rear indicator & reverse light bulbs for LEDs.

Are they registered to update the online service history?
just make sure you get the print out at the end to confirm it’s been added :) don’t want to spoil your full service history

Yep, one of the first things I did, as the original reversing lamps were useless and did the blinkers at the same time.

I actually bought the bulbs last year and misplaced them. Did a bit of a shed tidy up earlier in the week and uncovered them.

Air con recharge @ ATS. Needed 300ml of refrigerant to top up. Working far better now.

Just fitted this rear camera from AliExpress, https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000230897829.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.11.79f21802B5duGe

It just plug and play but do not use the car radio removal keys that come with it as one got stuck in the slot and was a plain to get out,

Here is others that done it

Might be interested in doing this myself.

Was there much trim removal & coding required?

How come your 2016 L&K didn’t have an OE cam fitted, Colin?  Nevertheless, seems like a bargain for £35! Use mine every day and wouldn’t be without one now.

I think it might it have been an optional extra as mine doesn't have one either, instead  it has the dreadful ParkPilot.

Since it's been raining every other day for the last 2 months almost i haven't done a proper wash of the car for a while, only rinsed it off a couple of times.

The weather forecast for the upcoming week shows no signs of rain so today it was time for a proper wash with some ceramic detailer to top it off.

And when you take some time and do a proper wash you always notice all rockchips, scratches and that kind of not so funny stuff 😏

The paint on these cars have to be really sensitive or it's maybe the color of the car 🤷‍♂️

Good thing it looks good on distance because up close it looks horrible in my eyes but it might just be that i am as my wife says "oversensitive" 😝

I guess it was not included back then. No sunroof either bit it does have that awful self parallel parking thing which I have never used.

My wife had a rear camera in her Karoq & in the replacement Kona. Seems to be a standard fit item on mid & top spec cars these days but not back in 2016 on an L&K.

For £35 I might give it a go but if it needs a load of coding then I might pass cos I don't have the gear to do it. There again there might be local members with the software thing's to help out for the price of a few pints..

Hell for £35 It's a punt so just do it anyway.

Yup - that looks Business Grey.

I've got one myself.

Still as shiny as when I picked it up 6 yrs plus ago.

Please could you take photos of the camera itself now its installed to give an impression of how it looks externally and where you located the camera. I ask because I might do the same thing and on the horrible Qashqai I had a for a couple of months I was not impressed with the camera setup on it. It looked on the screen to be giving a really decent view of the area behind the car, but in reality it only showed approx the last 18" before you hit what ever was behind you, total crap in my view.

Tools needed/what I used

Trim Panel Removal 31pc

car stereo keys (don't use the ones in the kit one of them got stuck)

screwdriver bit T20

String/cable or telescopic magnetic

Remove the multimedia in the glovebox, cut the cable tie at the back on the main loom to to get the unit out, Test the kit NOW before fitting it all in and then find out it does not work. then remove the trim on the floor and around the door frames to the boot. (you can go by the roof but you may block the side airbags deploy by the wire) remove the trim on the boot lid be careful of the boot light cables there will be 3 T20 screws 1 on the leather strap remove the bigger trim part and the other 2 are on the topside on the boot trim. Now I had to wire it on the offside (driver) boot grommet as the Nearside had a lot on cables already in it, to unclip the handle it from the outside of the boot then clip in your new camera in and wire it all up. the only time I use a cable/ telescopic magnetic to route the cable was on the nearside rear piler/ part of the roof liner and the boot lid and there is NO CODING just plug and play, hope that helps. I have just found out today though is when in reverse the nearside mirror is not dropping now but that not a big problem
