If you want to see what great value a used 272 Superb is compare this recent example bearing in mind my car last December was £23,840 with 4,900 miles on the clock on a 19 plate. For sale the 242bhp Golf GTi Performance Pack DSG (smaller and slower than the 268bhp Superb) 5 door 68 plate with 20,130 miles on the clock this 2018 car will cost you £23,299.

Racechip has one of the worst reputations with the cars I'm familiar with. Questionable gains and issues occasionally. It's rather limited/basic in the way it works as you can see from the sensors it intercepts which is never good with such complex ECU's of today's cars. In terms of piggybacks I would only trust the JB4 (as I have done) simply because it's been tested on a huge number of MQB cars around the world with the exact same gen3 2.0 TSI for several years now, with reliable performance.

PS. There are generic 280/227/tuning threads where your post could get the desired attention by the way. Following some other longtime members' example I stopped frequenting this particular thread which servers more as an "ego boost" for the OP unfortunately... :worried:

After 61 days finally filled the car up this morning. Got my timing all wrong to use a Tesco voucher which ran out today so this week the car has had the following mixture due to me trying to be clever and the car's fuel gauge deceiving me so bear with me.

Shell V-Power £10 or 7.05 litres.

Sainsbury's     £20 or 16.82 litres. (regular 95 unleaded)

Tesco               £57.45 or 50.00 litres (they ran out of Momentum so had to fill with regular 95 octane but only paid £1.149 per litre).

This is a total of £87.45 or 73.87 litres which works out at 36.86mpg.

Both traffic (roadworks, accidents) has been bad in the last 2 weeks and the weather has been awful so not surprising economy took a hit.

Overall now spent £370.82 on fuel or 295.36 litres which is 38.39mpg over 2,494 miles driven.

Nice commute tonight although I have managed a 41.1mpg since the remap on 4th Feb just over 1,000 miles ago now.

I'm in isolation Corona Virus or something that feels like it awful cough since Thursday. One minute I'm cold then I'm hot at least I am off for 3 days. Now done 7,500 miles or 2,600 miles in 2 months which probably shows how much I love driving it. Fuel cost is working out at 14.8 pence per mile. Another 4 weeks and will put the RS6 Audi wheels on.

Go out for a spirited drive!  Will help you recover I’m sure.

Does it have short service intervals or is it annual based?

Every 6 months or 6,000 miles.

I guess it’s Kia protecting their halo car’s reputation and also their 7-year warranty.

I bought 3 years (6 services) for £1019, or £170 per service.  For the engine in question, and the warranty, I’ll take that.

It’s not really any hassle as they run me to the office (nearby) and pick me up, usually in an e-Niro which is interesting - thought provoking for Mrs Dunc’s next car.....

I think I know how you achieve this mpg. Just did 550+ mile round trip to Dorset/Devon and back. Mostly A46 dualled /M69,M5 and 45 miles of slow A roads into Dorset 35-37 Mpg with the flow of traffic and using Eco mode, coasting on hills etc, worked quite hard to achieve 37 Mpg.  Return Devon- Lincs with 20 mile detour into Bristol traffic to visit friends, mostly using ACC set to 70 Mph, maintaining momentum anticipating gaps in traffic on the M5/M69 A46. Moral of the story, if you tickle the throttle and stay at 55 Mph dragging the weight of the car, economy is worse than getting to 70. Considering traffic and time of day, it took no longer than previous trips, blasting along and then getting stuck in traffic.

Good to get back into my car after being ill for the last 4 days and wasn't driving for economy on my way into work. Exactly 12 months ago today my car was having it's PDI at the Sheerness Port of Entry unlike dealer cars mine was registered a few weeks later with Skoda UK and has the original number plates which I like because they contain my Dad's initials (this is not a competition). Might take awhile to use up this tank of Tesco regular unleaded but looks like like another 500+ mile tankful.:whew:

The secret to good mpg is maintaining your speed, as you say you did coming back.

I think you would find that if you could maintain 50mph without slowing too much the mpg would be equally as good.

Trying to get to work tonight horrendous roadworks near where I live and everyone on the main road was letting everyone out of all the side roads so I was sat there wondering why cars were coming into town but none were leaving. Took me 50 minutes to cover the first 2 miles from house then I tried an alternative route which took another 10 minutes to finally complete 5 miles and get on the motorway. All I will say is that the Superb does a damn fine job of the point and squirt on demand and changes down 2 gears instantly for that Alton Towers acceleration experience. Dread to think what my 1hour 22 minute commute averaged (I was scared to look but I haven't got anywhere near 350 miles left ine tank).

Inspired by your recent efforts @shyVRS245, I had the chance to take the 280 out for a couple of long runs! Not a bad journey down the M1, no real 50 zones and on ACC the entire way at 71/72 running on 97 BP fuel.

Normally wouldn't have minded risking the 130 mile range on the way back up, but Friday's aren't meant for the stress of range anxiety ;)

Somehow feel like the remaining 515 miles in the tank won't quite be the truth now I'm driving through cities! But it's nice to know it can hit 40mpg+ rather than the 21mpg I'm normally getting. Excited to see what it will do on a proper long journey!

I've been a bit naughty this week must be opposite effect of feeling unwell for 10 days so using the natural adrenaline on tap to improve my mood so this tank has taken a bit of a hit and slumped to about 34mpg. Coming to work tonight biker was showing off ahead yet had to stop for some lights on a small roundabout. His bike had a big fat rear tyre so:hi: presumably it had some power but caught him completely by surprise as I gave it the Full Monty going round the slight bend yet accelerating flat out at the same time. Would have loved to have seen under the visor to see his expression as I demolished the 0-97mph before backing off. All this while in Eco mode. Still not tried it in Sport mode that must be a right giggle. Was your trip to Magna park and back is my memory serves me right?

Smiles. Per. Gallon! I've still yet to pull away in sport mode and not have a smile wash over my face and my heart jump at the pull! How have you not let the taps off in sports mode yet?! I didn't realise one man could have such restraint!

Wasn't me for the Magna Park journey I'm afraid, just a bog standard journey down the M1! Not to sully your thread with other car information, but there's two comparative trips which stand out for me in my last car, a 1.2L Petrol 110 Fabia Monte Carlo Estate, firstly the longest journey I did, this one was a quick trip down to Essex and back:

D7wqQM5.png

And then the one I'm doing again in a couple of months up to Kennacraig (some fun driving roads from Glasgow to Kennacraig if you're ever that way), personally I can't wait to really try out the seats on a solid 6 hour slog, see what they're really like:

dPLqf6Q.png

To say that this car has 170 more bhp, is a few 100kg heavier, and is a 4x4, I'm honestly thrilled to be within 20% of the fuel economy of the Fabia on 'normal driving' motorway journeys.

It really isn't fit for our roads. It should be renamed Track Mode.

You're right for the Superb's size, performance and weight being capable of nearly 700 miles per tank is remarkable (got 45.9mpg down to Essex in February before the map and with 138 miles driven range was 560 miles left). Also looking forward to our holiday upto Perthshire for a week in June and get to enjoy the great scenery, hopefully some dry roads, the seat comfort and SWMBO shouting SLOW DOWN at me.:notme:

Got to do at least one track day in this car to get it out of my system because the way it lunges forward between 70-120mph is very unexpected in a barge and would no doubt perplex other hardcore track day warriors.:blush

I can't believe the throttle response changes with it turned on, it just goes, I'll never forget turning it on and experiencing the puck factor 5 moment of giving it some welly round a corner in third for the first time only to come out of said corner, flat, loud, and at speed I've never hit in a car before.
