I noticed Avon Tuning too! Haven't been in touch with them yet ref prices, let me know what you discover if you're gonna be talking to them!!

But do they build cars that compete in the BTCC. You tend to get what you pay for. My 272 feels like someone has slipped the 3.0V6 turbo from Audi S4 under the bonnet.

Something that I have noticed comparing my previous car (VRS245) to the current one is that in the Octavia (50 litre fuel tank) I could average about 110 miles per quarter tank (12.5 litres) whereas the Superb can average 150 miles per quarter tank (16.5 litres).:hi:

Hello Shy - meanwhile back at the ranch ! :sleepy:

Great topic to follow, I've just bought a '17 Superb 280 L&K (after coming from a 1.2 '66 Fabia Monte Carlo estate), and after 3 days of ownership it's absolutely ace! Will have to look at the momentum fuel if it's that cheap for 99, currently filled it with 95 so we'll see how that goes. Managed to make up a 38mpg 65 mile motorway journey the first day I had it, but have yet to see similar numbers driving the 5 mile commute through town! Great fun though, worth it for every smile per gallon.

Still not sure how confident I am at reverse parking though, haha.

Yeah after a Fabia Estate (I owned one for 4 years from 2010) the Superb is big barge to park. Welcome to the 280/272 clan and you may have seen bigeater had his 280 on a rolling road with 95 octane fuel and it only made 272bhp instead of the advertised 276 horses yet my car made 15bhp more than claimed on Momentum and I'm currently on target for 600 miles on my 4th tank of fuel so can't complain, power and good economy my specialty.

I didn't see Bigeater's post so thanks for sharing that, I think 272 might just do for this tank but I'm excited to feel the difference momentum can make! Never thought I'd say I'd be excited to fill up a car with petrol, but I guess that's the 280 effect, haha. I hope I'm not being rude by asking, but how much did the stage 1 remap hit your insurance? I love the idea of a sleeper Superb ever since I saw the mk2 3.6 catch air in a magazine review, and the gains I've seen on this engine look ace, but I can't help but feel it's going to be a huge annual hit to cover.

Also, personal curiousity, what was the reaction of friends and family first time you floored it with them in? I took the fiance out for a spin and there's a beautiful bit of slightly downhill dual carriageway available; flicked it into sports mode, confirmed if she was ready and WHAM: "******G HELL, you don't have to accelerate like that again when I'm in here". Priceless. I don't think I'd ever trade the look on her face and the laughter she had when she realised I'd not only bought a barge, but a steam train all rolled in together.

Depends on your postcode (mine is a low risk rural small town), I have CCTV cameras covering my driveway and front door, house is alarmed (where keys are) I'm 55 years young with a clean licence (no points 15 NCB) so mine only went up 10% which is about the norm so now pay £350 fully comp (was £318). Not taken my father out for a drive yet but sure he will find it surprising after his 2012 Superb 168bhp estate (diesel) which has the older 6 speed DSG box. Hopefully his heart can take it as he will be 79 in April. He has been in one of his friends 414bhp V8 M3 though which he couldn't stop raving about, performance and noise mainly.:)

Just a quick update (1 week until stage 1 remap) had the Superb 1 month now and covered 1,100 trouble free miles and the Long Term maxidot after 95 hours driving is showing average speed 34mph and 34.0mpg. Current third tank of Momentum is suggesting 603 miles but will fill up before heading to Grays in Essex next Tuesday. Some weeks you just want to go really quickly.:hi:

As a former 100+ / week Superb driver take heed ... the counts reset every so often (I suspect at 100 hours driving) so take pictures.

My dealer was going spare trying to get an answer from Skoda/VAG technical ... I used to track mpg etc as I took great pride in winding up Prius drivers - f'r instance I could get 74mpg out of a 120d BMW softtop on a 500mile run without causing traffic jams and peaking at (don't read this bit coppers) 'over' the speed limits. It's all about smooth driving and anticipation.

Anyway the onboard 'puter has a max recording time before it clears down. Maybe if linked to the app you could keep life records ?

Handy Hint #2 ... if the DAB suddenly refuses to tune in you'll need a cold boot of the infotainment system - click it off and hold the button in for ages - you'll see why ... restart with a long push too ...hey presto it restarts - also good when NAV goes offline.

Yeah thanks I know about the 99 hours 59 minutes reset, was looking forward to it because the former driver (SKODA HQ employee) had driven it for 4,887 miles and 160 hours at an average speed of 32mph and 32.5mpg all clear from the long term computer on my test drive. You can learn a lot of info from this for example average journey time and how the car has likely been driven. I am very smooth and look at least half a mile up the road and always know what is behind me after using the M1 on a regular basis since 1991.:notme:

No worries I was a bit confused.com I tend to do 250/300 miles per week or half a tank in the Superb.

Appreciate the honesty, Shy! Nearly double that price for me at the moment, but funnily enough it's only £80 more than the Fabia was to insure! So scale for scale I've been quite impressed. Might need to save a few pennies in the meantime, I have a feeling that a 'stage 1 + insurance cost' vs 'the same money going toward the holiday fund' discussion would go down like a lead balloon with the Mrs, haha.

Hope your dad enjoys the thrill! Similar state with my dad, one of his mates took him out in a first gen R8 a few years ago and he still talks about it now! Can't wait to let him try this out, bit different to his current manual Auris!

@shyVRS245 this is as good as it gets for me!

But, on an even more positive note, about to change my rinsed rear Contis (shot in under 10k miles) with my favourite GY F1 Assy 5s.

Picked them up today!

255 / 35 R19 96 Y XL FP

£114 each from Oponeo. Dealer wanted £174.68 🤣🤣

That's a good price for 255 rubber. Think my Bridgestones might last longer than 10,000 miles, however at the end of March when it's 1 year old going to put my 8.5J silver powder coated Audi RS6 alloys with 235/35R19 Michelin PS4S tyres back on for the summer months which will probably get warmed up at Santa Pod at some point. Need to paint my calipers at the same time to something other than boring silver. Car is having a rest as on holiday until Friday.

Yep, was pleased with the price, especially as I’ve had these on my last two vRSs and been very happy with them.

The 235/35 19s will be nice on yours.  Look forward to pics!

Just looks like any other Sportline!

I had 2 of my friends tell me that they like my car but think it looks too much like every other car so it's hard to tell apart (unlike the race blue fabia estate monte carlo). I couldn't be happier! Always loved the concept of a sleeper and think it just fits this car perfectly. I think I actually drive this 280 slower than the Fabia because I know the power's there if I want it, I just don't have to use it if I don't want to. Love it!

Ended up having to cross some flooded roads today too, very pleasantly surprised at the lack of drama with how the superb deals with puddles, nice to have the torque to just keep the bow wave going with very little concerns! Did make me wonder though, do you know if there's a way of unlocking an 'off-road' mode for the DCC which raises the car a touch?

I haven't got DCC but I would think only the Kodiaq would have such a facility when in OFF ROAD mode.

DCC only alters the firmness by modifying the oil flow via the damping valve inside the shocks, nothing to do with height adjust-ability.

Interesting to know. Not like the air-suspension on the VW Touareg then!!! That shifts up & down like a fairground ride sometimes!!

DCC is normally around £800-£900 option whereas the Audi air suspension is at least £2,000 option so you expect it to offer more for the extra you pay.
