What have you done to your Superb III today?

Featured Replies

Got my ABS sensor fixed. I had to do it twice because I got the wrong part first time.

Beware anyone attempting, make sure you find out the original part number and find a compatible one via autodoc or get it via Skoda.

Nice. I can highly

Recommend the paddle extensions listed on the Gandalf project by @JR RS

Today I spent half an hour faffing trying to swap and the tailgate lights on my Combi but for the life of me I couldn't get the supplied adapters from this listing to fit at either end. Not sure if it's wrong or just poor quality. But as is always the case, I got carried away ordering stuff from aliexpress. Todays order consists of; a fire extinguisher trunk storage bag (carrying one is something I really want to do, would love to figure out how to install oem style), a replacement brolly because the SKODA one that came with the car is broken, glued together and bent so it doesn't actually open... and I read the oem ones aren't particularly reliable. So we're trying an aliexpress special for now, but compact umbrellas can only get you so far, I also picked up an umbrella holder in case anyone ever gets me the fancy umbrella I put on my wishlist. Some wheel nut covers as I seem to be missing a few and it would be nice to put on a new set when she gets some nice shoes. The centre caps were also looking a bit naff, probably a long shot and not full of confidence but some centre cap covers too. I've had a dashcam and some trim removal tools for coming upto a year now but been too afraid to attempt the install especially given it's a two channel dashcam, but to potentially assist with that task I picked up some cloth tape and some cable rods and cable puller gubbins, lord knows, I'm terrified! And do you want to know what started off this whole order, I've been meaning to find a way to better organise the stuff I haul around in my boot as I've just been using two bags for life, so I got some magic tape and some mesh organizers with netting to hopefully just secure things out of the way. And naturally when you start doing this you see something like add two items and get £x off so we also picked up something called a car wiper repairer tool? and a washer fluid funnel type lid.

So, in summary, today I did nothing to my Skoda...

wow you really gor carried away in a junk shopping expedition! 😁

I am really interesting to hear how the "wiper blade repair tool" works!

I've done the fire extinghuisher thing, see towards the bottom of this page:

Sounds very much like my aliexpress shopping technique!

With those lights you have to open up the hole in the plastic trim slightly for them to fit. I just used a Stanley knife and it only takes maybe 2-3mm to be removed one end of the slot for them to clip in. The left side seems to have quite a lot of wiring behind the hole so just be mindful of that when wielding the knife!

For dashcam wiring, the front one you can just tuck wiring under the front edge of roof lining then down A pillar to the end of the dash. A pillar trim pulls off with two strong clips towards the centre of the windscreen from the top of the pillar then pulls up vertically out of the dash. The end panel of the dash prys open easily. Just make sure your wiring runs with the OEM loom and doesn’t cross in front of the airbag. For rear camera it’s a bit more tricky but most of the way you can just release plastic trim from the door seals and tuck under the trim. I would run low level past the doors, trickiest bit is past the pillar. Then tuck up the side of the leather trim by the rear bench. In the trunk the top edge plastic removes with a few Torx bolts hidden under hooks. Getting cable through tailgate to mount on the glass is really tricky. But I have seen on here somewhere that someone made a small bracket that tucks under the headliner so the camera is mounted to the back edge of the ceiling rather than on the glass of the tailgate which saves running the wires though the tailgate.

If you don’t have one already I can also highly recommend the Ali express plug and play reversing cameras. Cable route is pretty much the same as where you would run them for rear dashcam so could run them in at the same time! I’ve got links to all the AliExpress treats I’ve bought in my project thread. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/537947-superb-mk3-estate-190ps-tdi-dsg-my2015-se-l-executive-moon-white/
