AKA The buttock clencher moment.:tongueout:

That's the one! It's not a car that feels unsafe with the amount of power it has, but yes cornering outside of DCC sports mode definitely gets a workout. It was at that moment I kind of wished I'd got one with vented seats to cool down a bit. In all seriousness though I'm genuinely excited to take it to some of my favourite roads around the north of England when I have some more time. If you're heading up to Perthshire on the M6 there's some nice 'leg stretching' opportunities North of Lancaster once you've gone past the bridges. But if you ever find yourself in the North of England, these are on my hit list with the Superb:

Generally speaking most of the roads around these areas can be very good fun, especially in the right conditions. There's enough of them to get lost in, and plenty of unrestricted sections; lots of really nice pubs around too.

Honorary shoutout to Islay, without a doubt the friendliest place I've been to drive thanks to the 'Islay wave', where (genuinely) the locals will wave to each other (and you too) as you drive past one another. The roads are broken and harsh in places, but I'm hoping to test the Superb on there in the next year, see how the DCC copes! The drive there from Glasgow is pretty swell - https://www.google.com/maps/dir/55.9565952,-4.5623023/Kennacraig/@56.0260517,-5.2662045,10.25z/data=!4m9!4m8!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x48898a2e039b33c1:0x3848822b9858ca4e!2m2!1d-5.4736237!2d55.803296!3e0, some great sections of road and incredible views. Highly recommend the square sausage sandwich in Village Shop off Luss, and a Salmon Roll at Loch Fyne.

I've been a bit naughty this week must be opposite effect of feeling unwell for 10 days so using the natural adrenaline on tap to improve my mood so this tank has taken a bit of a hit and slumped to about 34mpg. Coming to work tonight biker was showing off ahead yet had to stop for some lights on a small roundabout. His bike had a big fat rear tyre so:hi: presumably it had some power but caught him completely by surprise as I gave it the Full Monty going round the slight bend yet accelerating flat out at the same time. Would have loved to have seen under the visor to see his expression as I demolished the 0-97mph before backing off. All this while in Eco mode. Still not tried it in Sport mode that must be a right giggle. Was your trip to Magna park and back is my memory serves me right?

It's bad enough you bragging about exceeding the speed speed speed limit. You don't have to show off by putting the post in bold type.

Using the wife’s Karoq’s tonight 148bhp in Sport mode climate control on managed this. TBF her Long Term average is not bad as many of her journey’s now are quite short.

Day 73 and current mileage is 7,727 not doing much driving at the moment as I recover from the flu and only got 4 shifts to do in the next 10 days so should manage 3,000 miles driven by March 20th but hoping to fit my summer wheels in the next 2 weeks when my strength returns (to undo the 20 wheel bolts).

I bought a Machine Mart 12v impact driver. Makes the whole job far easier, plus you can pretend to be F1 pit crew while doing it.

Still have to jack the car manually though.

Thanks I'm old school if I tighten the wheel nuts myself, fairly confident I can untighten them by the side of the road if I need to put the spare on. Keep a 2 tonne trolley jack in the boot because the standard jacks are useless when holding the weight of such a heavy car.

Quite agree. The impact driver doesnt torque them up, I do for exactly that reason.  Oh the shame of calling RAC to help change a wheel when much younger. Bought an 18" breaker bar after that. 💪

Day 76 update due to self isolating UK population roads have been quieter than normal and expecting 600 miles on the current tank.

Whoa whoa whoa, you recovered from the flu, *this week*?

Day 81 update and just broke through 8,000 miles today and filled up (fuel dropped 3 pence per litre since last fill) and since I bought the car now covered 3,092 miles at a total cost of £457.40 with 371.69 litres or 81.76 gallons used at an average of 37.82mpg. Long term maxidot over last 1,800 miles shows 36.8mpg which reflects using the extra power since the remap at 6,400 miles.

Has anyone experienced creaking, buzzing or rattles from their front doors. Mines have just started and it’s driving me nuts.

No zero noise from my car fortunately. There are at least 3 speakers in each front door so it might be something loose within one of them.

Is it creaking or buzzing or rattling?

If creaking, it may be that the door seals need some silicone grease.

That included out dragging a Bentley Bentayga up the slip road onto the M1 which the driver didn't like probably having spent £133,100 on their 2.4tonne SUV.:blush

I’ve just begun to read this thread and I couldn’t help quoting this. The Bentayga.... quite possibly thee most ghastly designed SUV in the world... even worse than the Maserati Levante. To me, it looks like what a Chinese “interpretation” of the “real” Bentayga would’ve been.

Thanks guys, fuel economy questions on forums are often problematic as there are so, so many variables.

My 62 mile each way commute (124 miles per day) is all 50-80mph along rural roads, fast B-roads and dual carriageways.

I am lucky, none of it is stop / start, only a few deserted T-junctions and roundabouts.

My diesel E220 E-Class averages 50mpg (calculated manually), consistently, my previous MkII 2.0 TDI CR140 Superb averaged 52mpg.

I'm spending £300-£400 per month on fuel I guess.

If the 272 was £400-£500 roughly, so say an extra £25 per week then it woukd be worth it.

Much more than that and I'd definately feel it in the pocket.

I get what you mean. I used to do a 52 mile each way commute however, it involved the M25, A329(M) and the M4, so bloody awful. But the PD140 Elegance used to average about 45mpg, even with the stop, start, stop......starrrr.... nope stop (🙄) on every journey.  I still have her, with 122k and now utterly worthless, but I can’t part with the old barge. Everything still works and there is no signs of major corrosion and just passed the MOT without any advisories.

You sound like my Dad. Two years before he retired he bought a dealer demo Vauxhall Vectra diesel estate (to tow his caravan which he still does twice a year). It had 7,000 miles on the clock in December 2004. Two years ago after listening to me praising Skoda's for many years he bought a 170PS DSG Elegance Superb estate from our local dealer with 66,000 miles on the clock for £8,500 with FSH. He garages the Superb and the 16 year old Vectra sits in the drive and it still gets serviced once a year, MOT and taxed and insured because he can't bear to part with it and it has less than 60,000 miles on the clock from new.:)

Common in TSI’s is a buzz through drivers door/B pillar. Usual cause is the fuel lines under the car. Apparently there is an ‘official kit’ to change the clips/fixings to resolve this.

Could be be something else but it’s really common on near enough all the MQB 2.0 TSI cars across VW.

I had the same on the drivers side. Took it into dealer and they couldn't diagnose. Then it stopped. A week later I noticed the drivers side bumper grill mesh had disappeared (dropped out). Refitted with a replacement and not heard it since.

Friend brought his 1982 Mk1 Golf GTi to work today and it has a factory sunroof, black Pirelli alloys and front seats from a Porsche 924. It has cost him £10,000 to restore plus a full respect. It has the 1.8 litre engine producing 112bhp.

So I’ve noticed if I put pressure on the inside door panel near where the lock would be the buzzing/rattle stops. It’s incredibly annoying. Do you think that will be fixed under warranty?

How long have you had the car, are you the first owner and what's the mileage?

I can't recall the exact time/mileage but if in the first 6 months/6.5k miles of ownership on a new car, for example, then any defect to the car should investigated and rectified under warranty as within that period there's no 'wear and tear' get out.  It's basically a snagging period with the car.  So if the car is fairly new then get it booked in ASAP.

It could be something on the inside of the door card, there's a lot of cables and harnesses in that area.  If you fancy doing it yourself, it's not a huge job, once you know where all the clips and retaining screws are but...not something you should have to do for yourself.

Hi mate. So the car is a 19 plate. I bought it in January and it now has 11k miles. I bought if from a Skoda garage so that may help I am really unhandy so wouldn’t dare try to fix. The noises are driving me nuts. I emailed yesterday but with lockdown upon us I doubt I will hear anything. Thanks for getting back mate

Have you tried removing the umbrella? (Just thinking of easy stuff to try in the interim)
